Thanks! A few people have mentioned that this is the only review that shows the keyboard being used while gaming. That is really funny! I didn't think that it was such a big deal, but now I'll be sure to include that in future keyboard reviews!
I actually just re-watched this video a few days ago, and was pretty impressed that I actually did that! I'll keep this in mind for the next keyboard review - glad you appreciated it!
All I think I would add to your review, is that this is definitely targeted for premium performance at premium cost. I got this keyboard at a sale and it cost me around 180 dollars (insta-purchase) and it should be arriving this week. Hopefully I'll be able to catch the Logitech G903 lightning + Hero at some kind of offer as well this year.
I know this is a dated review, but it is still helpful. Thanks for the detail. Helped me decide to not drop the $250 for the KB. The key size was a great point that I didn't think about, and showing the gameplay was AWESOME as well.
I love the look of this keyboard. I have been researching keyboards obsessively for days now. I am in the market for a wireless (not bluetooth) full size keyboard (may go tkl if I have too) with rgb (that isnt out of contol - prefer just backlit see-through keycaps) mechanical (preferably cherry mx but dont mind as long as they are quality) an adult looking keyboard (because I am am not a teenager - most these gaming devices are designed to appeal too) a good brand (prefer non mainstream, like leopold or durgod) and a keyboard that I can use on my lap (because I game, browse, type, etc on a recliner - I use my mouse on a arm rest or next to me on a pillow or something). If you use a keyboard on your lap a smaller TKL or a 60% etc would be very small. Need something that can rest comfortably on both legs. Also don't want to lose the functionalty of a fullsize. SO I have narrowed my options down to the logitech G613, Corsair K63, drevo blademaster pro, logitech G915. If none of these fit the bill I may just go for a cheap one like the full size velocifier or the motospeed one. First world problems. After this I will spend two weeks researching gaming mice lol. I have problems hehe but its a hobby. :)
I totally hear what you're saying. I don't know anything about the Drevo (amzn.to/36Qipa3), other than to say I wouldn't buy a wireless keyboard from a second-tier brand. It's actually pretty hard to get right, and the user reviews make that clear. Among the others, the G613 (amzn.to/36NxcCr) is cheap, but it also feels cheap. Totally plastic, no RGB, very thick. I've tested it and don't like it much, but again, it doesn't cost much, so it has a place in the market. The K63 (amzn.to/36H56sF) has that classic aluminum frame that Corsair is known for, but it's pretty thick due to the use of older Cherry MX switches. I like the modern low-profile switches a lot more. Also, it's only blue LED, and the wireless system is far inferior to Logitech's. And then you have the G915 (amzn.to/2K0QOsT), which I'm typing on right now. It's perfect, and it's priced accordingly. But it's everything you want, so maybe skip the mouse and just get the G915? ;)
@@TheTechBuyersGuru Wow thanks. I think I will end up getting the G915. The best solution to all this would be a wireless add on to keyboards. A dongle and transmitter kit that you could fit onto non-wireless keyboards. I havn't researched that yet but common sense tells me whatever is out there must be inferior to a dedicated wireless solution otherwise there would be no market for wireless keyboars in the first place because everyone would just use that! Of all the dozens of upon dozens of keyboards I have looked into wireless and non-wireless, the Leopold at Computex ruclips.net/video/pGDz6lfPosc/видео.html this year is my favourite and would by it over the G915 as its perfect in almost every way. Yes, absolutely. There are dedicated Lightspeed and Bluetooth buttons right on the top of the keyboard, very easy to switch. By the way all three models of the G915 are currently $235 at Amazon (amzn.to/36qhImL), which is the lowest price this keyboard has hit. It's a premium model, and Logitech didn't discount it during Black Friday like it did most of its other products.
This is exactly my first impressions. Touching or using the keyboard for the first time is hard especially when you came from a corsair keyboard which has a different bottom row layout or lets say (doesn't have standard bottom row layout). I am using a wired version G813 in my country (G813 and G815 are the same). For a week of use I got used to it and I love it because it's thin I hate G-Hub, corsair's iCue software is better in my reference. @@TheTechBuyersGuru ok thanks for answering my question, great review by the way I'm still thinking about buying the White K70 cherry MX speed or this one
yes they do, the thing is they sit on 2 tiny legs left and right. and tehy like to break just by looing at it a bit too much. forget cleaning that thing. even removing only a handfull will defently result in at least one broken keycap. been there done that. but because of the design they can wobble a bit if you press em to high or to low inthe center. specialyl the bigger keys. but this is not consistent among mayn keyboards but will defently get worse over time.
I have the tactile version and actually love this keyboard. The top is a little slippery compared to my previous g513. But all in all for a keyboard I can use for my pc and iPad and got it for around $200 with Best Buy rewards you honestly can’t go wrong. But also it’s a personal preference and it gives my desk a very clean look with my g903
Henry, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the tactile version. I would have loved to try both that and the clicky version back to back. The tactile version may be the best all-around model for a combo of accuracy and quiet operation. And yes, it's a super-clean keyboard, for a grown-up audience that appreciates a professional appearance. Ironically, it's taken Logitech forever to release a gaming-grade keyboard that looks this good, given that Logitech of course is well known in the professional market.
The Tech Buyer's Guru I totally agree it took them too long to release a keyboard for a grown up crowd who like to game but keep a clean look. The key caps are flat though but I hardly game like I used to so it’s cool. I definitely prefer the tactile because the sound is so subtle.
It seems like you could be not really used to the new keyboard when gaming with it for the first time. Have you used it some more often after making this review? Did you changed your mind about it or still you feel the Corsair is better?
Well, I've used it ever since I published the review, and I've gamed a lot on it. I certainly got used to it, but I still think that in an ideal world, I'd swap back to the Corsair for gaming, but use the Logitech for everything else. I absolutely love typing on it.
The G613 (amzn.to/2rdMUa0) and the G915 (amzn.to/2tGz5Sv) are completely different products at completely different prices. The G915 is far superior in every way, but it also costs 4x more. Is someone giving you these or selling them?
i bought the g613 at 60 bucks on a sale and i'm actually really happy with it. my pet peeves with it are mostly the lack of backlights and the mushy feeling of the switches at first
Another iinformative review. My G810 started chattering weeks ago, & i've got a replacement G815 (Tactile) on the way (great customer service by Logitech). The Romer G switches were fine for me, but they just didn't last. Hope these GL switches last longer. Are yours still going ok, Ari?
I've used this keyboard about 6-8 hours a day for 1.5 years. One switch got sticky about a year in and I blew out the dust. Fixed. Otherwise perfect. I love it.
Those keys work. I suggest you just try cleaning the keyboard. It has nothing to do with the specific keys you mentioned, it has to do with dust. It happened to a different key on mine, it's working fine now.
Hey, great video! I'm a huge Corsair K70 fan also, but thinking about upgrading my lovely K70 to a G915, almost one year later, what do you think of the G915? Should I upgrade or look else? thanks! great work! You got a new subscriber!
Thanks for the sub! Here's my answer: before I tested the G915, I had used a litany of K70 models, first MX Red, then MX Rapidfire, then MX Rapidfire LP. Since the day I installed the G915, I have not gone back to using any K70. I think that answers your question! By the way, the G915 has been sold out for over a month, and the clicky version (which I tested), just came back in stock on Amazon: amzn.to/2DI85al. If you want something quieter and don't need wireless, you could get the G815, which is in stock right now with linear switches: amzn.to/3iUdCut
@@TheTechBuyersGuru Hey thanks for your reply! Yeah, I have noticed that, and due I like the sound of my K70 Rapidfire, I think I will go with the G915 Clicky version, basically because I hate that thick cable and have route it under my desk thru a hole I made, (lol) but like you said, I want something more modern! Thanks again for your reply, you won a huge fan from this time! =) When I buy it I will share my experience here!
BTW, I really like the feel and sound of the Rapidfire switches, do you think that the Clicky version of the G915 is the most similar, or maybe the Linear version?
The Rapidfire is an MX Red-like switch, which is linear, so the G815/915 linear switch is probably most similar. The Logitech clicky switches are probably supposed to emulate MX Blue, but are far quieter and faster, with a lot less effort required to engage them. That's why I like it so much - lots of feel, a bit of noise, great typing experience, very good gaming experience (held back slightly by the keycaps).
@@TheTechBuyersGuru Thanks for your reply and for taking the time to answer to all your subs, this is amazing! Talking about the keyboard, I would probably buy the Linear switches because I really like the "smoothness" and the "easiness" of typing in the K70, (The clicky sounds amazing but I don't want something with feedback or bump) I also have a Code Keyboard with Cherry MX Clear Switches but I don't like the force I need to click in this, too much force needed, I prefer the K70. By far, the greatest feel. A lot of years ago I had a Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum, and I liked the feel of the Romer-G switches, but in a couple months start failing, Logitech didn't cover the warranty, so I thought I never buy a Logi KB again, but here I am Lol
The wired G815 is $200 (amzn.to/2wnAKxJ), the wireless is $230 (amzn.to/2wmGU0V). It's no contest. You're getting a ton of additional tech for $30 (two wireless systems - Lightspeed plus Bluetooth - along with a battery). The G815 is far too expensive. Even if you plug in the G915 most of the time, the convenience of pulling the plug to move the keyboard around your desk or to another PC temporarily is worth that extra cost.
Only the bottom is black. The top is a dark gunmetal color By the way, it's in stock at Amazon: amzn.to/3uNCeuO Also at Newegg: click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=WAzU8cLhuCU&mid=44583&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.newegg.com%2Fblack-logitech-g915-lightspeed-clicky%2Fp%2FN82E16823126553 Both stores have either clicky or tactile. Seems like the linear ones have sold out.
The clicky version has the strongest audible feedback, but is sold out right now: amzn.to/2UOL77w. Alternatively, you can get three wired version, the G815 clicky: amzn.to/2JKUgY8
Just got the clicky version. I notice that each and every key activates a press before I feel and hear a click. Basically a keystroke registers before the actual click. Is this normal for these switches?
Yes, if you actually try to make this happen, you'll find that it actuates about 1/10 of a millimeter before the click. I'm not sure why that's a concern. If you're actually typing on it, this issue isn't an issue at all. It's not like you stop pressing it at the very 1/10 of a millimeter of travel when it actuates.
@@TheTechBuyersGuru Thank you for your very fast reply! Well, it is not so much a concern or that I actively tried to accomplish this. I noticed this immediately upon normal typing. I used several keyboards with Cherry MX Blue switches in the past, which don't exhibit this property at all and only register a stroke after the click. The last being a Ducky Shine board. I am kinda sensitive too these kind of things and just wondered if this was normal as I don't have another reference point than MX blue for clicky switches.
went from g910orion to the g915 lightspeed and the keys are so much better i have so many less missed keys and my typing speed is far better and this seems to also go directly into gaming i have far les unintentional key presses than before and am so much more accurate. the feel of these keys is wonderful and coming from the 910 orion that has the insanely cuped keys i am loving the shallow caps
I completely agree with you on the accuracy of these switches. It is amazing, I have never had any keyboard that comes close, and I've tested a lot. Some may not like the shallow caps, but it sounds like you're enjoying them, so it's a win-win in your case!
most modern games are terrible at using the keyboard flexibility as they are made thinking about consoles and limited controls, if you want to try a game that uses all your keyboard properly i would suggest something more like Elite Dangerous, mechwarrior 3, or some RTS or simulation game, where you use all your keyboard range of presses and then even the macro keys become important. an MMO like black desert where due to their combo system you use a much wider range of keys than just WASD, or Ragnarok online 1 in /Battlemode.
I don't think it matters too much, but yes, it would have been better with Type-C. Corsair is now moving to Type-C for all its gaming peripherals, Logitech will hopefully do the same for its next-gen peripherals, although as far as I know, none are coming soon. They exhibited nothing at CES 2020.
Wow, going for the PG35VQ (amzn.to/2wKLKVP) - not playing around! Looks like you'll have a premium setup. And yeah, the 915 Clicky (amzn.to/2VnWLGT) is awesome - typing on it right now, haven't changed it out ever since publishing this review! But what mouse are you going to be using? I'm loving the G502 Lightspeed (amzn.to/2Td6Eog), but Razer has some nice new stuff too, like the Viper Ultimate (amzn.to/2Vw2Npf). They finally worked out good wireless.
i regret buying it...all the second symbols on numerical keys are NOT illuminated ! At night i cant see anything and my typing is so difficult ...G810 was way better than this.
This is a good point - only the main symbols are illuminated. But this probably comes down to style - if these were always illuminated, it would make the keyboard look pretty messy, and most people aren't actually buying RGB keyboards for functional nightime backlighting. As you mentioned, the Logitech G810 (amzn.to/2QlOTTw) does have that full backlighting, and it doesn't look quite as sleek. What would be very cool is if they illuminated when the shift key is pressed, but that's not possible with today's technology - there's just a single light in each switch.
Thanks for this review. I just saved $250. I'll keep looking for a better keyboard. It isnt that clicky but if your fingers are sliding off, that could be a distraction.
I need a new keyboard too and I don't even know what to get, might just get the same one I already have to save money thene buy the brand new one when it comes out if it's good. Now any spelling mistakes you see in this comment? That is from the keyboard pressing letters twice, I really don't understand it. Logitech gg910
A nice overall review but the mic quality especially at the part where you compare the kbrd sounds is sub par to be honest and ruining the whole purpose..
Been upgrading the mic quality over time. I have a better setup now than I did when I shot this video, but honestly, it's not as easy as you might think. Mics that are great for voice aren't good for something like keyboard sounds which are less direct.
@@TheTechBuyersGuru I'm aware of that but it's actually ruining the whole experience if you wanna do a serious review. I'd either use it properly or ommit the sound test completely rather than give a poor end result. Just my 2 cents..
I personally don't like them either, but Logitech has a lot of fans in the MMO community that I think like them a lot. I agree, however, that Logitech needs to start marketing some high-end gaming keyboards without them.
That's the reason for i not buy the Logitech G915. G keys on the left side of the keyboard is to give headaches to anyone that wants to press ctrl. Hope they release a new/special version of this G915 without that G keys.
I use the keyboard solely for typing/writing - & love the G keys. I have them programmed for Copy/Cut/Paste & then G5 is Save. When it's your only keyboard, you get used to where all the keys, like CTRL, actually are. The G keys are brilliant.
Do not buy this $hit! You can not swap the keys nor can you buy new ones anywhere. If one of your keys breaks you have to buy a new keyboard after your warranty is over. And, your keys will break, for sure!
pelase review it more honest. wha not mention the subpar volume control and the joke of special keys (mute, mediacontrol, connect,...) those are really realyl bad rubbery keys of the worst kind. at 250bucks a nono. but the real issue are the keycaps. prone to break, defently not the sort to simply remove to clean something, youll break em at reinserting. now the only plus side is, its the only low profile wireless and a rare wireless emchanical full size keyboard. and the only one with (almsot useless) volume control.
All the things you're listing are entirely subjective. I see absolutely nothing wrong with the volume control, in fact I think it's awesome. The rubber-coated media controls are nice, no need for mechanical switches on them. And I I don't see how anyone could say these keycaps are going to break unless they actually broke during the review, which mine certainly didn't. So, you can share all the rumors you've heard, but I based my review on my objective testing of the product. That's what an honest review is all about.
@@TheTechBuyersGuru yeah I find it very odd that other reviewer broke a keycap, I mean, if it doesn't connect dont force it right? Plastic is plastic and just because these keycaps looks delicate doesn't mean they are, they are just designed different but the actual connections dont look that different from others. I wonder if because he broke the keycap whether logitech let him keep the keyboard. I wonder......
i love the volume control. the ability to quickly mute and adjust the volume of sound on the fly is amazing. its low profile, wireless, mechanical, awesome battery life that can be left uncharged for ages (big selling point for me), rgb, decent keyboard experience, good audio slider. is it worth the money? i dont think so. but i cant see another keyboard which ticks all those boxes.
This guy need to have 100k subs asap. Only he showing the keyboard in game, love it!

They don't wobble anymore than my MX Reds, so I think it's a non-issue.
@@woswasdenni1914 yeah exactly what happened to Dimitri of Hardware Canucks these key caps looks very fragile

Great job with the review
An actual review! thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Still use this keyboard daily and love it!
For a programmer/light Gamer, would you recommend the G613 or the G915 I was given a choice between them, and i am not sure wich to pick.....
The G613 (amzn.to/2rdMUa0) and the G915 (amzn.to/2tGz5Sv) are completely different products at completely different prices. The G915 is far superior in every way, but it also costs 4x more. Is someone giving you these or selling them?
i bought the g613 at 60 bucks on a sale and i'm actually really happy with it.
my pet peeves with it are mostly the lack of backlights and the mushy feeling of the switches at first
I think the G613 (amzn.to/39tPN6S) is a great deal at $60. It is NOT a great deal at $130, which is what it's currently selling for.
Good luck with it. I loved the keyboard, but most of the keys failed after a month. Upgrading the software did nothing.
I love it.
Please check the keys under the ESC key and the F10 key. Do they work properly? On my keyboard I have to hit them twice to get a character.
I've used the keyboard for 18 months and it works great. Once had to blow out some dust under delete key to get it to register consistently.
@@TheTechBuyersGuru - I also like the keyboard very much; but have you tried those two keys I mentioned? Most likely you wouldn’t use them very often.
Those keys work. I suggest you just try cleaning the keyboard. It has nothing to do with the specific keys you mentioned, it has to do with dust. It happened to a different key on mine, it's working fine now.
@@TheTechBuyersGuru - OK. Thank you.
Logitech g915 who the best for gaming and typing? clicky or tactile or linear ??
clicky.
Thoughts on the wired version?
The wired G815 is $200 (amzn.to/2wnAKxJ), the wireless is $230 (amzn.to/2wmGU0V). It's no contest. You're getting a ton of additional tech for $30 (two wireless systems - Lightspeed plus Bluetooth - along with a battery). The G815 is far too expensive. Even if you plug in the G915 most of the time, the convenience of pulling the plug to move the keyboard around your desk or to another PC temporarily is worth that extra cost.
I’m about to bu this. It says it’s black. I wonder if that means its not that aluminum base?
Only the bottom is black. The top is a dark gunmetal color
By the way, it's in stock at Amazon: amzn.to/3uNCeuO
Also at Newegg: click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=WAzU8cLhuCU&mid=44583&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.newegg.com%2Fblack-logitech-g915-lightspeed-clicky%2Fp%2FN82E16823126553
Both stores have either clicky or tactile. Seems like the linear ones have sold out.
What about battery when lightning ON ??
34 hours, maximum brightness.
@@TheTechBuyersGuru good time. Thanx
Glad they fixed all the issues in the x
Are you able to lockout the windows key? So that you don’t hit it accidentally mid game?
Yes, it's simple. There's a button with a joystick logo along the top edge of the keyboard, and pressing that button shuts off the Windows key.
What version contains the strongest sound of the buttons?
I want to buy from Amazon
The clicky version has the strongest audible feedback, but is sold out right now: amzn.to/2UOL77w. Alternatively, you can get three wired version, the G815 clicky: amzn.to/2JKUgY8
صوتها مزعج
Is the keyboard USB c or just a android cable?
Micro USB.
@@TheTechBuyersGuru micro USB so just a regular “android cable” as if what everyone calls it right?
@@TheTechBuyersGuru alright thank you
The K-70 Low Profile is that Cherry MX Speed or what?
MX Low-Profile Speed: www.cherrymx.de/en/mx-low-profile/mx-low-profile-speed.html
There’s also a Mx low profile red for the same keyboard.
very helpful review. thanks!
Glad it was helpful! I use this keyboard everyday and still love it!
What is the name of the program?
Logitech GHub is how you control lighting and features.
@@TheTechBuyersGuru Ah thx!
la g915 en español no hay videos explicativos por lo que tendre que devolver
En resumen, es muy buen teclado pero el precio a pagar es bastante alto. Si tienes el dinero, adelante.
The Corsair could have sold me but I don't want one with an attatched wrist rest. That complately lost me.
I just saw this video and while I liked it (I also have the G915) the closest thing to it was the G815 -same keyboard only wired-.
most modern games are terrible at using the keyboard flexibility as they are made thinking about consoles and limited controls, if you want to try a game that uses all your keyboard properly i would suggest something more like Elite Dangerous, mechwarrior 3, or some RTS or simulation game, where you use all your keyboard range of presses and then even the macro keys become important.
an MMO like black desert where due to their combo system you use a much wider range of keys than just WASD, or Ragnarok online 1 in /Battlemode.
This would have been the perfect keyboard, if Logitech used USB-C instead of that ancient Micro-USB
For me, if this would have USB-C I'd buy it without hesitating... Let's hope next Gen has it
Surely, your computer sleeps on its own.
9:54 YES
Yeah, I thought that would be helpful!
The Tech Buyer's Guru :)
Shitty thing they dont replace dongles when the dongle is broken
Nice review my 915 Clicky is coming tomorrow along with the asus pg35vq monitor I’m hyped
They finally worked out good wireless.
keycaps are the biggest problem. There is just no replacement.
i regret buying it...all the second symbols on numerical keys are NOT illuminated !
Is this Ted Danson?
Thanks for this review. I just saved $250. I'll keep looking for a better keyboard. It isnt that clicky but if your fingers are sliding off, that could be a distraction.
Yup, great keyboard, but the keycaps aren't perfect for gaming.
I need a new keyboard too and I don't even know what to get, might just get the same one I already have to save money thene buy the brand new one when it comes out if it's good. Now any spelling mistakes you see in this comment? That is from the keyboard pressing letters twice, I really don't understand it. Logitech gg910
It want come
I love this review but maybe if you could shorten the review down a bit. Loved this review
Everybody hates the G keys, Logitech doesn't hear feedback for shit
I personally don't like them either, but Logitech has a lot of fans in the MMO community that I think like them a lot. I agree, however, that Logitech needs to start marketing some high-end gaming keyboards without them.
@@TheTechBuyersGuru bought the 815 anyway, but man those G keys... a hammer.. tempting!
LOL! I'm always hitting them accidentally, so annoying!
And, your keys will break, for sure!
why would you need keyboard when you have opera gx browser lol
pelase review it more honest.
wha not mention the subpar volume control and the joke of special keys (mute, mediacontrol, connect,...) those are really realyl bad rubbery keys of the worst kind. at 250bucks a nono.
but the real issue are the keycaps. prone to break, defently not the sort to simply remove to clean something, youll break em at reinserting.
now the only plus side is, its the only low profile wireless and a rare wireless emchanical full size keyboard. and the only one with (almsot useless) volume control.
More than 50 bucks. Hard pass
