That was my thought about this video. A good mom sitting her children down and explaining. Props to you mom. I'm 58 and that took me back to my mom and then taking that knowledge and when my kids where young and even today as adults. This video gave my a lump in my throat and butterflies in my stomach. God Bless you and your whole family. Nice ❤

This song is no different than any other song about how people interpret the meaning.
Sting said that he is amazed by how many people tell him that they used his song "I'll Be Watching You" as their wedding song.
The song is about a stalker.
When you choose images of the 2020 riots to send a "message" and INSULTINGLY overlook the fact that George Floyd's slow horrific suffocation death, handcuffed and helpless on the ground, is the VERY reason those riots happened in the first place, then some people quite justifiably are going to see that "message" as racist disrespect.
Is such a barbaric act by particular cops who abuse their authority fully acceptable in a small town? Because one does come without the other.
It takes an alarming lack of empathy to have no reaction to such an ice cold blooded murder.
I don't think that particular white people intentionally disregard
George Floyd' horrific murder to focus only on what came of it.
I think for those particular white people it's just instinct.
You cannot blame people for knowing that the building shown in this video was the site of hundreds of jim crow era lynchings and then saying something about it. People have the right to their opinion.
      The song is not banned.
It's going to make them a lot of money.
CMT obviously has the right to choose the videos they want played on their network.
It was probably their lawyers who saw it as potentially something that could incite violence.
That was the reason they pulled it.
Not out of the question at all.

The song is not racist. Why are we even asking that? We should instead be asking if Jason Aldean himself is racist. The answer. Yes. Him and his wife have posted enough things over the past years to show how bigoted they truly are. The song only reinforces what many already know. Jason Aldean is a racist piece of trash.

I am Black and I am in support of the song. What is interesting is how the country has responded to the video. First we have small communities inside large cities with similar unity among neighbors. and their is crime inside small towns. We have an issue that we have ignored this entire 21st century. And we have a nation that facilitated the problem during the close of the last century.

There is crime in small towns but not like what is being seen in some of the major cities and while there are small communities inside the larger that have that unity it's unfortunate that they can be strangled by what presses in on them. I believe a lot of what we see now is a product of and encouraged by social media. It's encouraging to see a mother communicating with her children like this...more like her will make the difference.

While Aldean is addressing crime and violence in his first verse, the 2nd verse about his granddad's gun is about gun-control. He is saying that gun confiscation that may be tolerated in big cities it wont be tolerated in small towns. The overall message is that small town communities band together to take care of each other in a way that big cities don't. This creates an overall atmosphere in small cities where big city actions and policies aren't allowed.

So hard being a mom these days, but the opportunity to sit and have serious conversations with them could not be greater. Teaching our youth to think critically and know how to correctly debate on a topic, as well as learn to listen (we cant always be right and we can't shove our ideologies down other peoples throats) is paramount today. What with people basically parroting social media without doing the proper research means we have a whole generation that isnt thinking for themselves or thinking about the collective. There is such a thing as right or wrong, and the old saying of "two wrongs don't make a right" is so relevant today!

I love that your children have different views on the song, it's refreshing that she has her own mind. None of you thought that it was racist and that's what counts, you don't have to like it or even like that kind of music. However, lot of modern rap just glorifies drugs, guns and degrading women. That song could be used as a good family discussion on the things that are going on over there.

Everyone needs to realize we are in this together and we are supposed to help each other and be kind to each other and look out for each other!! And that seems to be all this man is trying to sing about so well done momma!

Beautiful, respectful young adults! Wish more parents sit their kids down for talks and explain, "what is real and what media wants you to think is real." You can use this same sentence, replace "media" with "politicians", "school system", "woke" and "Satan". God bless you and your family💖🙏💖

This may be the most wonderful thing I’ve ever seen on RUclips. A beautiful, smart mom sitting with her kids and having a real conversation, helping them think for themselves. Ma’am, you are what we need more of in this world. And to the kids, oh you beautiful souls, you 3 are blessed beyond measure with a mom like that, and I know without a doubt that all of you have bright futures ahead. She is making sure of that.

Much respect for your effort to teach your children. I believe it is us parents duty to make sure that they truly understand what they see. We know kids can easily be persuaded into believing things that are not true. You took the time to show them then ask questions then explain what you saw. Your a great mother, your kids are being taught good values.

Loved the thoughtful discord amongst family members! That's something that seems to be sadly lacking in modern day America. Feelings are just that, feelings. Those feelings need to be challenged to make sure they have a solid basis for belief or else they remain...just feelings. I have lots of feelings and beliefs but I'm forever grateful for a mother who challenged me to back them up!
Great job mom, getting your kiddos to THINK, not just feel!

That was so cool to witness. When she asked for you to cut that out I'm glad you didn't. Not only was it a perfect example of teaching, but it was an awesome example of being a mother and guiding your children with logic and reasoning. I'm a dad, and a lot of times I'm at work and don't see these type of things my wife does. Just wanted to say thanks for that.

BTW, to those saying this song is racist: If you listen to a song and watch a video about violent crime but black people are neither mentioned in lyrics nor shown in the video 99% of the time, and yet your mind immediately assumes the song and video are about black people- YOU are the racist. YOU are the one who hears and sees violent crime and think about black people- which is VERY wrong and very racist. I heard this song 3 weeks ago before any of the controversy, and it never even occurred to me that it could be about black people. Not for a moment. That's because I don't automatically link black people with violent crime in my mind. Those who do are the ones being racist, not the people who wrote, sang, or produced the song and video. They were all simply talking about all violent criminals and how they might not get away with their crimes in a small town. Those whose minds immediate linked the song and video to black people and then got made about it....they are the ones who have racial stereotypes.
