Joey: "if this were any other country that bag and watch would be gone." Aki: "see the thing about Japan is, your friends would leave you there drunk and you would regret everything the next day." Me: Japan's standards confuse me...
Thank God, or whoever, that this good and totally reasonable comment didn't foster a firestorm of charged, angry replies like they usually do, and same with Aki's statement at the beginning.
dude help your friends even if they are THAT drunk. I had my times like this, my friends helped. My friends had times like this, I helped. So none of us has pics on the social media like this. we cover each others bad. It sometimes happenes. Its an unwritten rule in where I live I guess. No one ever leaves their friends like this and if they do, they are dougebags. if one of us leaves the one other, its a big no no. Just emphatize, pls help your friends, they may be in a bad head space.
This is the common etiquette where I am too (at least in the groups that I've been with)! Especially that part about not taking videos of actual drunk drunk friends.
To add to this. It's especially important in colder climates to make sure your friends get home safely because you don't know when and where their gonna pass out and sadly (at least where I live) there have been cases of people freezing to death because their friends just left them. So please make sure your friends get home safely and help those who have been left alone by their friends.
I'm really late to this, but aye, no person lets left behind. You make sure everyone gets home safe. You never leave someone on their own. Especially when its a group of girls, we have to protect each other. God know's if you'd die of hypothermia, get attacked, get assaulted, get taken home by someone...you don't just leave people behind. If you did that here, everyone would know by the next morning, and you're going to never be spoken to again. Leaving a drunk friend behind is excomunication material.

Thank you Aki. I literally just finished having a panic attack after exploding on my friends because I've been so burnt out over everything going on. I have a pregnant sister and a baby sister a block from where some riots happened and I have family in very bad situations due to covid where they won't be able to escape until everything calms down and I've just run out of mental space to be empathetic. I remember this drunk moment all too well. My family had met up to go drinking (I was 16 so, I just had a glass of coke or something). I went to the bathroom around midnight and there was a line. One stall door opened and closed, the other didn't. Someone asked if they could lift me, so I can make sure the person wasn't dead. I cautiously agreed. Once looking over the stall, I saw this girl, on the floor, passed out, and the toilet bowl was smashed. And I mean, the left side was pretty much gone. I just got put down and we told a manager.

I remember on my school exchange trip to Tokyo I saw a lady on the side walk passed out with her belongings on the ground next to her. I asked one of the Japanese students I was walking with about this since I was absolutely confused and concerned about the lady. She told me that it was normal for people to pass out drunk on the streets and not have their belongings stolen since Japan is pretty safe which was completely mind boggling to me. Any other country and things might've not ended well for her... Japan is a very interesting country.
