Brilliant excuse to show Enho flinging Akua around half a dozen times. I’ll be rewatching that clip on my deathbed. XD

Every toss, throw, pull, push, side-swipe, grab and clothes line, lol... everything has a name! It must have taken years to name every nuance (and then a few more years to get everyone to agree! Lol! You're knowledge of Sumo is really quite admirable Chris! Thank you Sir!

This is what happens when your martial art is over a thousand years old lol

I would not be surprised if some of these names were something that the announcer or some commentator pulled out of their arse when some rikishi did a new move and it needed to be named on the spot.
      Happens in other sports.

And imo Chris here's where you earn your bucks. Superb knowledge of sumo techniques and perfectly clear explanations.
With no pretentious word smithing or biased emotionalism. Drama-free reporting. Finally!

Could you make a video about Sumo striking? Like the open hand strikes used in Sumo to palm strike the face and open hand yoke the throat. And the forearm strike to the face. And head butting the face, head to head. We sometime see impressive knockouts by the forearm strike under the chin.

I think that many prejudices that people have about Sumo could be overcome thanks to videos like yours. Showing the technical aspect of this amazing sport (or should I say martial art?) is one of the best way in my opinion to achieve that goal.

Sumo rikishi Teppo strikes are very powerful. They train the palms on a large wooden upright teppo post buried into the earth.
