- Remotely Piloted Aircraft provide persistent airpower and are operated primarily by the RPA Pilot. This is one of the newest and most innovative areas of the Air Force with plenty of room for future operations and growth.

i just got an annoucement for air national guard recruitment for this position, now I'm really interested after watching this video. thanks
I’d say there’s a decent chance you could deploy, but with all things “it depends”.
I’m joining as a RPA SO, how’s the relationships between pilots and SOs?
Do you work with one pilot or do you work with whoever is available at that time
i'm not certain how assignments are made, but i imagine they're handled by the scheduler similar to other operations squadrons. you can get more info here: ruclips.net/video/bmi63NkPaXc/видео.html
According to news articles including Air Force times, there is a shortage of drone pilots. As of 2022, there is low enrollment in the military in general. How does the hiring board select someone to learn to operate drones? It seems like qualification is a problem not a competitive field. Not arguing just wanted to mention this because apparently every job is competitive
there’s always a need for pilots of all kinds, not because it’s difficult to recruit them, but the struggle to retain them.
Thanks for sharing.
What are the contributing factors that have made it challenging for remote aircraft pilots not to see the need to continue working in this field?
Do you have to have any drone experience prior to commissioning, or is all the training through the Air Force?
no previous experience required.
Can you do rpa thru rotc?
yes.
I have a question, do you need normal color vision to become an RPA pilot?
yes.
Where the hell can I find accurate salaries for Airforce jobs?
Pay and benefits for Air Force officers. (MORE than just money!)

Are the RPAs still on the air force needs?
yes. the Air Force is always looking for qualified rated officers, which includes RPA pilots.
So you do get your pilot license still?
no.
Yes, you get your PPL,IRL, and commercial I believe
yes
There's such thing as a happy Predator pilot. They spend four years getting commissioned, then spend an entire year learning how to fly only to be deployed to a cubicle in Nevada remotely flying an airplane 10,000 miles away. A huge waste of talent. The Army does it right; they use enlisted guys to fly Gray Eagles on site.
there are RPA pilots who disagree with you.
@@airforceofficerpodcast I met about 90 Predator pilots 2000-2209 as part of 53rd Wing mishap investigations. Morale was ZERO. It was really ugly. Perhaps the AF finally fixed the problem. I've heard they now take non-rated officers to fly Predators.
@@agrxdrowflow958 As a Pred and Reaper ISO, that is not accurate, morale is like 75 among both Pilots and Sensor Operators and Yes 18Xers are RPA pilots.
The missions and the technology used in the AF are more sophisticated.
