This ranks as one of the best video demos I’ve seen because it clearly explains the fundamentals. The way you critique your own work, and then tweaked it to reenforce your point … brilliant. Truly you are a great teacher / coach. Thank you.
Hi Chris. For some reason I keep watching your videos, or should I say coming back to them. Whatever you are doing, don't stop. Always enjoying the advice you give.
Chris, as always your videos continue to reinforce our basics skills, which allows us to review our work on and off and better them as we continue to aim for the best. Thanks so much. Blessings and take care.
Good stuff sir. Just getting back into art at 49; but this time I'm overloading myself with acrylic/oil and watercolor. I'm also going to paint duplicates in digital. You've got a great channel with quick little exercises and that's perfect for me. Cheers, Marc.
I don’t know if you’ll ever read my comment, but you sir helped me love oil painting. I paint as a hobby and your style of teaching and tips are easy to understand, apply and I almost always get the desired results. Thank you, lots of love and respect from Saudi Arabia.
Hey man thank you so much for putting this content for free out there! I was wondering if you could do a video on what you take with you for plein air painting. I’m going to go camping soon but don’t really know what to bring?
As far as ecosystems, my brain was screaming abt that palm tree w/those wetland trees & the kayak. I told myself it’s the Nile but my brain said nah. Maybe the water’s to still to be a river? Yes, I’m trying to get over myself.😂 It’s all great content! TY so much for teaching these skills! ❤
Which one of your videos teach us how to prep the paint? How much paint to put on the tray? Do you always use an additive - or straight from the tube? What consistency should it be?
I'm in the middle of a painting, sunset seascape. Convinced myself though it's half and half,I can make it work.Big mistake. I'll just trim the panel when I'm done, sorted.
So you darkened the lights to a midtone...wouldn't changing the color of the kayak to a coplementary like red or yellow do the same thing to make it focal point?
is it ok to work from image when starting out? or should we start working from life? and If it's fine to start off from working with images will the transition to painting life be smooth or will it be different?
Hi, Big fan of yours. I don't know if you'll read this, or if anyone in the comment section can help, I recently started a painting, like 3 days ago, and for some strange reason, I felt like fainting at the end of my paint session today. I still feel that way. I use Windsor and Newton, and I've been painting indoors, with a fan. Do I need to get medical attention, or will this wear out.
A lot of the same topics get repeated in your videos, & it's really helping me. Beating the fundamentals into my head! Quick question... What kind of brush cleaner/thinner do you use? Thanks, coach!
So I have got tube oil paints sir and I couldn't just start. I am scared because once I accidently started it without mixing it with medium in order for it to blend. And my canvas got ruined. I then fixed it with acrylics because they were easy to use and I have been using them for quite a long time. I don't know how you carry oil paints so well where it doesn't even come off the brush. How well you make use of them in such big portraits and I tried and ruined my painting 😮
I have a question,I want to sub to your patron but my question is,are the videos in order for total beginners? Like going from the total beginner to advanced or are they random? If you answer,I will sub according to that.

Everything you talk about makes so much sense. The changes you made completely changed this painting

I see a face in the bush at 3:00 and I can't unsee it. Also I love the Loomis book on head and hands. Life changer!
I can’t tell you how many tutorials I’ve watched and by far you are the BEST at breaking it down in a way I actually understand! LOVE IT 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I think someday I will try oil painting but for right now I am a digital artist and your videos are helping me grow leaps and bounds. Thanks Coach!

Great episode! I especially gained a lot from your discussions of the "fails" and how you corrected them. Thank you!
Being a process based kind of person, it is really helpful to have a check list to refer back to. Thanks for the video.
I’ve missed seeing you post painting tips. You help me when I paint. I hope you don’t stay away too long your great.

Awesome Chris. Can you make a video on how to paint from imagination. Would really appreciate it. 🙏
Great suggestion!
@@paintcoach thanks Chris! I love that painting you did 8:30. The subject matter, the colors, the vibes, it has a story to tell. Great work
I would add perspective, and figures/objects in perspective, to your list.
Very interesting and good tips. Thanks

What would you recommend as a first painting to an absolute beginner
