That was the HHC and B Co barracks of 501st Support Battalion. The building across the street is the Class XI. That’s my friend Joe Grogan’s orange BMW 2002. Lots of memories resounding with me right now.

Saw MANY movies at that theater...movies I wouldn't have otherwise watched if it hadn't been the only thing to do that night...what WAS the name of the theater??? James...something or other...??? Remember standing for the National Anthem before every movie??? Most expensive movie I saw while in Germany was The Godfather - IIRC it was $3.50...AND I saw it at the post 'Theater' in Ansbach - the replacement depot - the theater was an only maintenance garage...flat floor with a home movie style screen and folding metal chairs...

So on the last day I drove to the Vehicle Inspection point. Sgt Thompson and 5 or 6 guys there. I said: car for sale. One Dollar. Sgt Ross yelled I give you two.
I yelled SOLD. LOL. He gave me.2 Bucks and I gave him the Key and the Signed Title. Lol. Everybody just looked stunned. Lol. I said well you could have said 3.
And I walked out. Loved Illesheim. 1 1/2 hour drive from my Home Town Coburg.

Illesheim used to look like that? Its a dead base now with units just doing their m4 and pistol range there. The polizei trains there too. Im currently stationed in shipton but live in bleidorn. I have never been to stork barracks.
From what i could research, shipton was shut down and vacant in 2014, 5-4 ada was stood up in shipton on 2018. Urlas px, commissary was open in 2012. The 1-57 ada was stood up in barton barracks in 2023. Barton was operating as vehicle registration, gas station, and german contractors but dont see soldiers living and working there until last year. I heard there was another base that shut down in the early 90s, hindinburg kaserne but now its the berken center german mall. Much of bleidorn has been returned to germany, part of the former bleidorn is a polizei station and ansbach university.

They would throw beer bottles up at us as we had our heads stuck out of the 2nd floor windows. We would throw crap back at them, too funny.
