On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8. - Игры

What was last thing that went through GW's mind in the first round? 20mm rounds
😂😂😂
🤣
Well played. 😂
Too soon? Nah…
I find it amusing that when someone settles GS's account with the gun, 50% of the time he gets turned into red goo...
But when he (more often than not) wins with the gun... his opponent figures out he's had it, pulls the chicken handle and survives.
Why does GS get KIA with the gun so often?
Amazing attention to detail that a plane passing that close under you activates the check gear warning.
You can troll the 18 and the 14 (maybe any plane with Radar Altimeter warnings but I know those 2 for sure) by passing within 200 ft of them. It'll trigger their extra low altitude warning if they set it up and if they aren't really paying attention or are heads down they'll give some funny reactions. lol
eh, they're probably using raycasting to detect alt, so that attention to detail is actually just a side effect
Still here at 11:38 and I’m not going anywhere. I’m glad I found this channel. As someone with a long-standing interest in military aviation and ACM this is super cool
me too
There is a bigger story behind the F-15 than the plane, but the guys that pushed for its design. It was rejected many times at first, or was refused funding until an actual pilot (I think) came into the program. We almost never had the F-15.
It would be interesting to see how 2v2 matches might change the dynamics of dogfights. For example, would a pair of 18's have fared better vs a pair of 15's, or would it have largely been the same?
Imagine one of thoae cinematic 17v17 matches but guns only 😳
BVR F-15s can pick up bandits at 50-70 miles depending on parameters and the F/A-18s radar can about 40-50 max.
F-15 can go higher and faster and sees further than the F/A-18.
It's exactly the engagement the F-15 was built for.
If AWACS is in play, the F-18's datalink could possibly be enough of an advantage to maybe change the outcome.
@@ImperiumLibertas current radar can pick up at well over 100. actual engagement is of course much shorter, really equal for both aircraft since all the weaponry is shared.
@@chadwarden593 bvr meaning?
I like to see this switching seats so we can see how pilot skill affects the outcome of the fight.

I stayed all the way through the vid like I almost always do. Love engagements like this with any mix of F-14, 15, 16, 18 versus each other. Thanks for all the great content! I’ve watched sooooo many of your videos!
Always stick around for the whole videos with these. But yeah really lived seeing both sides of this scenario instead of just one plane. Like sometimes it's fun seeing how much one aircraft can just dominate the other, but it's always really cool seeing the decision making on both sides and how knowing the capabilities of each aircraft can make such a difference
Watched all of it!
If you are taking requests (and I realize the logistics of this are difficult) but package missions would be fun to watch. Multi-plane defenders against a strike package with a designated strike aircraft and designated planes to defend them.
Yeah same, I was there to the conclusion of round four. I don't recall ever quitting one of your videos early?
That would be awesome
the eagle's 104 kills to 0 loses is not to be underestimated
It is in my eyes. It mainly went against much inferior aircraft and pilots. I mean the Su-27 havent been shot down in air to air engagements as well.
@@Mike_Romeo two SU-27s have been lost to Ukrainian Mig-29s, and 3 more to US made stingers, not counting airstrikes on airfrields
@@saltyfloridaman7163 Are there any confirmed sources for that MiG kills ?
@@noidontthinksolol please show me
@mikeromeo9652 those pilots were experienced and successful in combat, that certainly gave them an edge going into the fight with the US Air Force.
you can really see in some of the gun shots how the small hud of the dcs f-15C kinda limits you in terms of getting the pipper on target easily cause there is basicly no time between the pipper coming on screen and you needing to shot. Lucky for us, the Strike Eagle has a bigger Hud :) god im so hyped for strike eagle.
I love longer videos like these, especially when the two planes are so closely matched (it seems) in a dog fight.
And as the video demonstrates, they're not super closely matched. F 15 is a heavy fighter, with a kid of 104-0 while the f 18 is a multi role plane. Not really surprised to see the f 18 lose honestly.
Man, once I start your videos, i GOTTA finish them. No bailing out in the middle of a dog fight. Awesome content.
That ‘check gear’ xD
F-15 being huge and 18 being used to carrier landings, I could almost see it happen
"Come, little bug! Ride upon my back. We must go protect The Freedom. SKRAAWWW!"

Love the content and always enjoy the longer videos! Then again, I'll also watch Spudknockers 1 hour+ long videos straight through. I also truly enjoy how you explain everything as it happens. It's actually made me a better pilot in DCS. Keep up the great work
Stuck around for sure......F15 vs F18 is a hell of a fight. It really comes down to experience and knowing your losing queues. I loved every second of this video. Thanks!
You should do the US vs Russia thing again but with the rule that you can't choose the same jet twice so it's more interesting.
Do like 5 or 6 rounds so you can have different engagements.
Also make it bandit unknown so you have to choose your jet carefully.
i-16 enters the round. :D
I truly admire your determination.
Very determined, seems interesting
Stuck around for the whole video. Awesome to see how each fighter has a set of advantages and disadvantages.
Sounding off as one of those who sticks around till the end of your vids! Always had an interest in aviation and your vids honestly make me wanna get a PC to get into DCS. Looks like such a fun experience. That F15 is definitely a favorite fighter, it’s got that perfect mix of beauty, elegance and lethality
Always stick around for the full video, you can't make them too long. Awesome stuff as always.
Sad to see the hornet lose so much in this video. I always root for the hornet, mostly because my dad flew them in the US marines. It's such a cool aircraft.
Guess you could blame the pilot 🤷😂 jkjk
Air Force baby!
@@bastadimasta My dad calls them the "chair force" XD. He has reason for it though, having been in the Marines.
@@danielcmasters I suppose so.
My uncle flew them in the marines too! And my dads friend. My dad flew the CH-46 (helicopters are better!) but ultimately I expected the F-15 to destroy the hornet
Both are great airplanes. But I find myself always pulling for the F15, unless there was an F14 TomCat in the fight.
The f15 definitely has a soft spot in my heart.
Tomcats for LIFE!
I worked on F18’s and being tall cannot say how many flap or landing gear stabs I’ve received from Hornets. First time around a Eagle was gobsmacked how tall it was. I could walk upright under its wing.
@@Man0War Same here was born in 87 all I ever wanted to do was get into the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs was determined to be an F-15 Pilot but didn’t work out that way I got accepted and was well on my way and my back gave out on me :( have had many surgeries since then. Just wasn’t meant to be I guess. Man do I love the F-15 though.

" it was at this moment that he knew. . . . . . . he f****d up "
Love the longer videos. It's great to see you give eachother chances to even the score. Also great when you're teaching and smacking hum on the wrist but you do it politely and in a friendly manner. Just another reason I love your channel
Classic!! "At this moment he Knew he " Keep up the Great work
I like it when you switch up the aircraft in these fights
Also, yeah I almost always watch till the end of these.
Me too.
Almost?
I stuck around for the whole show, loved it! if you want requests it would be nice to have a video explaining the how the fighters and awacs work together, while killing a ridiculous number of enemies.
F-15 is such a beast. Still relevant 50 years on, can kill you BVR, rate fight, knife fight etc…. Only downside now is that it has the radar cross section of a barn. AIM-260 will probably keep it going for while though.
It's also worth mentioning that the F-15 was NOT considered for HAVE GLASS V signature reduction measures - only the F-16, F-22 and F-35. My theory is that it's part of the F-15's arsenal to be that visible - "Yes, you see me. You're not going to be able to do anything with it."
I remember as a kid in the 70s the F15s at Eglin AFB!!! My Dad RIP used to take me to the Airfield and watch them doing touch n go's.
I’ve always been an F-15 fan. Great to see it get a chance to show its superiority over the F-18 in a dominant fashion.
Not sure it is dominant though. That thrust to weight ratio makes the difference in the margin of error however. Hornet has to be absolutely perfect.
I think it's a case of GS dominance. What ever GS flies will win, almost every time except when he gets shot in the face..
Its the superior fighter here.
Fun Video. But what caught my eye immediately, was the first turn over Anderson North then over Anderson AFB. I have seen that view a lot in my flying experience. Very cool to see familiar landmarks during all the twisties. Great SA builder. keep up the fun videos. I really enjoy them.
Stayed to the end. Fantastic fights as always. I love to see the dissimilar engagements between two competent, but very different platforms.
Always stick around for the late rounds
Still there in the 4th round... what a great dogfight that was
Amazing fights, watched all the way through. The F-15 is such a amazing machine to this day. I cant imagine what it must have been like when it arrived on the scene.
I've watched enough of GS's videos to know that when the title says "X plane vs Y plane" really what he means is "Let me show you its not the plane, it's the pilot using X and Y airframe" lol
I've learned so much watching your videos. I started watching your videos before I even had a PC and now that I have my whole setup I'm finally able to try the things I've been seeing for years. Thank you for the great content and keep up the great work man! :)
Such a good matchup. And when GS said "better lift vector placement might have won that for him", you seriously realise the knowledge/skills on show here.
@@potatosuc4950 nope
I watch every video to the end GS, I cant get enough. Your quality and the learning i get from you is so awesome. Thankyou for the amazing content you always deliver. I don't even play DCS(yet) and still watch them everyday
Definitely stuck to the bitter end... for the poor Hornet. It is very enjoyable to watch your dogfighting, especially when you explain the strategies and tactics that you're doing--and the ones the bandit is going to use right before he uses them. You do a very good job explaining the terms you use, but I somehow missed the exact definition of 'stacking'. Thanks and keep it up.
The Hornet is inferior, but not by that much! I think both of them could have flown better. They made a lot of mistakes.
Thank you so much for doing this growling.
Amazing content as usual. Keep it up! ❤️
Really enjoy this. Love seeing the old F-14 and F-15 still showing their mettle.
I'm still here. Lol
That was one of the best BFM videos you've done. Very tense the whole time. Great flying by both. Love the commentary about each aircraft's strengths and weaknesses. I thought it was very interesting the whole time start to finish.
Where’s the video?
Hey Growling Sidewinder, I would love to see some more cinematic shots of you just flying around the most beautiful maps in your opinion with a variety of planes. Just doing some air tricks, low level passes and dives. :)
Love your ACM videos. They’re a lot of fun to watch.
Always watch your stuff till the end. It’s amazing to watch you fly, I can’t get enough of it.
I, for one, watch all the rounds. Good stuff. Here's a question. In cases of close encounters, are jet wash and turbulence simulated? Can they affect your flight in the simulator?
I watch every single clip you do. Unfortunately i don´t have VR and i can´t be good in the sim. Learning a lot from you, keep up with it please. :)
You could try TrackIR or similar head-tracking alternatives. It's cheaper than VR and you get the clarity of a monitor. I tried VR but sent it back.
@@JETZcorp i recently tried Oculus and compared to what i knew, my performance improved only because i was able to move my head naturally. I have a good specs, i wonder if time spent in the sim is the only barrier. Am i the only one thinking you can't dogfight on a flat screen. 😋
I loved the entire video! Amazing
That car driving by at the end was close enough to give Sidewalk a lift home. Really enjoyed swapping seats, I know you can't always make it happen bc everyone needs the same modules.
This surprised me. I was assuming the F-15 would win easily. Sounds like it’s still a better dogfighted but it’s not so dominant that it’s completely one-sided.
Does the F-18E have similar results?
The F-18 is a remarkably maneuverable aircraft. Remember, it was based on the YF-17, which competed against the YF-16 for the contract that would produce the Viper. So it's got a lot of the same energy-maneuverability theory behind it. And it was designed from the start with multirole capability, so it didn't suffer the same kind of slow degradation of dogfighting performance that the F-16 did.
The F/A-18 is deadly if encountered in its ideal arena: low altitude and low speed. Even against an F-16 when comes to high alpha capability. Current F/A-18E seems slightly less agile, with more emphasis on range, payload, avionics. But still dangerous. I've always been afraid of the Hornet, all considered.
That said, the F-15 is overall superior in many aspects. Obviously is a far superior BVR platform, but even in the dogfight, if the pilot keep attention and mantain the clash in the high energy arena (higher speeds and altitudes, exploiting the vertical thanks to its phenomenal t/w ratio), it has the upper hand.
@@andreabindolini7452 The Super Hornet is effectively a different aircraft, so I'm not sure how it would perform. But there's one thing I do know: it would still be a mistake for it to go vertical with a F-15. There's some things you just don't do. XD
Let's gooo! FINALLY!
I watch all your vids to the end! You are very entertaining to watch! I appreciate how knowledgeable you are with all the planes you fly.
I watch your videos from beginning to end everytime my dude. Enjoy the longer ones!
ooo new video
For some reason it’s not letting me watch the video
I'm curious about the relationships between some of these planes. I noticed the Hornet avionics produce that hi-to-lo tone at the merge like the F-14, and the Hornet's cockpit has some strong similarities to the cockpit of the Strike Eagle. The F-22s cockpit also looks like a highly modernized version of the Hornet. I take it these planes are using many of the same components?
USAF versus Navy requirements. Neither one like the other very much, like West Coast versus East Coast rappers. When you sit in a Navy jet it even smells different than an Air Force one. The debacle with the F-111 program showed that in spades.
Stuck around to the end GS. Nice vids as usual keep em coming.
Real world. In 1992 above Kunsan AB Korea I observed an F-15C and an F-18C both flown by Wing Commanders go one on one. Dog fight started above 20, 000 feet and stayed inside the perimeter of the base. From the start the F-15 was on the F-18s tail and stayed there till they were down to tree top level. The dog fight lasted over 20 minutes and at no time could the F-18 come even close to getting away from the F-15. As the fight progressed you could see the F-18 piolet was getting desperate and frustrated. The f-18 airframe just isn't that nimble. An F-16 really tears them up. Fantastic avionics on the F-18 though.
It’s not working man
Do you have the ability to do an F-18 vs F-18 super hornet dogfight?
Already been done
F18 super hornet vs J15 or Su33 would be cool
I sometimes refer to the Super Hornet as the Sea Eagle Mk II, because that's what it essentially is. ;)
All 4 rounds were beautiful fights, love seeing this aerial dancing.
Round 4 Still here. Love the longer fights. Great stuff. Thanks.
I watch your full vids GS. You usually have a good closing summary that’s worth it IMO.
That was hilarious at 14:12 when the Hornet crashed by the side of the road while a car drives by.
The F-15 just slamming the rudders to one side to slot in behind, so good
I stayed through the end and found it very instructive. Many thanks!
Love the long vids, nice flying and keep up the good work GS!
Really loving your videos man, I feel like I could watch them all day long. I'm going to be sad when I run out of videos!

Checking in on round 4, appreciate the amount of rounds to see the different outcomes in different scenarios
Watched all four rounds. Great contact. Thanks for the good work.
I watch your videos all the way through.
Round 2 was pretty sick! Loved that you guys traded blows lol.
Your videos are gold! If they were 30 minutes long I'd watch every minute. Consider doing mission long ones and some close air support ones would be good.
Stuck around for all the fights, haven’t seen the F-15 va F-18 BFM dogfight yet, so I watched it all!
Grew up near Luke AFB. I can still remember a kid jumping up n down on the school bus yelling, "The F-15s are coming!" after they announced Luke would be the/a training base for them. Biking out to the end of the runway they were so cool looking compared to the F-4s and F-104s. Very cool they`re still dealing.
I love the 4- and 5-round fights. Never get bored.
Precision on those 2 F-18 splashes. Sawed off the wing, so hard to control when you got them in the hub, you really gotta pick a plane and hoping the aircraft is in that line
15's can fly with 1 wing ;)
I stayed for the whole video. Nicely done!
High thrust to weight and great nose authority vs Borderline thrust vectored nose authority, i sure love to see these kinds of fights!
Imagine being that NPC at 14:10, just casually driving to your NPC job when a hornet crashes in front of you 😆
