I find it amusing that when someone settles GS's account with the gun, 50% of the time he gets turned into red goo... But when he (more often than not) wins with the gun... his opponent figures out he's had it, pulls the chicken handle and survives. Why does GS get KIA with the gun so often?
Still here at 11:38 and I’m not going anywhere. I’m glad I found this channel. As someone with a long-standing interest in military aviation and ACM this is super cool
You can troll the 18 and the 14 (maybe any plane with Radar Altimeter warnings but I know those 2 for sure) by passing within 200 ft of them. It'll trigger their extra low altitude warning if they set it up and if they aren't really paying attention or are heads down they'll give some funny reactions. lol
There is a bigger story behind the F-15 than the plane, but the guys that pushed for its design. It was rejected many times at first, or was refused funding until an actual pilot (I think) came into the program. We almost never had the F-15.
It would be interesting to see how 2v2 matches might change the dynamics of dogfights. For example, would a pair of 18's have fared better vs a pair of 15's, or would it have largely been the same?
BVR F-15s can pick up bandits at 50-70 miles depending on parameters and the F/A-18s radar can about 40-50 max. F-15 can go higher and faster and sees further than the F/A-18. It's exactly the engagement the F-15 was built for.
@@ImperiumLibertas current radar can pick up at well over 100. actual engagement is of course much shorter, really equal for both aircraft since all the weaponry is shared.

you can really see in some of the gun shots how the small hud of the dcs f-15C kinda limits you in terms of getting the pipper on target easily cause there is basicly no time between the pipper coming on screen and you needing to shot. Lucky for us, the Strike Eagle has a bigger Hud :) god im so hyped for strike eagle.
And as the video demonstrates, they're not super closely matched. F 15 is a heavy fighter, with a kid of 104-0 while the f 18 is a multi role plane. Not really surprised to see the f 18 lose honestly.
F-15 is such a beast. Still relevant 50 years on, can kill you BVR, rate fight, knife fight etc…. Only downside now is that it has the radar cross section of a barn. AIM-260 will probably keep it going for while though.
It's also worth mentioning that the F-15 was NOT considered for HAVE GLASS V signature reduction measures - only the F-16, F-22 and F-35. My theory is that it's part of the F-15's arsenal to be that visible - "Yes, you see me. You're not going to be able to do anything with it."
You should do the US vs Russia thing again but with the rule that you can't choose the same jet twice so it's more interesting. Do like 5 or 6 rounds so you can have different engagements. Also make it bandit unknown so you have to choose your jet carefully.

As the fight progressed you could see the F-18 piolet was getting desperate and frustrated. The f-18 airframe just isn't that nimble. An F-16 really tears them up. Fantastic avionics on the F-18 though.
Hey Growling Sidewinder, I would love to see some more cinematic shots of you just flying around the most beautiful maps in your opinion with a variety of planes. Just doing some air tricks, low level passes and dives. :)
Definitely stuck to the bitter end... for the poor Hornet. It is very enjoyable to watch your dogfighting, especially when you explain the strategies and tactics that you're doing--and the ones the bandit is going to use right before he uses them. You do a very good job explaining the terms you use, but I somehow missed the exact definition of 'stacking'. Thanks and keep it up.
That car driving by at the end was close enough to give Sidewalk a lift home. Really enjoyed swapping seats, I know you can't always make it happen bc everyone needs the same modules.
Such a good matchup. And when GS said "better lift vector placement might have won that for him", you seriously realise the knowledge/skills on show here.
This surprised me. I was assuming the F-15 would win easily. Sounds like it’s still a better dogfighted but it’s not so dominant that it’s completely one-sided. Does the F-18E have similar results?
The F-18 is a remarkably maneuverable aircraft. Remember, it was based on the YF-17, which competed against the YF-16 for the contract that would produce the Viper. So it's got a lot of the same energy-maneuverability theory behind it. And it was designed from the start with multirole capability, so it didn't suffer the same kind of slow degradation of dogfighting performance that the F-16 did.
The F/A-18 is deadly if encountered in its ideal arena: low altitude and low speed. Even against an F-16 when comes to high alpha capability. Current F/A-18E seems slightly less agile, with more emphasis on range, payload, avionics. But still dangerous. I've always been afraid of the Hornet, all considered. That said, the F-15 is overall superior in many aspects. Obviously is a far superior BVR platform, but even in the dogfight, if the pilot keep attention and mantain the clash in the high energy arena (higher speeds and altitudes, exploiting the vertical thanks to its phenomenal t/w ratio), it has the upper hand.
@@andreabindolini7452 The Super Hornet is effectively a different aircraft, so I'm not sure how it would perform. But there's one thing I do know: it would still be a mistake for it to go vertical with a F-15. There's some things you just don't do. XD

Hell yeah, was going to stick around for this- the interesting fights are often in the comments, love that you went ahead and put some ideas to the test!
Watched all the way till the end. Here's one idea for a dogfight: F-16 vs. Gripen. You did one, but before adjustments to F-16s flight model. The question now would be - how long could Gripen survive before having its a$$ handed over by an F-16? Probably keeping it once circle would help. Also, to spice things up a little, start at a BVR where I think Gripen has a fighting chance.
Still here! Actually I watch on my 85 inch 4K tv cus it has a better picture than my computer but I can't comment from the youtube app on the tv. Love the long ones, the short ones, and all of them in-between! Keep'em coming
Your videos are gold! If they were 30 minutes long I'd watch every minute. Consider doing mission long ones and some close air support ones would be good.
Grew up near Luke AFB. I can still remember a kid jumping up n down on the school bus yelling, "The F-15s are coming!" after they announced Luke would be the/a training base for them. Biking out to the end of the runway they were so cool looking compared to the F-4s and F-104s. Very cool they`re still dealing.
man i would love to see a 2v2, see how the fights turn out when its not just a 1v1 but you have to keep the other bandit in mind while communicating with your team mate
Of course I watch the whole video. I enjoy these so much. They are informative, interesting, exciting and can be funny as hell when you accidentally get smoked which you always take in stride.
Precision on those 2 F-18 splashes. Sawed off the wing, so hard to control when you got them in the hub, you really gotta pick a plane and hoping the aircraft is in that line
this outcome makes sense as the F-15 is designed to be a pure air superiority fighter and has greater thrust to weight ratio. F-18s are more multirole - both are dangerous machines.
One funny thing about that F-15C, is that is has MO on the vertical stabilizer, meaning it is from Mountain Home Air Force Base in Mountain Home Idaho (where I live). and the streak is indicating that it is the 390th Bolt Tiger, which they fly the F-15E strike eagle. so I thought that was funny that the squadron was on a F-15C instead of F-15E.
In that last round, the guy in the white car right at the end is gonna have a helluva story to tell when he gets to the office.......after he changes his shorts, of course.

The question now would be - how long could Gripen survive before having its a$$ handed over by an F-16? Probably keeping it once circle would help. Also, to spice things up a little, start at a BVR where I think Gripen has a fighting chance.

" it was at this moment that he knew. . . . . . . he f****d up "
Still here! Actually I watch on my 85 inch 4K tv cus it has a better picture than my computer but I can't comment from the youtube app on the tv. Love the long ones, the short ones, and all of them in-between! Keep'em coming
Love these long videos! Been watching over two years now💪🏻
Really loving your videos man, I feel like I could watch them all day long. I'm going to be sad when I run out of videos!
Thanks man appreciate you
Watched all four rounds. Great contact. Thanks for the good work.
I loved the entire video! Amazing
I stayed through the end and found it very instructive. Many thanks!
I watch your full vids GS. You usually have a good closing summary that’s worth it IMO.
Stuck around for the whole vid! Great vid keep it up!
I stayed for the whole video. Nicely done!
I watch all your vids to the end! You are very entertaining to watch! I appreciate how knowledgeable you are with all the planes you fly.
Stayed the whole time like usual. loving the recent videos
High thrust to weight and great nose authority vs Borderline thrust vectored nose authority, i sure love to see these kinds of fights!
Your videos are gold! If they were 30 minutes long I'd watch every minute. Consider doing mission long ones and some close air support ones would be good.
I def stick it out the the end, most of the time. This was a great video! Always love your content!
I watch your videos from beginning to end everytime my dude. Enjoy the longer ones!
That was hilarious at 14:12 when the Hornet crashed by the side of the road while a car drives by.
Love the longer vids. Always stick around for the end.
I love the longer videos man I always stick around
man i would love to see a 2v2, see how the fights turn out when its not just a 1v1 but you have to keep the other bandit in mind while communicating with your team mate
GS, watched the Whole Thing. That first one had me laughing. Keep up the great work.
Stuck around for the whole video, love your stuff
Of course I watch the whole video. I enjoy these so much. They are informative, interesting, exciting and can be funny as hell when you accidentally get smoked which you always take in stride.
I watch your videos all the way through.
Round 2 was pretty sick! Loved that you guys traded blows lol.
You know, the F15’s wing and elevons looks pretty similar to that of a MIG29, so it makes sense it would that some kind of one circle capability
Love the long vids, nice flying and keep up the good work GS!
Imagine being that NPC at 14:10, just casually driving to your NPC job when a hornet crashes in front of you 😆
Precision on those 2 F-18 splashes. Sawed off the wing, so hard to control when you got them in the hub, you really gotta pick a plane and hoping the aircraft is in that line
15's can fly with 1 wing ;)
this outcome makes sense as the F-15 is designed to be a pure air superiority fighter and has greater thrust to weight ratio. F-18s are more multirole - both are dangerous machines.
I watch all the videos til the end of gameplay, I sometimes bail when it gets to the tactical debrief. Great Channel btw!
Still here... Love this type of content! Thank you so much for all the videos!
Stuck around for all the fights, haven’t seen the F-15 va F-18 BFM dogfight yet, so I watched it all!
Hung around for all four fights. I really enjoy your channel.
I love the 4- and 5-round fights. Never get bored.
Watched it all, as usual. You have the best A/A videos. We’ll done!
Of course we watch the videos all the way thru. Great content as always!
I always stick to the end for all of your video, keep up the good work!
"Honey, you won't believe what I saw on the drive home." 14:10
The F-15 just slamming the rudders to one side to slot in behind, so good
