Agro first appeared on WOMBAT in the mid 80s. He was popular and got his own show, Agros Cartoon connection. He had a weekday show with characters like Crikey the Clown, Rommel the Dog and others. He started fairly clean but went pretty damn dirty towards the end! Anne Marie left around half way through the shows run but in real life she isn't ditzy. This was her "act" . She definitely knew how to enhance a skit big time.
Fun fact: I once had a seizure infront of her in the late 90s at the opening of a Timezone arcade in Brisbane city when they had her and Agro there as special guests (he did a pre-recorded video). Apparently she freaked out but was quite concerned and checked up about me later on. Quite sweet of her :)

I'm going to try and recall all of this as best as I can (44 yo male from Brisbane)...
The show was called Agro's Cartoon Connection, was filmed in Brisbane in the '90s, and aired on weekday mornings. The show came about because in the 80s there was a show called Seven's Super Saturday Show (or something like that) and Agro was on that show. It had a weekly live audience that was free to attend. I went once... it was cool. Made it on TV too... I digress.
Also on this show was Boris the Black Knight. He had the morning cartoon show slot in the 80s, called Boris' Breakfast Club (again, I think that's right, scratchy memory).
I found out recently that these shows only aired in Brisbane, so many Aussies may not know any of this. In hindsight, I think it's obvious what the network execs were thinking... Agro was a rude little shit... and kids LOVED him for it!
So, that was that... the Saturday show ended, Boris got the flick, and Agro got the weekday morning gig, and went national in the process.
Jamie Dunn (Agro's hand) is a funny bastard.

The secret to succes in Australia is humour. Check out "Red Faces" from the late 70s from a show called " Hey Hey It's Saturday" .
Red was a rock musician who took on a nasty personality but the acts are incredibly funny. All sorts of Australians , and others, doing stupid acts. Hilarious. We wouldn't go out until we'd had our Saturday night laugh. Now that's where you'll see Australian self deprecating humour. Cheers Mate!

I grew up watching Agro in the 80's in Queensland and it was on in the mornings before school and on weekends it was the show you were watching - saturday morning cartoons - I think it was all on channel 7 if memory serves. I absolutely loved it and it was hilarious

Brilliant. We did have Kids TV in the UK of similar humour back un the seventies and eighties. Take a look at 'Tiswas'. The more well known stuff on the BBC was always a bit more gentle.

As a kid i never got the humour of aggro but man did it have some good cartoons; he-man, thundercats, M.A.S.K, Captain Planet, GI joe...pure quality
