This song takes me back to the care free days of a kid growing up in the 70's.
So right. Very rich, distinctive sound. Love it. Timeless.

I agree 100%.

Love this song one of the first I can remember ever hearing on the radio. I was but a wee lad at the time. On another note, I need to get me one of those turntables. The wax is back.
This Song kicks ass....! I lived in Georgia from 2008-2012...not Atlanta, but Valdosta.

Their loss, YOUR gain.....never be hesitant to fire up great classics like this.
Dope! Music was so simple back in the days
I agree; I was born 1977 and I wish I can be a teenager in the 70s .lol
I was a teenager in the 70s, quite good, wish I could go back!
Bo Wagner's magnificent marimba solo (2:22-2:54) is not only a highlight of this song, it's one of the greatest instrument solos of *any* song in the history of pop music!
totally agree
Another good marimba sound comes at about 3:30 of Elton John's "Grow Some Funk Of Your Own" by Ray Cooper....
Thanks 888!
bo wagner rip
Even if I was on the Pacific not the Atlantic I remember cranking this to full volume in1976 on my dads boat with some pretty cool friends.
One of my absolute favorites from the 70's. Grew up in KC but born in Macon, Ga. now in Los Angeles.
Love it! Born 1961......................................
I had forgotten all about this song until I heard it in that movie "Stuck on you" with Matt Damon and Greg Kinear. When I hear it, its summer-1976 all over again, good times. Excellent song!!!!
I've been looking this song for 30 m
From Georgia to Maryland
Haha I remember sitting on front porch listening to this song when I was a little girl. Love it. My parents dancing in the front yard.
Thanks, there's just something about the 70's music--As a kid i use to listen to KFWB-Al Jarvis and his make believe ball room with Betty White. Gosh what a long time ago playing on the beach and all
some songs just remind you when you were young !!
and away we go back to the great 70's cruising around in the 73 Mercury! Great song and memories here! Thanks for sharing with us......
I always enjoy the intros, MusicMike, providing the listener with some good info about the artists, the songs, the time period and the sound quality is superb. This song is a time machine back to 1976. We can only stay for a few moments but what memories!
Gotta love that album cover...lot of artists used art deco-style in the 70's.
..fantastic..l remember that days..
i love the marimba solo come to think of it this is the only song in my memory that has one :)
Turned 20 in 1972. Vietnam ended by Pres. Ford in 1975. And the party began. 2nd best decade of my life.
It took me forever to get used to this song, bcause I was more into "Afternoon Delight", but i did learn to love this one also!!
I love the subtle laugh of the vocalist at the end of each verse.
Big hit here in nyc area..great song one of my favorites of the time
Brings me back to summer on cape cod 1976! Great song
How I miss those nights on the Chesapeake with this playing while out crabbing.
awesome Brother ........ !
I remember I was a real little kid in the 70's when this song was all over the radio one summer -- my dad was driving us from New Jersey to Florida on vacation, and this song kept coming on the radio. And we went over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, which made this song even more fitting. I had no idea who Starbuck was then, I actually thought Lee Majors was singing it because I thought it sounded like his voice, lol.
Great song. Great memories.
The only song this Maryland lady can think of that mentions the Chesapeake Bay. Remember this at the age of 6 being a huge hit on the radio. I was too young to get the part about make the tide rise again. Hmmmmm
Counting Crows mention it too...
Actually its about a lake in the Georgia/Alabama area. Just changed it to the Chesapeake cause it fits.
love this song, got the album on vinyl, bought many years ago.......nice deck, reminds me of my old dual.
Great tune to put you in a better mood.
Great hit song from 1976. LOVE it!
Moonlight Feels Right in Argentina too. Una Joya de los 70s. Delikatessen.

An early, comfortably chilly, and rainy afternoon in a cottage out on Block Island, RI.

Aaahhh, Compo Beach, Westport Ct. back in the summer of 1976, along with "Afternoon Delight".....great memories!
This had #1 written all over it!#3, wtf? I remember this like it was yesterday. Our school played it at the last school dance in June 1976, and it was played the entire Summer on AM radio.Talk about your one hit wonder for Starbuck.
+Victor Mirabelli One of the greatest one-hit wonders ever. "A class of [19]7-4 gold ring..."
my 9th grade graduation dance also!
Certainly a good tune for the summertime.
@@MIKECNW Yes, summertime while driving at night with the convertible top down!
Victor Mirabelli only problem was as GREAT as this hit was, it had to go up against a juggernaut #1 smash-“Silly Love Songs” by McCartney & Wings!
total feel good song

I still got the LP and its in good shape.

I like Music Mikes taste in music. One of my all time favorites. 12 yrs old sitting on the front steps thinking about a girl I liked in school who lived just up the street and this song comes on a great station in 76'. Ah, the good old days.
I, absolutely, agree with your sentiment, regarding this fine song, MusicMike. It's a special song for me, as it was the first tune I played, when I got to major-market radio! Thanks, for spinning this tasty platter!
OMG, I think I love Mike. Great voice.
Thank you once again Music Mike. Taking me away from modern times.

"Another Sensational Seventies Summer Sound" 💜💜💜
Awesome song I also like Dancing in the Moonlight they go together perfectly. :)
One of my earliest memories was looking thru a viewmaster at cartoon strips and this song was playing on the family stereo. Could've been anywhere from 76-78.
Thanks for posting Mike!
Interesting cover art...they sure loved 1920s/30s-style art back then.
Moonlight does feel right

Ohhhhhhhhh my God the memories.....the memories. What a great tune. The 70's had the absolute BEST music ever. People saying the 80's had the best music are f'ing nuts. When the shit from the 80s started coming out I listened to nothing but cassettes pretty much all the time. 70s RULE!!!
Well I am not trying to be rude seriously I'm not but the hair metal and the rap is part of what I'm talking about that I hated LOL. To each their own right? : )
