    Good God, I was working the 11 to 7 shift at the Clark gas station at 16. Lied about my age but the old man was chief of police! All whent well. What an introduction to life. Best job ever.

    wish I could roll the clock back to the seventies class of 77 and was my best years I was a music major and that era of music was the best. what we have today isn't music just noise called music.

    I was a Jr in high school Fayetteville, Ga,in 1976 we raised the money & had our Jr/Sr prom @ the Egyptian Ballroom atop the Fox Theater in Atlanta, Ga. greatest prom ever!! Many great memories of 1976 Jr / Sr prom Starbuck rocked the place..!!!

    i also love this song..people think of the 70s as disco but really there was alot more to it than that...I love this song..its wonderfully crafted in everyway...its care free yet interesting...its one of my fav 70s song..

    Love this song one of the first I can remember ever hearing on the radio. I was but a wee lad at the time. On another note, I need to get me one of those turntables. The wax is back.

    Bo Wagner's magnificent marimba solo (2:22-2:54) is not only a highlight of this song, it's one of the greatest instrument solos of *any* song in the history of pop music!

    I had forgotten all about this song until I heard it in that movie "Stuck on you" with Matt Damon and Greg Kinear. When I hear it, its summer-1976 all over again, good times. Excellent song!!!!

    I always enjoy the intros, MusicMike, providing the listener with some good info about the artists, the songs, the time period and the sound quality is superb. This song is a time machine back to 1976. We can only stay for a few moments but what memories!

    I remember I was a real little kid in the 70's when this song was all over the radio one summer -- my dad was driving us from New Jersey to Florida on vacation, and this song kept coming on the radio. And we went over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, which made this song even more fitting. I had no idea who Starbuck was then, I actually thought Lee Majors was singing it because I thought it sounded like his voice, lol.

    The only song this Maryland lady can think of that mentions the Chesapeake Bay. Remember this at the age of 6 being a huge hit on the radio. I was too young to get the part about make the tide rise again. Hmmmmm

      Actually its about a lake in the Georgia/Alabama area. Just changed it to the Chesapeake cause it fits.

    This had #1 written all over it!#3, wtf? I remember this like it was yesterday. Our school played it at the last school dance in June 1976, and it was played the entire Summer on AM radio.Talk about your one hit wonder for Starbuck.

    I like Music Mikes taste in music. One of my all time favorites. 12 yrs old sitting on the front steps thinking about a girl I liked in school who lived just up the street and this song comes on a great station in 76'. Ah, the good old days.

    One of my earliest memories was looking thru a viewmaster at cartoon strips and this song was playing on the family stereo. Could've been anywhere from 76-78.

    Ohhhhhhhhh my God the memories.....the memories. What a great tune. The 70's had the absolute BEST music ever. People saying the 80's had the best music are f'ing nuts. When the shit from the 80s started coming out I listened to nothing but cassettes pretty much all the time. 70s RULE!!!
