Our choir founder and musical director wanted to put games and choral music together, so she started this group three years ago. The lyrics were written by Daniel Jimenez, arranger and assistant director~
I feel bad for Zero. A being of absolute power, never able to understand happiness, only knowing pain and misery. Perhaps in death, Zero can know happiness. Rest in peace, Kirby's one true Nightmare.
When I noticed that lyrics were added to the closing bars of the song, I was worried that they'd cheese up the beauty of the prior minutes. But that didn't happen. This is nothing short of flawless - especially said lyrics. "And now I shall return the world to zero. To nothing. 'Cause if I cannot feel joy, no one ever will." Blown away.
He is the embodiment of tragic, made of negative emotions, can't feel any kind of joy, not even evil or sadistic, doomed to corrupt and spread despair EVERYWHERE.
MegaAntMan1 Zero Two didn't start out in Kirby 64, it actually first appeared in Kirby's Dream Land 3, as Zero. In that game, it is presumed that Zero just wanted friends, and tried to make "friends" by possessing them with Dark Matter, but Zero didn't understand that was bad or harmful, so Zero's presumably an innocent being that just made a mistake (but dangerous nonetheless). Kirby kills Zero, because he has to. (Zero fought back only to try to save its own life, not understanding why Kirby was attacking it. The player at the controller probably wouldn't realize this and think Zero is just attacking cause it's the "bad guy".) That is why in Kirby 64, Zero Two has wings like an Angel, because it was dead already. In my opinion, Zero Two has Angel wings and a Halo, as opposed to something like Demon wings, because Zero (in Dream Land 3) initially meant no harm, and desired good. Now Zero Two feels like it must be alone forever, and that it doesn't belong in this world. This makes Zero Two feel many things, all stemming from loneliness, and is why Zero Two uses Dark Matter again, this time with more malicious intent. As this song says, Zero Two decides if it can't be happy, no one can. So after Zero Two's resurrection as an Angel, it becomes a Fallen Angel after becoming bitter towards the world. The band-aid on top of Zero Two's head is where Kirby landed the first fatal blow back in Dream Land 3. (Zero's eye splits out of itself, spewing blood all over the screen.)
Mostly right, Yes Zero and dark matter were jealous of Kirby's friends, and yes that band-aid is where Kirby struck the fatal blow, but it in no way MENT WELL, it knew all about the chaos misery and hate it was spreading, it knew it was corrupting everything, and did all of it because that was it's purpose, zero is literally made of NEGATIVE emotions, CREAMER from it, can't feel any positive Emotions AT ALL, not even evil sadistic joy, maybe it did want friends, but it was in no way TRYING TO MAKE THEM, it only wanted them to feel it's pain, DESPAIR, Apathetically turning them all into Zero. But they forgot about the super Star warrior, Kirby Who is made of positivity, The EMPATHY to the Apathy.
@@trackmastertheman7801 i think the reason i posted that 9 years ago is because if you were born with unmatched power, on a completely different axis to every other being in the universe, it would probably be very hard to develop a normal understanding of responsibility, or healthy boundaries of other living beings. imagine how different you would be if you were a floating giant eyeball, and you (presumably) didn't know the origins of your birth or why you exist. it would probably make you do terrible things, because you wouldn't fully comprehend how destructive you were being, with no baseline to compare your actions to. also the whole kirby is good because he's born good and zero is evil because zero's born evil is kind of a boring plotline, not saying it's wrong, but it's just "the chosen one" story over and over again, so not much room for character growth. the angel wings still strike me as an odd choice if that's what they were going for. thanks for the response though, i'd forgotten all about this.
2:06 And I'll suffer endlessly, this is why I have to be alone, In darkness, you denied my happiness, and I shall return the world to zero, to nothing, cause if i cannot feel joy, no one ever will
After playing Kirby 64 Zero became my favorite Kirby villain. It was Hyness for a long time because I love how he isn’t much of a villain but a good person twisted by the potential power he could gain from summoning void termina. But Zero has just been there for so long, and always haunts Kirby games in some way to this day. He really is Kirby’s one true nightmare (Thankyou guy in the comments of this video I stole this quote from.)
Zero. Child if Sorrow and Darkness. It couldn't remember what "love" is. An outcast. It didn't like being alone. It didn't know how to LOVE. How to feel anything but despair. It was jealous of Kirby. Why did this pink circle have more friends then it? It wanted to be Kirby's friend to. But how? Zero tried the only way he knew. It had made the Dark Matters already. A failed attempt at friends. Zero used these Dark Matters to possess people. But these possessed people were not happy either. What little sense the had told them to stay away from Zero. Zero didn't like this. It angered Zero. But Kirby had so many friends! Maybe Kirby would accept it! But Zero was angered when Kirby denied it. Kirby was simply afraid that he would get possessed! Zero was angry. It attacked. Kirby had to stop Zero! Kirby didn't want to. He knew Zero was misunderstood. He regretted denying Zero's friendship request. But Zero was threatening the universe. So Kirby fought with the very thing Zero couldn't understand; Love. But Kirby killed Zero. Kirby didn't mean to! But Zero's soul was dark and restless. It was more or less stuck in pergatory. Zero still wanted friendship. But it now hated Kirby. Zero used it's sorrow and everyone else's to reincarnate into Zero Squared. 02 for short. It knew a huge source of happiness- a crystal on a planet named Ripple Star. It sent it's Dark Matters after it. It wasn't in 02's plans for that pesky faire Ribbon to take the crystal. But 02 commanded three if the Dark Matters to go after her. No more Mr. Nice Zero. The three scouts attacked- they may not of killed her, but they broke the Crystal of Joy. 02 was fine with this. If he isn't happy, no one is! Though is plan may of been to use the Crustal to make Itself happy, this would work. It didn't know that Ribbon crashed into Kirby. Kirby agreed to help Ribbon find the rest of the Shards of the Crystal. 02 was angry. Kirby had made it this way! Kirby found the Shards. And 02 revealed itself. 02 wanted to destroy the UNIVERSE. But Kirby defeated it. Maybe for the better? It's whole life, Zero was in misery. But Zero's spirit STILL lives on- in us. In some more than others. Each living thing has a piece of Zero. Each person has a piece. Even Kirby. The perfect balance made a true crusader of Light. Kirby had that. But now we all have Zero inside is. Know that it knows how you feel when you are down. We all have Light in us-resembling Kirby. Kirby is there to help you through rough times as well. Kirby is the angel. Zero is also the angel- of darkness. And We support Kirby's legacy, as Kirby is still living. And we carry on Zero's Legacy. "And I'll suffer endlessly. This is why I have to be alone in darkness. You denied my happiness! this literally made me cry, I love this song so much, even the origional made the listener FEEL what zero felt, and what Kirby felt all at the same time, shear determination and overwhelming... weight, the base being fast with the lead slow and powerful, so unlike the other tracks for kirby, but just as strong, if not stronger, and with the coir? tears, sniffly nose... I'd say I'm speechless, but that's obviously a lie
This... I... There really aren't any words to express how beautiful this is. Crystal Shards was that game during my childhood that I played so many times over that I can still remember every single secret and nuance to the game. Feeling forlorn and abandoned, knowing that you're only but a parasite to the world -existing without any true meaning -but to suffer -to be nothing. Knowing that where ever you turn, death is always bound to follow you, because you are empty, you are Zero... You will never be happy, for as long as you live...
Quirky, decades-old Nintendo games and their music hit hearts this hard, Ladies and Gentleman. It has been an absolute pleasure and I cannot commend efforts like this enough.

I dunno, Gooey seemed to have mysteriously disappeared after Dreamland 3, where the original 0 was fought. Oddly enough, last we saw anything that looked like Gooey was when you first see 0^2 at the end of 64 when it dons that fake face, that which heavily resembles Gooey's face. I've always been of the assumption that 0's soul, after being killed in Dreamland 3, took possession of Gooey's body and thus formed 0^2. This would add to the already epic final showdown with Dark Matter.
This is still my favorite of the VGMC songs on RUclips. Even though I frigging love Gerudo Valley, this is still so much more amazing. I can't even listen to the original without turning it off and coming back to this instead.
So... have I not commented on this video until now...? Anyway... even many years later. This is one of the best Zero-Two covers I've ever heard. I remember mashing this up with an old orchestrated remix of the song many years ago.... It aged poorly. But, at the time, I thought I synched it well enough. It's actually too bad there isn't a studio quality version of this song. I'd gladly buy it if there was a version like that. But... yeah. This is super nostalgic to me now. Time sure does fly fast, huh?
The symbol of Zero Two is that of a fallen angel. One that rebelled, tried to take what it wanted by force, and ended up in a deeper region that it had ever anticipated. Now, it knows only how to hurt others and force its will upon theirs. I wish we knew more about Zero's origins, being the originator of the dark matter with a goal to reduce all joy and happiness to Zero. A fallen angel cannot bring anyone down lower than it already is.
My rendition of the end would go as follows: "Now I'll suffer endlessly, fated but to dissipate alone here in darkness, you've denied my happiness and now I shall return this world to ZERO, to NOTHING for if I cannot feel joy no one ever will"
This is probably my favorite Boss Theme of all time. When I was a kid, I played so much Kirby. (He was my dude) Then this fight started in Kirby64 and totally caught me off guard.
If Zero was to return, there will not be a 03 just. Zero Two SOUL because Dark Nebula is technically Zero Three, Hinse the name Dark Zero in japan. Guys, would you prefer Zero 3 or Zero Two SOUL?
"Void Termina" is pretty much perfect. "Void" implies even less than Zero - where Zero is a number representing nothing Void is the *absence* of a number - while Termina establishes the finality of this form.
this is the most amazing think i ever heard in my life!!! no, seriously, those words, those lyrics at the end, I can not think of a better way to describe the thoughts that come to my mind when I fight against zero two. Is the perfect description for zero two in majestic melodies! awesome! I can not think on right words to describe this magnificent masterpiece, hear it made me feel mix of feelings, specially the final part. almost cry -w-

And I'll suffer endlessly this is why i have to be alone in darkness you denied my hapiness and now i shall return the world to zero to nothing cause if i cannot feel joy then no one ever will. AMAZING!
"And I'll suffer *endlessly* This is why I have to be *ALONE* In *darkness* ..... *You denied my happiness* And now I shall return the world to *ZERO* .... To *NOTHING* 'Cause if I cannot feel joy.... *no one ever will* ."
is ... is beautiful, is indescribable. Just started the choir, I felt that was going to cry. long life to Zero Two, best Boss, best story, best theme EVER! Sorry, bad english
2:06 A lot of people forget, that zero isn't just anger hate and jealousy, he's also sorrow, despair, and depression, he was born with negative emotions, and thus all he knows how to feel, he was created by the void to cause chaos destroy and corrupt, he didn't want to do it but since it denied him happiness, it's all he knew what to do...
If it is alright, I would love to borrow this variation of this song for my next video-project with your guy's permission. I nearly died crying from how powerful this was... It's an absolutely beautiful and ground-defying piece.
+Grey-Spark true plus zerotwo has great theme giygas theme is ok but you can expect that type of stuff out of a Earthbound game ... but seeing something like zerotwo in a Kirby game is surprising especially back in 64 days...but as years progressed sakurai. has proven to people that Kirby games aren't always cute and innocent kid games he really showed out on Kirby return to dreamland. with magolar and magolar soul
PΩkemon TrΔiner RΣD Sakurai wasn't the Director for Crystal Shards or Return to Dreamland so you are giving credit to the wrong guy. also, your Earthbound statement makes no snese since there are only 3 games with only 1 being released in America so how would it be expected? Giygas is almost universally considered the first "out of no where disturbing final boss in a child friendly game"
"I don't want to be alone. But I don't have to be alone. If everyone suffers with me, I won't be the only one!"
I find it very fascinating that lyrical O2 is a extremely common theme with video game remixes, and 10 years on I’m still I’m here for it!

Gets the logic of dark matter very well, beings of negative emotions, can't feel any joy genuine or sadistic, doomed to spread despair and CORRUPTION.
The power of Music: transforming apparently genocidal demonic angels into tragic figures every day.
He is the embodiment of tragic, made of negative emotions, can't feel any kind of joy, not even evil or sadistic, doomed to corrupt and spread despair EVERYWHERE.
Yup. That is a cover for a music heard from a "kid" game. Awesome.
Not to mention its the music that plays when you fight a bleeding eyeball.

this is the most amazing think i ever heard in my life!!! no, seriously, those words, those lyrics at the end, I can not think of a better way to describe the thoughts that come to my mind when I fight against zero two. Is the perfect description for zero two in majestic melodies! awesome! I can not think on right words to describe this magnificent masterpiece, hear it made me feel mix of feelings, specially the final part. almost cry -w-
This is the most amazing thing i have heard for a while, excelent work my friend
as soon as i heard lyrics i wanted to bow down to the VERY well written lines, very deep.
I can't even handle this...it's so amazing
Those lyrics are beautiful, the true meaning of why Zero Two exists, a very dark tone for the cute, pink, puffball Kirby!
It's....it's just so AWESOME.....
Beautifully eerie.
Amazing re-rendition of 0²'s theme. Definitely dark-toned for a game with a cute, pink hero, but still amazing as ever. :)
Those lyrics at the end though... I can really relate to this...
Honestly, so can I...
The lyrics are genius, I can feel sympathetic to 0² after I broke with my ex...
HOLY COW THAT WAS AWESOME
Getting chills be the lyrics! Impressive!
Hands down fantastic.
Omg. . . . Just. . . . OMG!!! So amazing!!!!
Literally gave me goosebumps.
really like the lyrics at the end. They really sum up what 02's motivation was. Now I feel really sorry for him...
wow, way too awesome !
@mikewill9511 We have about 6-8 person per part, depending on the semester. As we are all in school, our ages range from about 18-24; our director is 22 years old. Thanks for your comment~
those lyrics at the end...i almost cried...
I fell sorry for Zero.
This was okay at first.
And then I heard the lyrics.
The feels, man.
Wow...just WOW. The lyrics perfectly fit Zero 2. Bravo.
Good work loved it.
So gorgeous. I would love to join this choir
I'm getting goosebumps.
Good goosebumps.
this is amazing
The lyrics won me over. If only there were more for the rest of the song! :D
awesome it sounds pretty sad and really beutifull
And I'll suffer endlessly
this is why i have to be
alone in darkness
you denied my hapiness
and now i shall return the world
to zero
to nothing
cause if i cannot feel joy
then no one ever will.
AMAZING!
Love this!
"If I can't be happy, no pne deserves to be!"
-Dr. Zalost
The first time I saw that episode, Kirby Villains were the first thing that came to mind.
then try muriels happy plums!
That was awsome
"And I'll suffer *endlessly*
This is why I have to be *ALONE*
In *darkness* .....
*You denied my happiness*
And now I shall return the world to
*ZERO* ....
To *NOTHING*
'Cause if I cannot feel joy....
*no one ever will* ."
is ... is beautiful, is indescribable. Just started the choir, I felt that was going to cry.
long life to Zero Two, best Boss, best story, best theme EVER!
Sorry, bad english
Also nice idea on with those lyrics :>
I never heard the translation to this song till now....incredibly fitting.
2:06
A lot of people forget, that zero isn't just anger hate and jealousy, he's also sorrow, despair, and depression, he was born with negative emotions, and thus all he knows how to feel, he was created by the void to cause chaos destroy and corrupt, he didn't want to do it but since it denied him happiness, it's all he knew what to do...
Holy crap I love this. Zero/Zero Two are one of my favorite characters in the Kirby series.
along with Marx.
If it is alright, I would love to borrow this variation of this song for my next video-project with your guy's permission.
I nearly died crying from how powerful this was... It's an absolutely beautiful and ground-defying piece.
EPIC!
damn I remember fighting zero two back in the day.... that motherfucker gave me nightmares... I kinda wish zero two was a boss in smash bros brawl
+PΩkemon TrΔiner RΣD
Sakurai only worked till Air Ride... :/
I liked for the lyrics at the end.
Rest in piece space matter
