Complexity and Understanding in International Relations
Stanley McChrystal is a retired four-star general of the US Army. McChrystal led all the NATO forces deployed in Afghanistan before resigning in the wake of an article in Rolling Stone, in which he and aides mocked civilian leaders including Joe Bide, US Vice President. Whilst the top commander in Afghanistan, McChrystal submitted a report asking for more troops with the assertion that "we are going to win", and puiblicly suggested that tens of thousands more soldiers were needed. Before this, McChrystal also served in Iraq where he commanded the forces who captured Saddam Hussein. He is reported to run seven to eight miles each day, eat only one daily meal, and sleep for just four hours per night.
