Hi Mike, yes they are, I am looking forward to getting the bike made and making some chambers, I remember the sound and of course some bean oil to smell makes for a great day. Thanks for following the channel.
You have my attention on this one Dale! I had the RD200 twin when I was 17. It was a ten or eleven year old bike then but it went very well. Most of my friends were on 125 single cylinders so I had a quick bike. By the sound of it when you turned it over, I think this one will run. The Bonneville record bike sounds like a great project. Best wishes, Dean.
Ok Dean, I will send you some pictures of up coming Yamaha twins. Yes I had friends that had the twin bikes, they aways out ran us on the roads, but not in the trees. Still like them though, the sound is just the best. Add bean oil, and you make the best cake.
I am super excited for this one! I'm currently rebuilding my banshee engine. That is basically the rd 350. Haha after your video explaining oil injection vs mix. I took a closer look to see how the bearings were oiled on it. I was joking about drilling the holes in my case. They are already drilled. Great videos! Thanks.
I see a lot of videos on the banshee, must be popular these days. 4 wheeler right? Seems like wave runner has something simlar also. I know the rd350 was a beast in its time. I also have a RD250 engine I will probably do something with someday. Thanks for hanging out with me in the shop Matt.
Yes I like these you are right they respond well to tuning, I really think if I build this bike I will ditch the points and put a modern cdi on it. Seems the best way to go. Just cost lots of dollars.
@@montana2strokeracer well Dale 125cc speed record in 2018 was 146.77 MPH, think if i can find a P-38 drop tank and a 42 tooth counter shaft and 15 tooth rear sprocket your in business,LOL call me when your ready i can be your push boy. only 450 miles from me and 677 from great falls.
Engine looks in good condition (on the outside anyway). I'm not sure its the best choice for speed though maybe 80-90mph on a race bike where you can fit different sprockets etc. ( and nowhere near that fast in stock form) But I've never tried! Mine really likes the airbox to carb. intake peice seems to make the jetting more consistent even if you put indivdual unipod filters on the end instead of the airbox.
Hi there, this is just a fun project for me and this is the engine that I have. Im trying to use stuff I have and not go out and buy the best engine for that purpose. At my age I will probably never get to Bonneville (have been there but not to compete) , but the fun for me is the fabrication and sharing the project. My thought was not to go after the overall 125 record, but instead a sub class for fabricated frame and modified engine running gas, Not streamliner. In this case the record now stands at just a little over 92 mph average with both runs. I think this engine may be capable of this, depending more on my weight and wind velocity. May have to go on a diet. I do appreciate your input on the airbox, there are so many small details that can make a big difference for sure. I really enjoy the inputs from everyone and the conversation that goes along with the build of something like this. I am no pro at anything I do, just having fun in my retirement and can see that there are a lot of folks that may not want to take on some of the stuff I do, but enjoy the process and the brainstorming that goes into a project like this. At the end of the day, Im just trying to get folks to enjoy this hobby as much as I do, and not take life so serious. When Im not working in the shop on videos, I watch a lot of other youtubers doing the same type of stuff. I get ideas and see their techniques and most of the time they have a better way of doing things than I do. Again its just for the fun of it. Keeping the mind sharp. Hey thanks for the comment and thank you for following the channel.
Hi, I am not sure what you are looking for, but I have found Ebay to be pretty good. Most of those parts come from Thailand or Indonesia areas. I have found the shipping to the US is pretty fast. Would say you most likely will get them faster. I buy a lot of machine tool equipment from your country. Thanks for spending time with me in the shop.
Well you got spark that’s good. Can’t wait to hear it running. Thanks for sharing brother.
If it runs you will hear it for sure....no mufflers, will be suprised if I can hear after that.
What a cool little engine! They sound fantastic with chambers on them.....BRAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPP!!!!!

Nice learning curve dale 👌
Thanks Larry, learning is my middle name. Lets try this on that...never gets old...on these old bikes.

Another project? Way to go!!! Look forward to sharing the journey.
Heck Jim...I got more projects than you can shake a stick at. I just like messing with these old bikes, what can I say.
