1 : I do in fact carry a slip joint 2: I carry it for the utility of having a knife (obviously) but also because it has just such a rich history and a little more classy feeling/looking 3: only knife I usually need when carried !
I carry a slip joint due to the laws here in the UK. It's cheap and cheerful, has 2 blades... One of which I use for boxes, packaging, etc and then the other for food... Mainly slicing apples. I've had it for years and it's with me every day. All the best my friend. 👍🏻
Yes, I carry a slip joint. I carry a Victorinox Rambler. The knife blade is there as a back up emergency blade (if have one you have none), but I use it primarily for the standard and philips screwdrivers, scissors, nail file, and tweezers. Plus it is really small and doesn't add a lot of weight or room. My EDC main knife will be a Civivi Elementum, which should be here tomorrow (replacing my Chris Reeves Sebenza 31 small).
"Slipjoint" would have to be the SAK, which mostly gets used for the toothpick, to be honest, but it could also serve as a 'secondary' blade, since there's almost always a 'primary' one on me as well.
The first knife I ever owned was a gift from my father and was a slip joint long before I was truly into EDC. Over the years my father has given me almost all the pieces to a whole carry so I'm thinking of compiling a personal EDC of just gear from my Pop which so far consists of : money clip, slip joint, watch (several rotating because I was a watch kids long before anything else), and a necklace of the family crest.
1. Yes I carry a slip joint (victorinox compact or explorer either in my sling bag or a suspension clip) 2. Use it mostly for it's tool 3. Depending on where I'm going it could be a main or secondary blade.
I do carry a slip joint as a secondary. It’s a Case Peanut and I use it for slicing apples, cutting my sandwich in half from time to time and the odd cutting job. Carried it for years.
I like any format you do as long as you have links to products you talk about in the video. Love looking at the watches and knives. Plus I love seeing what everyone cares. It is all different but fits that persons needs.
i watched one of your past videos where it was either the 50 or 100 dollar budget edcs and you recommended the husk wallet... absolutely amazing, never would’ve thought to get one and it’s amazing.
I don’t own a slip joint yet but the knife I use for food prep is my Opinel #8. It cuts through things like a laser. I’ve used it from cutting peppers in the house to ribs and steak from the grill.
I carry a slip joint every day as a secondary blade. Either one from my great uncle or a Barlow from my great grandfather. I use my slipjoint for more precision tasks, such as cutting leather or opening boxes with the smaller blade on my Barlow so I don't damage whatever is in the package.
I do carry a slippy, it’s a Case Barlow in deep canyon jigged bone. I only carry it to church, weddings or “formal” events when a pocket clip wouldn’t really fit in. The last thing I used it for was to cut some chocolate pie. Usually it’s opening snacks for my toddler, packages or mail.
I do carry a slip joint. I keep a SAK Rambler on my key fob as a secondary knife. I use the knife occasionally when I forget a knife or in shorts that can’t accommodate a full knife. Also the Phillips head screwdriver helps with tightening up glasses
I carry my GEC Oilfield Jack every now and then. It is my main carry when I have it on me because I really don’t need a secondary, I use it for whatever I need. Mainly opening packages, some food prep and little crafty projects.
I EDC a slipjoint everywhere except the shop where I need a tough folder. I use it for packages, food prep, anything. I prefer it for EDC because slowing down to open the knife gives me time to appreciate it more, plus it’s a gentleman’s knife that will never get negative looks in public.
I’m just getting into EDC. I only have 1 knife that was gifted to me, a Civivi. I’ve been looking at Opinels mostly for work. I’m just an English teacher. I would not use it for food prep.
I carry a slip joint everyday. It’s a James Brand County and I love it. It is a secondary knife to my Microtech Ultratech but that’s not something I use when opening mail or boxes, doing food prep or cutting loose threads off clothes. I have a small lanyard on it with a copper bead so it sits nicely in my pocket and doesn’t flop around and twist.
I am very grateful for your channel! Glad I found you. My EDC set is strange at best as I tend to carry most of my cheaper gear because their respective form-factor makes sense for EDC. Love seeing all the EDC gear out there.
Great video! Thanks so much, I carry a Tree Brand Boker Barlow, have carried this for years and I do everything with it. Cut food, to carving wood! Love it.
I carry 2 different slip joints every day in a hitch and timber card caddy xl. One is the Benchmade proper with a sheepsfoot blade and the other is an Otter-Messer anchor knife also with a sheepsfoot blade. Both of my slip joints are sharpened to a mirror edge and are used for food and cigars, I rarely carry a cigar cutter for random trips and just use my clean slip joint to cut the cap, I don't like using the dull garbage knives that restaurants use so I also use mine for food.
I carry an old timer slip joint. It reminds me of an old knife of my great grandfather. Carried as primary everyday for a couple of years while working in the shipyard. It eventually became a secondary because I finally got my BM 940.
I do carry a slip joint about 50% of the time always the GEC bullnose. It is usually the secondary knife to something like Benchmade superfreek. The slipjoint just doesn't scare the people I work with. I carry the slip joint either in my back pocket or cargo pocket depending on pants. It also has a extra long lanyard on it to easily pull it out of my pocket. By the way it is not dedicated to food prep, but it is an awesome food prep knife. (It gets cleaned up often due to it being 1095 so I feel the best about using it).
Yes I carry a slip joint, it's for when I'm whittling/carving wood on the fly. Being in the UK it's only got three small blade's but I've worked the nice and sharp.
I do carry a slipjoint (victorinox recruit) for its variety of functions. Its primary use is opening boxes & bottle opener also the flathead comes in handy. I need to find a way to carry in my pocket as it tends to stab my leg while I'm walking.
I carry a multitude of slip joints daily. I use Alox Cadets as backups (multiple colors), but I also have a bunch of slips that I carry as my primary- Proper with copper flytanium scales, lionsteel dom (blue titanium bolster and brown micarta), lionsteel thrill in red, carbon fiber Real Steel Luna, twosun with titanium and copper scales (can’t remember the model number). As much as I like the feel of a smooth flipper, there is nothing like the tactile sensation of the walk and talk of a slip joint.
Hi Taylor, I mostly carry a Victorinox. In the summer I carry a light Bantam Alox and the rest of the year a Pioneer X. I combine it with a Classic Alox on my key chain.
I’ve been carrying a slip joint as a primary knife during the week for a few months. I think slipjoints encourage you to be more mindful using the knife - you can’t just one-hand-kapow them out of your pocket, and taking the time to open them reminds my brain I’ve got something sharp in hand. I usually carry in a pocket slip from Popov with an elastic loop for my space pen. On weekends I’ll switch it up and carry one of my Spydies. I don’t usually use my carry knife for food prep, but now I guess I gotta start that because of this channel :). I don’t have a GEC because I have no patience and I’m picky about the pattern I want, but I just got my second Lionsteel today. Can’t recommend them enough, they’re just gorgeous little pieces of functional art.
I know I’m late but... (1) Yes, i frequently carry slip joints, (2) I use it for every EDC task from food prep, to open packages, etc. and (3) it’s a mix. On (3), sometimes I pair a one with a modern folder or fixed blade and reserved the slip joint for more delicate / sanitary task. I also frequently carry a slip joint only and then like a multi bladed knife with one blade for package opening, etc. and another for sanitary tasks, food prep, etc.
Yes I carry a slip joint in my fifth pocket normally as a secondary blade to my main folder. Sometimes it's easier to get out and use on more delicate tasks...
I don’t know if it qualifies as a slip-joint but I’m from the UK so I can’t really carry a folder without a good reason so my primary blade is a Victorinox Pioneer X which I use for EVERYTHING from food prep to opening boxes, bar work and tightening loose screws. I would be lost without it
I carry a slipjoint loose in my pocket, because I love seeing it get scratched up and patina'd. As for a secondary blade, I just use the other blade on the knife, a little pen blade, to open packages as the fat spearpoint primary is better for food prep.
1. Always have a slipjoint living in the UK, 2. Either a spyderco Urban in my 5th pocket or a hinderer slippy 3. They're my primary for all edc stuff. Cheers 🍻
When I do carry a slip joint it’s usually my benchmade propper and it’s my primary edc blade. As a college student I don’t want to be too flashy with a big folding knife or even something with a pocket clip drawing unwanted attention, so having something deep in my pocket that is completely hidden and out of the way is a piece of mind.
1. Yes I do, nice and small 2. Mostly use it in places and situations not very knife friendly. Great for cutting loose threads or anything in a public space 3. Secondary unless I’m traveling somewhere you don’t wanna get caught with a locking blade.
I carry a slipjoint almost everyday, usually a benchmade proper or lionsteel bestman. It’s always my secondary knife thats is carried in my proper slip. I typically use it for any cutting that is not hard use. Opening envelopes, packages etc...haven’t used them for food prep yet. Most days my slipjoint is all I need.
My Dad carries a benchmade proper which I gifted him as a present a few years back and he has customised with a tanto shaped blade. He uses it as a primary due to the strict knife laws in the UK but also because it’s unique. I carry a victorinox spartan as a backup knife which I can hand to coworkers and friends without making them feel unsafe.
I do carry a slip joint every day. Typically I use it as a "nail picker". Mostly I catty my grandfather's old knife (I got it when he passed away). He sharpened it so much I guess all I can say is that it is a "custom" blade shape! 😁
Slipjoint / FoodPrep - I carry the Benchmade Proper with Micarta Scales, mainly because I love the rustic appearance plus being UK legal. Also Growing up as a kid I spent a lot of time with my granddad. We’d have days at the lake fishing. I always remember watching him eat an apple with his knife. To this day I’ve always done the same.
I carry a Victorinox Huntsman with 3D printed purple scales as a secondary knife. Sometimes I just want a small, razor sharp blade for various tasks. I also frequently used the scissors, toothpick and tweezers.
Living in the UK I carry a lot of slip joints because that’s what’s legal. There are many amazing options that have a pocket clip and some have finger choils that keep the blade from closing on your fingers. Now for slip joints without pocket clips there are leather slips with clip or magnets that you can use that make it just as simple to carry as a knife with a pocket clip. Check out the clipslip or the lastest magnet sheath that MKM sells.
I do not carry a slip joint currently. With working so much all I carry is a utility knife. I do have some old Case slip joints I would carry and prep food and everything with.
I carry my Benchmade Proper more than any other knife! I carry it on its own a lot and use it for almost any cutting task, but mostly package opening, cutting parachord, fishing line and loose clothing threads. I carry it in a leather pocket organizer with my streamlight microstream.
I rotate and when I'm in the office I carry only a slip joint as it does not raise eyebrows when I use it. I switch between the lion steel roundhead with ram horn scales, victorinox farmer with alox scales, a g Russell pro scout or my laguiole. All work great when needed and don't cause a fuss around non-knife people.
I do carry a slip joint, it is a real steel luna went CF scales, n690, and a deep carry pocket clip. got it for a song during a BHQ flash sale. what I use it for varies from day to day, Sundays and going out it is a good knife that won't scare many people, but other days it is a secondary knife for cutting up fruit during my lunch break.
I carry a case folding hunter in CV steel which is a fairly large slip joint knife coming in at about 10 1/4 inch knife when open and it is the only knife I carry. Because it is long and slim it fits nice beside my phone and dose not move much. I mainly use it for cutting hay string and net rap as well as for zip ties and a little food prep.
The only slip joint I regularly carry I don’t even know if I would call a slip joint… it’s my Vitorinox Huntsman and I use whenever I’m working on a project around the house. The scissors are super handy and the saw blade is useful every once in a while. It’s always a backup knife though I rotate through a few knives my favorite being the Paramilitary 2 Tanto.
I carry a victorinox super tinker (slip joint) as a secondary. Usually it sits behind my bugout or my elementum, and occasionally the tenacious. Soon it will be carried alongside the pm2 though. I do not use my super tinker as a knife very much though, and I have gotten more use out of the Phillips head and bottle opener than anything else
I'm sure my response is going to one of many butttttt, in my family it's considered almost tradition to carry pocket knives, my uncle is probably the one who started this as whenever I didn't have my knife on me he used to heckle on why I didn't saying something akin to "if you don't have you're knife on you, you'll be sorry when you'll actually need it". I'm currently carrying the Buck 55, same exact model as my dad and although I don't edc it, it's my go to knife for classier occasions.
I occasionally carry slipjoints. The only slipjoints I own are SAKs and they are mainly back up knives, unless I want to only carry something that's inconspicuous.
1. Yes, I used to have a buck but I just started carrying the MKM Lucas Burnley Cellina in titanium. 2. The leather magnetic sheath is super clutch for work and everyday tasks or bareback it's a sexy gentleman folder. I used it today to make some quick dress repairs to my wife's hula group outfits at their performance. I didn't get any big eyeball looks either when I whipped it out so that was a plus.
I have a slip joint in my pocket every work day. A casexx I got when I visited the factory. Rarely actually used, but it’s my secondary knife I use for my “clean” cutting.
Yes I carry a slipjoint a sodbuster that I hand out is someone needs to barrow a blade. My main blade is either the Civivi Astricus, or the Kubey Raven.
I use a Spyderco Squeak. I use it because I live in the UK and it's legal but also because I dont use a knife a lot. It is only for tasks like sharpening kids pencils, opening packages and the smaller form factor and inoffensive style makes the squeak perfect.
great video man! Btw yup i do carry a slip (Fox knives Libar m390 blade in green micarta). I usually use it for normal task use stuff like opening packages and cutting up cardboard. I usually carry it as a 2nd knife and will have a main knife that I use for fidgeting and tasks that would be safer with a locking knife. Currently I have a Tuya envy 2 as my main and the fox libar as my backup today.
1. Yes, I carry a slip joint. A buck stockman 2 Its the only knife I carry, unless I'm hunting 3. Everything, breaking down box's, opening fertilizer bags, I have cut seat belts with it (paramedic). Yesterday I had to cut baling twine off of about 100 tomato plants. I used to lose pocket clip knives, but not the slip joint. Also, i can't imagine not having the 3 different blade shapes available.
Yeah I carry a slipjoint, because of knifelaws in my country, I use it for some foodprep for my kid when we're out and about. Sometimes, but rarely for other tasks such as boxes or peeling cables. It's my mainblade, but I have a small leatherman Style CS as well
Hello there Taylor. Im from germany and due to local knive-laws carrying a slipjoint is one of the most sensible options. You are allowed to carry fixed blades on you but folks around here are not used to people pulling out knives in public so having a secondary slipjoint for tasks that dont require a fixed blade or locking folder, might be a good idea. I do allways carry a crkt minimalist for tougher tasks but those are rare for me. All that beeing said, i do hate slipjoints compared to any other option.
i carry a copper victorinox deluxe tinkerer as a secondary. not sure if it counts because it’s a folding tool box but it’s amazing, especially the pliers and scissors. it seems like my friends end up needing it more than i.
No slip joint as of yet, been looking at them but I do find myself using one of my folders for food prep all the time! Most cause I always forget to pack a knife with lunch lol
1. No I don’t carry a slip joint
2. I can’t because I don’t have a slip joint
3. No, because I don’t have a slip joint
Thanks Taylor! Lol

I haven't watch this channel in a few months. I'm glad to see it's still going strong.
I like the fact that you mix up the format. I think doing the EDC weekly differently every now and then is a good thing.
I carry a slip joint due to the laws here in the UK. It's cheap and cheerful, has 2 blades... One of which I use for boxes, packaging, etc and then the other for food... Mainly slicing apples. I've had it for years and it's with me every day. All the best my friend. 👍🏻

Hey just started to get into EDC you’ve been so helpful thanks so much man. Keep up the great videos!
I carry a slip joint every day. It’s a custom-made skinning knife for work and it’s the only knife I carry.
I carried a slip joint as a secondary knife, I had a Benchmade proper with micarta scales that i acid etched the blade and heat treated the screws.
Thanks dude. For the pocket organizer
I carry my GEC Oilfield Jack every now and then. It is my main carry when I have it on me because I really don’t need a secondary, I use it for whatever I need. Mainly opening packages, some food prep and little crafty projects.

I love the new “old” format again. Dig all the videos. Keep up the good work!
The nearest thing to a slip joint I carry as secondary is a leatherman juice. I've been shopping some victornox, though...
I carry 2 different slip joints every day in a hitch and timber card caddy xl. I definitely carry a slipjoint. Sometimes two. I use ‘em for anything you’d use a locking folder for.
I used to carry a fancier locking "tactical" knife. Lost it, so I went with a stockman, exactly like grandpa used to carry. I'll never go back.
I do carry a slip joint about 50% of the time always the GEC bullnose. It is usually the secondary knife to something like Benchmade superfreek. The slipjoint just doesn't scare the people I work with.

The only time I carry my slip joint is when I'm fishing really useful on the boat and secondary blade other is a socp I always carry
I do not carry a slip joint but do carry a skeletool and a bugout. Skeletool for work bugout for food prep.
I use a slip joint as a primary for packages and envelope opening. It gets the job done.
When I do carry a slip joint it’s usually my benchmade propper and it’s my primary edc blade. I do not carry a slip joint yet...but I carry a trekker with a firefly fire steel replacing the toothpick and its a secondary to a buck 110
I carry a Case Sodbuster Jr. (Red). It’s a secondary carry for when I need a blade that won’t make people nervous.
FRIDAY EDC WEEKLY! Thanks for the content dude!
I do carry a slip joint knife. It's a secondary knife I use it for small task opening mail and packages.
1) I very rarely carry a slip joint
2) use it for general tasks around the house such as opening packages
3) yes, it’s usually a secondary knife
I carry a SAK Cadet sometimes. More of my gent carry when I don't want to carry my heavy PM2 with copper scales. I just pop it in my pocket loose
I do carry a slip joint. I use it to cut fruit and other small items while on brakes at work.
Great video !! I miss this format . Very good stuff this time . Congrat Eli Fisher !! Thanks for the video . Take care Taylor !!
I have several Case knives and use them when I go out. Also have a Boker one with a leather sheath. Use them for everything when I carry them.
I carry a Swiss Army Knife with me - right now it is a Compact. Really enjoy having a blade and the scissors.
I occasionally carry slipjoints. The only slipjoints I own are SAKs and they are mainly back up knives, unless I want to only carry something that's inconspicuous.
I carry a slip joint primarily for my food prep. I enjoy the patina on my GECs
You should do a Slipjoint EDC weekly special for all the traditional knives folks
I carry a
Victorinox super tinker - it is a secondary carry to a Benchmade bugout - mostly for dirty jobs and as a beater knife.
I have a slip joint in my pocket every work day. A casexx I got when I visited the factory. Rarely actually used, but it’s my secondary knife I use for my “clean” cutting.
I carry an old timer knife. Not all the time but it’s generally what I bring with me while backpacking or camping. It’s a great knife for widdling
I Cary a victornox cadet and it is my primary knife and I use it for everything from unboxing stuff to food preparation.
1. Yes, I carry a slip joint. A buck stockman
2 Its the only knife I carry, unless I'm hunting
I carry a gnat and love it. Great for the everyday opening of boxes or whatever. Also a great conversation piece because of the design.
Case carhartt trapper knife is my secondary blade and used for food prep
Slip joint aka my SAK tinker deluxe. Used as a secondary blade to the bugout
i carry a copper victorinox deluxe tinkerer as a secondary. not sure if it counts because it’s a folding tool box but it’s amazing, especially the pliers and scissors. it seems like my friends end up needing it more than i.
No slip joint as of yet, been looking at them but I do find myself using one of my folders for food prep all the time! Most cause I always forget to pack a knife with lunch lol
