That clock looks quite appealing! Although those asian clocks might be cheaply made, they still have some beauty in the case (or movement). My Korean wall clock shares the same movement with this one. Very nice addition! :)

Nice clock. The asians know how to decorate these clocks for a cheap price as well hehe..

"got this clock for 40 dollars"
that's when i realize how difficult it's to be a mechanical clock enthusiastic in a 3rd world country where the cheapest wall clock is arround $200

I mean, even in a 1st world country you have to pay a lot to get a very good quality mechanical clock. But I've heard similar stories to yours and while I can't say that I personally relate, I understand the frustration of things being out of the budget. :(
In the United States, it's not uncommon to have to pay over $100 for a good German made clock, or an American made one at that. This clock is nothing compared to the quality of an American or German manufacturer. Korean clocks look nice, but they're not the most mechanically solid clocks you can buy, which is why it was so cheap.
In Europe, or at least in Germany, mechanical German clocks are so commonplace that they're sold for even less than the Korean one in this video, if you know where to look. I've seen collectors get early 1900s mechanical clocks for $30 that I would have to pay at least $200 to get in the United States.

@@DannysClocksHoly Canolly that's a valuable piece of information right here.
Maybe one day I'll be able to hunt for some clocks in Europe and add them to my collection, but for now i have to either create my own pendulum clocks with a cheap electric pendulum and chime quartz movement or find a good price out there for a used clock.
Thank you so much for your comment Danny, it really made my day :)))
(FunFact: We share the same name haha)

This clock sounds exactly like my Korean Freischwinger, which also has a passing half hour strike and the snail also rotates with the hour hand, so your clock more than likely has the exact same movement and gong as mine, except that the pendulum on mine may be a little longer.

Yeah! I remember your Freischwinger. The movement in yours may be an earlier example of this particular manufacturer. I've seen this movement also stamped Centurion. I feel like a Korean clock factory mass produced these movements as commissions from companies in other, Western countries.

    What year is this clock?

      I would estimate roughly 1970s-1980s.
