    I'm learning Korean now because my Brother fell in love with a Korean Woman and we want to surprise her! They've been together for 4 years now and not once has she asked him to learn. She accepted him for who he is which is so beautiful and respectful of her and he wants to make her happy. As a family, we all respect her too and absolutely love her as she became one of us. This is our way of loving her back and we are all learning how to read and speak the language.

    I think Korean matches way more with Spanish than English. It helps to pronounce things more. Thank you so much for all of the hard work you put into these videos!

    • @joshi5507
      @joshi5507 8 лет назад +5

      +Raven Abby Belle We have similar sounds. Our u is pronounced almost identical to their 우. and their 어 and 오 is like our "o"
      It definitely helps knowing Spanish but really... knowing any other language helps because you'll be accustomed to diversely precise accents and pronounciations. I'm Puerto rican (natively speak spanish) and I agree wih her. It does make it easier.

    • @KarolinaLopez
      @KarolinaLopez 8 лет назад +2

      +Raven Abby Belle Woah, really? I'm shocked. I'm from Venezuela, but raised in the US so I speak English better. But between English and Spanish, I feel like Spanish has more similarities. 아 sounds like A in spanish. 오 like O in Spanish. 우 like U in spanish. 안녕 has that ñ lile in spanish. 이 is more like that actual I in spanish then E in english. Just stuff like that. American pronouncing seems harder, but not impossible.

    • @KarolinaLopez
      @KarolinaLopez 8 лет назад

      Raven Abby Belle Well it's still pretty cool that we are all on the same boat trying to learn Korean. Which ever language works best for us, either way, as long as we learn Korean haha

    • @KarolinaLopez
      @KarolinaLopez 8 лет назад

      Raven Abby Belle What's the name of the app? Maybe it would help me too. I just ordered some workbooks from TalkToMeInKorean.

    • @joshi5507
      @joshi5507 8 лет назад

      +Raven Abby Belle memrise is a good vocab builder. I use it too. I suggest Eggbun. It's an app on android (don't know about iOS) but it teaches you 한글, gives you culture notes (when to bow, when to grab things with both hands etc), and you can chat with a bot in Korean to see how good it is. I really like it. TengoGu Hangul is basically a book in an app but It really goes into detail and it's my kind of app. It tells you the rules exactly and everything. That is what I primarily use. There also this app called mondly. It's like duolingo. It isn't as polished, but it's sort of like duolingo and it works well for daily korean exercises. =)

    if you're windows 7,go to control panel,clock language and region,region and language,and go to the keyboard and languages tab and choose to change keyboard.add a keyboard,and go to korean,choosing to add korean and microsoft IME,click okay, then apply and okay.hotkey to change languages is shift + alt.the pain in the neck is that each consonant and vowel is marked in a pretty strange location, so you'll need to memorize where the keys are. google imaging a picture with the layout should help

    Btw even if my ears figure out the differences in the pronunciation. It's harder to make my mouth do exact thing. I think a lot about how Korean ppl know this.

    I found the easiest way to distinguish between the sounds of 오 and 어 was to think of the word 조산 (Joseon). It has both vowels fairly close together and is the first thing that comes to my mind when i think of those sounds. Look up how it's pronounced if you're struggling, it really helps!
