It's a little hokey but I love the clarification about Jamie and Zoe's memories. They will NOT forget what happened after all. They did before, but they won't again. Fans have been mourning that bitter ending ever since 1969, and it's finally been resolved.
My headcanon is that the Time Lords didn’t have the technology to *literally* wipe memories but to suppress them, which they considered so reliable they thought it was as good as memories being wiped. Turns out the process of memory suppression wasn’t as reliable as they thought!
Really strange hearing Frazer's Scottish accent at this age, so used to his normal accent from other more recent work, which by the way if you have time to watch classic who a second time, watch them with the commentaries, the insights and stories they recall are brilliant. Nice to also give Deborah Watling (Victoria) a shout out.
It's great to see you mark the 60th anniversary. I only really discovered your channel a couple of months ago but have been binge watching all your Doctor Who reactions, having already caught up. It's been quite a journey seeing how much you attached you have gotten to the show, even if it took a few seasons for you to really start getting into it. I hope you continue to love Doctor Who (and get tearful with every regeneration and companion departure) for years to come.
Happy 60th birthday Doctor Who! You've been on such a journey with this show. I had grandparents who had Alzheimers it's such a horrible way to see loved ones go. Hope you're doing ok❤
My mum went from being a bit confused and not able to play Scrabble in March to now being in a care home, with a diagnosis of mixed dementia. Some days she's very aggressive, sometimes passive and sleepy, other times terrified. You have to roll with the punches. And you never escape the guilt. In some ways, when I go back to episodes of this show from my own childhood, it is both therapy and a lament. But time moves on, as it must.
This is the one I was waiting for, knowing how much you love Jamie. :) Didn't expect the joy at the mention of the Quarks! I got a bit teary-eyed myself at the mention of Victoria.
I wish he Jamie mentioned Ben and Polly too. Michael also died and Ben and Polly are over lookdd but loved seeing these. I hope we get another with Polly and Jamie
Thank you for not editing that outro, sometimes we need a moment too. Happy Thanksgiving and happy 60th anniversary, I've been watching Doctor Who since the 80s and I'm just so happy you ever chose to react to it.
sorry to hear about your grandfather. my mom suffered from dementia for 7 years before she passed. i get it. one of the worst diseases out there. made me cry when you talked about. keep up the great reactions. maybe next time watch it last for the day.
It's funny how this one hit me. Like in a way I didn't expect. Like first time watching I just kept thinking how Patrick Troughton would have just been so proud to be a part of this and how he became the model for a lot of modern era Doctor Who actors. But then just now with the talk of Alzheimer's had me thinking about my grandfather who passed in 2017 from dementia and another cord was struck. Like now I hope that he remembers his family, his life, his accomplishments like Jamie retained his. Anyway... great installment. Has me thinking. Has me crying. LOL
Thank you, dear Sesska, for sharing your reaction, and your own heartfelt experience xx Without scrawling through every comment below, I don't know if this has been mentioned...but if you liked the Second Doctor, and if it hasn't been mentioned already, may I please recommend the 1984 BBC adaptation of The Box of Delights, wherein Patrick Troughton plays another unusual, wonderful, magical traveller through time.
I ran across this "Tales of the Tardis" the other day. I immediately knew I had to show it to my wife, as she had a soft spot for Jamie and Zoe. I was a bit sneaky about it, and didn't tell her what it was and had it cued up to start with without her seeing the title. This way, she got a nice surprising "reveal".
Glad to see you're enjoying the episodes. I used to support someone with Dementia and heard numerous stories about their life before it took grip. My Gran developed Alzheimers but died before it took grip
My grandad(R.I.P) had, they called it vascular dementia. I always got hit hard with stories with memory loss like this as I have my own issues with memory loss/retention but since finding out he had it and seeing how it effected him, they seem to hit harder, especially when I realise that is the theme of a story.
Although I have no lived-in nostalgia for this period (which ended, after all, three years before I was even conceived), there's something so comforting about the Troughton Era that I often feel I must have been there. Especially when it's these two cheekies. 'The Mind Robber' is an interesting choice, though. Despite being a time of the show that straddled psychedelia (so to speak), there's really not much else in the canon during those years that plugs into that kind of trip. There's plenty about the dangers of technology unregulated (still topical) and politics and monsters that practice uniformity, man, but this is the only one to go with myths and stories and fairytales.
Sadly it had to be Jamie and Zoe. Michael Craze (Ben Jackson), Anneke Wills (Polly Nolastname), and Vicky (Deborah Watling), have all psased away. Realistically, the only other option would have been to bring in John Levene, who met the Second Doctor and Jamie during The Invasion, as then Corporal Benton of the newly formed UNIT. Jamie has to be there though, given he is the longest serving companion in the whole show, having first appeared in Troughton's second story and staying on for the whole run, apparently at the request of Troughton.
@@TheTrainfan44 Thank you for the correction. I'll just slink off now, despairing my pitiable research skills. I actually took a moment to check my fact before posting the comment, and could have sworn I saw a reference to her having passed away.
Make sure you watch Earthshock after the 5th doctor regenerated, Vengeance on Varos after the 6th doctor regenerated and The Curse of Fenric after the 7th doctor regenerated to avoid spoilers but it would be fitting to watch these last 3 after you finished watching classic who.
Please don’t apologise. I cared for my Mum who had Dementia. I would not put her into care, and know first hand what a horrible thing memory loss is. Take a few minutes for yourself, but don’t apologise to us, we understand.
I loved when Jamie said he would have never left the Doctor and i believe that. He would have been with him forever no matter the form he took
Something Frazier himself said about Patrick
2 & Jamie are one of the GOAT tardis teams
It's a little hokey but I love the clarification about Jamie and Zoe's memories.
They will NOT forget what happened after all. They did before, but they won't again. Fans have been mourning that bitter ending ever since 1969, and it's finally been resolved.
They remembered the story they met the doctor atleast
Right, the Time-Lord did say that they would remember there first adventure with the Doctor but that's all.@@Joey15811
My headcanon is that the Time Lords didn’t have the technology to *literally* wipe memories but to suppress them, which they considered so reliable they thought it was as good as memories being wiped.
Turns out the process of memory suppression wasn’t as reliable as they thought!
This one hit me too. It is sad but happy too.
Jamie finally gets to remember his best friend.

Nice to also give Deborah Watling (Victoria) a shout out.
My personal headcanon is that their memories were fully and permanently restored by this, even after they’ve left the TARDIS
A lovely Sesskasays Doctor Who reaction, a perfect way to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the great institution.

3:48 is hilarious as it implies *Zoe is too busy to bother dying!*
And if anyone could pull that off, it would be Zoe.
@@lostwizard I mean, you're *not* wrong.

Jamie. The character that inspired Outlander.
I hope so much, RTD brings back president Zoe in a future episode
So glad jamie remembering things again and so his concern for Victoria 😢
It was always a worry that Jamie might have been killed in battle when he returned. Well, he wasn't killed. :)
RIP Deborah Watling. (VICTORIA)
It had to be Jamie! This was an especially touching one!
Happy 60th anniversary fellow Whovians. 💙💙
Happy 60th!! I've said this before and I'll say this any time, you're my favorite Dr. Who reactor, on YT or anywhere else! Happy Thanksgiving!

It's amazing to think that Frazer Hines has been acting on screen for nearly 70 years.
Jamie is my all time favorite companion! The new second doctor adventures with Hines and Michael Troughton are amazing.
This is my second favourite one of them all and when I saw it I was so excited for this eventual reaction.
Once you finish Classic Who, I hope you go back & react to the 3 remaining Tales of the TARDIS ✨

God, hearing Jamie say "I miss him everyday of my life" while holding the recorder really hurts

These mini-sodes are turning you to mush, dear lady.

Happy Thanksgiving Jessica 🦃
Have a blessed weekend ☮️
Appreciate your sharing about your family work Jess. Sending you 💗

Forgetting and memory loss - aside from being things I now suffer from daily - are going to be the big themes tomorrow....
Beautiful reaction Jess. I'm sorry about your Grandad x
Would love to see in the new series the doctor meets Jamie again and up against the yeti in the Scottish Highlands
Happy Thanksgiving Jess 🦃🦃🦃🦃.
holy moly you got a license for those nails, they look incredible?

Are you not doing the rest of tales of the tardis 😢
Happy Thanksgiving Sesska 👍🦃🥧🍖
Alzheimer's is very personal for so many people. It always hits me hard too.
Honey, I'm so sorry about your grandfather. My brother is battling Brain Cancer right now. Love. Light.
Zoe on Dying: "I ain't got time for all tha'!"
Also- feel you on the Alzheimer's front.💜
The Three Doctors please!!!

To heck with my depression. I want to see your reaction to episode 10 of the War Games!👽
bbc at the beginning of last link
My favorite!
I bet that you could pull off that look. You ought to give it a try.
That fixed what was annoying me for decades
Hey sesskasays could i recommend you watching Sweet Home? It's a kdrama but dont let its name fool you its not very "Sweet"

Very curious how you're watching this lol...
God, that Scottish accent is horendous.
