Breaking news! Robots are breaking buildings! That's the news!
I love how you are literally controlling a giant robot with a remote controller. Now, imagine you're in the middle of battle and the batteries suddenly run out. Damnit Nanao, I told you recharging the controller was a matter of life and death!
My favorite giant robot show as a kid was Robotech. I didn't really know what anime was, but it was the coolest cartoon I'd ever seen. I went into a book store and saw that there were paperbacks of the same name, so I ended up reading the entire series. I still own all the books too, even the old tabletop RPG handbook!

@@gamelover2222 I would have never imagined there was a table top for robotech! I still gotta properly watch that. Was that the one that’s related to Macross?
But yes, the game honestly feels fun to control but it has its issues that it honestly wears with it a badge of honor for the sake of immersion. Sure they could have gave us a view from behind our mecha, or even a skyscraper view without us having to fly up, but it does feel more engaging and kinetic to control the robot that way because yes, it’s literally a remote controller XD. I don’t know a game that tries to replicate this still.

@@Coyoda Ok, lets talk Robotech! It's a miracle/nightmare that you should watch a documentary on, but I'll do my best to explain.
In Japan it's known as Macross (the name of the town/giant ship). When Harmony Gold licensed it for the West, they named it Robotech. They named it that because the transforming fighterplanes were based on units from Battletech (the basis for Mechwarrior games).
The animated series covers the Zentradi invasion and the intro to The Sentinels before getting canceled. The books cover everything from start to finish. There's like 5 series in total, so it a lot of material if you are into it.
If you haven't seen it, the movie Macross Plus isn't related to anything and is a classic must-watch, especially if you are in the mood to see an evil AI get taken down!

@@gamelover2222 Ahhhhh. I remember the first place I ever learned about it was a ps1 demo disc and I loved the transforming fighter plane. I know it made me come back to it later to then learn about Macross but since I sometimes am pre-occupied with other stuff, I never get to watch anime much.
That's pretty cool though. The most I ever knew about Macross beyond the plane > mecha is its openings being idol styled

@@Coyoda Yeah, the singing is a core part of the story. This is one of the series that started the pop idol craze in anime. In the story, the Zentradi are all clones and are raised as warriors. Men and women are kept apart and "weak" emotions are suppressed.
Eventually they send spies over to the Macross and the spies get "infected" with emotions. The thing that reaches them the most is singing. Spoiler alert: During the big final battles the humans broadcast a live concert on all channels and it causes the majority of the Zentradi to get confused and take heavy losses while giving the Macross time to get close to the main enemy battleship. Can you imagine hearing not just music for the first time, but the "best" music around?
The story is really good and things are planned way in advance. Something big takes place in the first few episodes of the show that is connected to the very last book at the end of the entire series and that's when I knew it was truly one of my top series of all time!

@@gamelover2222 Wow. I had no clue! Feels like there might be something to analyze there but it also comes off maybe inspired by brave new world possibly
I definitely wouldn't have expected a plot like that for sure.
