I love what you said about refusing to settle, and refusing to be with someone just to be with someone 👏 in my opinion, that is self love and I am here for it!
I love this too you do you find your happiness that’s what I am having to realize as a first year teacher I’ve had a moment of burn out but trying to find my reason why and as far as relationships I am single no children I’ve had my moments myself but I realize that it just may not be that time I gotta be with the right person.
My favorite videos from you are where you are real and also talking about life outside of teaching. Burnout is real. My personal time is so so valuable to me now that I force myself to turn off after i leave work!
@SmartieStylelr it takes time but with practice it gets easier. I keep seeing this pic on Instagram where it says something like so and so died, and they were cleaning their desk out and posting their job within an hour. To us, it's so much more. To "them" it's a business deal. Sad but true.
I feel that teaching is so performative that people can neglect to realize how very human teachers are. I congratulate you for feeding your need to step back from vlogging at work to sharing that you are more than a teacher. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Continue to feed all of your needs so that you are well and well rested! 🤗
Girl, you were spilling much ☕ but I am here for the transparency and vulnerability. 😅 Yes, I am learning that 'Yes' and 'No' are complete sentences. I am single and content but desire to be married only if he adds to my peace and joy. Tfs
Thank you for sharing while protecting yourself. Watching your vlogs for the past couple of years has provided a sense of normalcy & comfort knowing other professionals are trying to navigate❤
I totally get you on what you talked about in this vlog. Please be encouraged! You are handling everything much better than you may think. We are almost to the end of this year. And then we can recalibrate in the summer. You got this!
admin is going to feel really silly if they lose a good teacher when the easy solve was 2-3 release days. and the fact that you want the days to do aspects of your job…
PMDD wrecked my life until I got on birth control continuously. It was wrecking my relationships and at one point had a 13 hour crying fit. It is rough. Take care of yourself. Take what they won’t give you. No one will look out for you like you. ❤
Prayers for you! I’m a teacher too and I don’t understand why leaders feel that teachers shouldn’t have a life outside of school. I pray that you get some rest and rejuvenation.❤
I totally feel the protecting your peace. I have been rocking with you since I believe 2015 or so. You have put in some major work. In all this I don’t remember how old you are but I am 42 and over the foolishness. In this day of education there is a lot with appeasing the parents. I know equity is a big buzz word now but I think they are defining it a bit wrong. All stakeholders need to understand and own what this is. Not, we kiss up to folks in hopes that we can sort of go the way we would like to go.
Thank you for keeping it realistic. One day at a time and good for you for stopping, reflecting, acknowledging and now taking steps to get back to that place for you. Nobody has any right to guilt trip anyone, this is your one life. Thank you for bringing us you. Share what you want when you want when you are comfortable. Take care 😊
I had a similar burnout discussion with a team lead last year. She completely blew me off (because she was in the middle of getting a promotion, I learned later). I went to my supervisor who did help, but it took another two months of being in crisis before changes took effect. And this is an office job, not teaching. So many supervisors simply either dgaf or d ont understand that when people are coming to you they are indeed in crisis. Also girl... I hear you on mood shifting. I'm 42,and for the last 3 or 4 years I would get really depressed for like a week before my period. And I wasn't on bc. I'm honestly considering getting an IUD to stabilize both my periods and my moods. (periods were doubling up for a couple months)
If you can find a way to take a trip that is not related to education, then that might be helpful. It seems as if teachers are being asked to do more things now that the pandemic is over, but this will lead to more burn out at a quicker rate. Take care of yourself, and thank you for your honesty.
Glad to see you! Eyebrows look great! Burnout is real. I had to work on shifting my mindset. It’s a difficult task but I didn’t have the energy to start a “new” career. I’m in a better headspace. I pray you get through this season….🙏🏾
I know exactly how you feel. I went off birth control and started feeling the same and eventually had to get back on it to regulate my hormones. Definitely take care of your health first.
I truly appreciate the work and effort that teachers give to their students and to the community at large. It's an appreciation I've had ever since being a youngster! But also because my sister is an educator; which brings up the point of students following you. My sister uses aliases on all the social media platforms so that it's not so easy for the students to find her. I think she also blocks those students that try to follow her online. I get it! It's not just a privacy thing but a separation of work and life! When the summer break comes, I hope to see more vlogs of you tending to yourself, traveling and exploring new things!
I don't mind that my students find and follow me. I am just mindful of how much personal stuff I share not just because of them, but also because I feel it is important to have boundaries with my Internet friends too. :)
Well I’m glad you’re back but I definitely understand how life and teaching can be. Your honesty is appreciated. Take each day as it comes and embrace the little things.
I love your life updates! Tbh, I've been following you for YEARS and I'm not a teacher or in the education field at all 😅 The hormones are WILD, aren't they?? We're about the same age and I have had similar health issues and oh my lordy the way those hormones RAGE sometimes 😂
Yes! 2022 LaTawnya in Spain and all the other girlies were thriving and growing. Maybe we need an annual Spain trip? Time to loop Taina in on this one. 😊 I know you're referring to that season (and not just the trip). That season for me was also one of clarity and balance. Wow--it was also the year I decided it was my last year in the classroom. Just now making that connection honestly. The seasons have ebbs and flows--I'm not saying everything is always balanced now. I do think I am more balanced or can get back to balance a lot easier as a result of the nature of my work being more manageable. Trust if you do need to make that decision for yourself, there will be another door that opens right where you need it. And if not, you will still be able to move forward into a new season of joy and growth in the place you are in. Keeping you in my thoughts, and praying for peace, balance, and clarity for you.
We did the Color Run at our school....super fun but LOTS of extra work! You do so much extra already. Thank you for the honest updates! Always love your vlogs and the reality of teaching.
That is good to hear and I would imagine that it is a lot of work to handle which is why I just couldn't believe I had to ask so many times to get some release time to get things organized.
Hi ❤ I experienced perimenopause in my mid 40s (am 59 yo now), found out I had fibroids a few years later, got a partial hysterectomy and life is much better. The mood swings and feelings were real, husband and kids noticed the change in my personality. I did nor want to teach or be around middle school children. 😢 Life is so much better now! 😂❤ Take care of yourself, you are worth it!
Loved this vlog! You had to get a lot off your chest. I don't personally know you, but I see you, hear you, and want nothing but peace and love for you. You work hard. If retail therapy is what you need/want to do... go ahead and buy something cute. Don't settle. When the time is right, love will come into your life. You are a beautiful, intelligent, and phenomenal woman! Take care of you💐
Burnout 😂as teachers is so much a part of the job now…. Use to be in leadership and I gave up every last one of them a few years ago and I am so much happier now I put myself first and my wellbeing 🎉it’s ok I leave when the students leave no regrets 😊
Yeah, maybe try Evening Primrose and Vitamin E to help with those symptoms related to perimenopause. In reference to the teacher burnout, MANY of us have reached that point. Literally told God yesterday morning in the school parking lot, " What are we going to do next? I'm done with this!" Listen, I have had my passport for a year now. Where are we going with no teacher expectations? We all need a vacay!! Paris?
I'm sick of teaching too. The only part of teaching I'm interested in talking about rn is a talent show I'm running. everything else is literally BS going in one ear and out the other. I have also been raising my hand in every meeting and emailing everyone about extra timecards. I don't care anymore, I need to know if I can be paid for extra work
Ah yes, the “You are heard, you are seen, you are going to continue to be exploited because it makes my life easier” method of administration. My favorite 🏆
Make sure you give yourself some grace. Admin just doesn’t get it. They have never taught student post pandemic. This is a different level of educational experience. I over this school year.

Thank you for your transparency and vulnerability. This will resonate with so many! Here’s hoping for your continued healing and restoration ❤️🩹
Praying for you great woman! You’ve got this! Rooting for you in Texas.
Thanks for sharing and being open with us all.
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) is real! Take care of yourself, all of yourself.
Blessings and wellness 🤎

This summer will be very crucial for me in terms of recharging.
admin is going to feel really silly if they lose a good teacher when the easy solve was 2-3 release days. and the fact that you want the days to do aspects of your job…
It truly is crazy to me
PMDD wrecked my life until I got on birth control continuously. It was wrecking my relationships and at one point had a 13 hour crying fit. It is rough. Take care of yourself. Take what they won’t give you. No one will look out for you like you. ❤
We feel your burn out pain in Houston TX as well. I feel Adim forget what it's like to be in the classroom.
Prayers for you! I’m a teacher too and I don’t understand why leaders feel that teachers shouldn’t have a life outside of school. I pray that you get some rest and rejuvenation.❤
🎉🎉🎉 just celebrating you getting back to 2022 Latawnya . The district needs to give you time and let you decompress. 💜💜💜💜
Yes, keep refusing to settle ❤

They'd likely put you on a low-dose daily pill... IUDs have too much hormone
We really need people in leadership roles to remember to humanize the people that work for them.

I truly feel like many good teachers will be lost if some changes in the culture of education aren't made.
People only cared about teachers & school staff enough to get rid of the kids they created....

Loved this!! I hope you get answers with the doctor, keep us updated, if you want! Wishing you a very relaxing weekend!!
Keep going!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your content! Fellow teacher, year 2.

Burn out is no joke! Praying you’ll get “2022 La Tawnya in Spain” back🙌🏽

Glad you are feeling better. I have had moments where I feel like a crazy woman, so I am looking forward to getting things stablized.
Love the sweater where you get that from
From Express, but it's a few years old.
Your brows look great! And much empathy on the burnout - on the same journey and it is No Fun!

Any vacation that involves travel sounds amazing at this point.
I love the non teaching content. It’s what we do not who we are.

As you should. Good luck with your talent show!
Take charge and let admin know you are tired. You have to think of yourself.
I am definitely letting them know that this year.
Ah yes, the “You are heard, you are seen, you are going to continue to be exploited because it makes my life easier” method of administration. My favorite 🏆
They know you work HARD. They just don't want to open up work days to everyone (who definitely don't). It's sad.
I knew your principal wouldn't understand. They don't care. I don't know why when they become admin they forget how it is to be a teacher.
Make sure you give yourself some grace. Admin just doesn’t get it. They have never taught student post pandemic. This is a different level of educational experience. I over this school year.
I love your channel thank you for sharing
