Hey guys to clarify about the citadel, my comments are more at how small of an area you have to hit to citadel it, ontop of the belt armor. Meaning that you have to be very precise if you want hit it. However of course if you do, and get through the belt, you can citadel it with just about every BBs guns at T9
The Lepanto is surprisingly durable with that citadel. I tried to brawl one at the end of a match in my Soyuz and got slapped. We were in proxy spot range, he was nearly flat broadside (75 degrees based on my angle mod from modstation) , and I dumped 9 shells into his amidships. I got 9 pens and 0 citadels. Until that moment, I was unaware she had turtleback.
The point is to experiment with it, I understand the game is competitive but I feel its too competitive and thats not good. I like secondary builds because they are fun no matter the ship and people in game feel that if your having fun your not trying and I say fooe to that
Just look when he charged the Missouri and musashi it shows how terrible the secondaries are that close range and two huge ships to fire on 102 hits and 1000 damage and 1 fire don’t waste your captain points on it
That turtleback design looks interesting, particularly the 25 mm slope and steep angle. That means that it is designed to protect from cruiser shells, and thus even Petro will have hard time citadeling you despite her stupendous pen and improved pen angles. But BB shells of 380 mm and bigger will just ignore the slope, so the citadel is not invulnerable. Of all the battleships in her matchmaking, just Scharnhorst, Odin, Lyon (and maybe some others that I forgot) can't overmatch the slope. I like this kind of partial turtleback design, because I don't think we need new BB's that can just sail past other BB's broadside on without consequences, but having some protection against Petro in particular is nice. Edit: Also, now I got exited about theses ships, that looks fun.
I was honestly expecting the Lepanto to rock a four triple turret configuration instead of three quadruples, idk it would seem more realistic and more in line with something that would be built
Just watch out for AP from cruisers shooting high in the belt. With just the two front guns on the Buffalo I did 9000 damage. Then since the poor bugger had his guns pointing the other way I was doing over 10,000 per broadside into him. After 4 broadsides he finally figured out I was a little threat and started to turn and run.
@@therepublic21 For your information, 25 mm of armour can be overmatched by guns that have the caliber of 380mm and upwards, ‘overmatched’ meaning the game won’t even bother calculating the effective armour when shells hit.
I'm in the same boat/ship (no pun intended) King Samar. I have been playing this game for over 5 yrs and just cant bring myself to play it. I have reset all my captains and hopefully play it again sometime
I was playing Lexington and saw this ship in the enemy team. I asked my team if Lepanto had good AA, everyone was like 'AA doesn't exist, of course she has poor AA' (very annoying). But when I attacked her I was greeted by a LOT of flak-bubbles and, dodging most of them, lost almost my entire squadron.
27:13 That CLEARLY should have killed the DD. Only 10% Damage from SAP is just stupidly bad. I get that it's a critical topic, but SAP should absolutely do more than only 10%. 20%, maybe 15% would be fine. 10% for SAP is waaaaay to low.

People are always broadside, you just suck at taking advantage of it. P.S: the Biden comment kinda makes you look stupid as well.
I was using a vlad In a coop and there was Lepanto I did three broadsides to It hardly no damage very strong ship ,I think its worth getting when you can beat the hell out of my vlad bow tanking...
Mountbatten did you notice you had in some matches like almost 50% secondary hit ratio even without secondary build? Ive seen dmg was low because low pen on secondaries, but what if you put IFHE for them?
Looks like a midrange brawler, sort of like a mix between Giulio Cesare and Alsace, hopefully the guns aren't too disappointing, as an Italian i can't wait to get my hands on her
You dont see the stats? They are more then half a year on the dev blog. Actual all italian BB are a big fat joke, all have1. 6 sigma and long 33-38 sec reload and even on a T10 max km 19 range. Enjoy the balanced comrade!

The ship has horrible dispersion without deadeye and when you use sap without deadeye, shells land everywhere and most shatter due to not hitting the light armoured parts. As per armour she is pretty tanky and you can pull off some silly gamer turn with smoke and use the spotter plane while in smoke to get vision
Soooo your starting detectability is actually that good because of the camo you have on. In reality its .6 km above your guns firing range. I hope its a typo/bug/glitch and it gets lowered, because you absolutely feel it even running full concealment.
Probably would have made more sense if you had first put the free hull and gun modules before you started. Other than that, I agree it’s a fun ship to play. It’s different without being OP or UP. I would switch to spotter. Even with the marginal dispersion, with 12 guns you can do damage at range.
about the whole full damage thing full damage is 33% on a full pen, not 100% 100% is on a citadel so if the bb sap did 30% that'd basically be full damage honestly, i'd say 15% would be a good percentage
15mm of HE pen on those Secondaries. Even Destroyers are made out of 19mm plate. What was the fire chance on those things? Cause that's all they would be good for

For the 10 games i played with it i really don't like it ... I can't manage to find a sweet spot to use it (first days of course i m getting focused every match x) ), it EATS pens like a german BB and unfortunately, it does not fit in the current sniping -long range meta. It looks fun but would really benefit from an accuracy buff at least at short range, a bit like with the russian accuracy gimmick, it would make them devastating. 10 Km away i missed 2 full broadsides in a row on a Bismarck, i was kinda disappointed ... I 'll try to change a bit my gamemplay, to make it fit the ship a bit more, but it feels just like my GK, a fun ship but it gets stomped on by long range snipers (Yami, Thunderer ... )
I've been little luckier than you but still a lot of db... anyways imho this t9 is really consistent. SAPs hit like trucks and smoke allows very hard pushes. Moreover (if fulled ) secondaries are very strong.. comparable if not better than US and German. HAPPY 😊

Good lord wargaming is inept. Why tf are you building a ship that specializes in brawling that is absolutely garbage at brawling. It should be relatively fast with good secondaries and a low detection range. Then the incredibly long reload time and and crap dispersion are balanced out by the other strengths of the ship. And this AFTER they completely neutered brawling. What a horrible design.

1) This is a semi fictional ship. For example, Italians would have never put 12 381mm guns on a ship. The hull is heavily inspired by the UP41 project which has 9 406mm guns. 2) That armor is not called "icebreaker". This name comes from a bad habit of the players of the game that has remained by the years. Historically that armor is called actually "extended armor belt", which was used in varius degree by many navies on battleships. Real icebreakers aren't just a chunk of thick metal on the bow, they have their own shape for not only breaking the ice, but also spreading it in a way that it doesn't become an obstacle or a hazard for the ship. An extended armor belt surely could be useful to break shallow ice plates, but against thick ice it would probably be damaged, as that isn't its purpose. 3) Italian BBs where light by tonnage, but tonnage isn't armour by itself (in fact the biggest sacrifices the Littorio class had were the naval range and the ammo quantity per un), and the Littorio class had some very tough armour. To put into perspective, the Littorios had a similar stratified armour to the Iowa, which was a newer and more modern battleship.
You can't citadel it with a cruiser since it doesn't overmatch. Maybe moskva/alaska can cit it but stalingrad and petro will struggle since they have a shorter fuse
I have only seen 1 cc have anything to say nice about this line Its the reload and range. Anytime a Russian thing come out we always go wow thats to strong. Anything else its well that does not look good.

At the price of a 10 point commander of 1500 dubs, coal, free xp, flags, and camouflage it's no Christmas crates but a good deal. I was just going to buy 7 and got lucky. Didn't get the 10k tokens
Use AP against Minnesota it's her greatest weakness. SAP won't deal damage to her. I'm pretty sure you know about her rediculous torpedo protection that acts like spaced armor.
It is missing the Work in Progress watermark.... WG always nerfs the ships after they are released.... sorry, they rebalance them. In my experience it is not the final iteration if the Lepanto
Well, if you build in secs no, the Alsace has 100mm secondaries (smallest ones), so the basic pen is much better. Regarding main artillery, we all have to see how BB SAP finally works on angled ships
not with that reload and range, plus it loses HE and secondaries (and AA -- ITA navy gets screwed on this by WG for "national flavor"). What it loses, it gets the creeping smoke and that armor scheme so we'll see how it balances out in live combat.
This ship and line is shit. TLDR. Also, that "turtleback" is actually a joke as it's 25mm and gets overmatched by everything from 380mm and up. It being sloped does not matter as that's not how overmatch works in this game....

As far as the line goes, I’m getting the same vibe as I was with the Italian cruisers. The fun starts at T8 and the T10 is bonkers. The Lepanto itself is rather good, I have a 120K average in her right now.

The fighter plane can spot for you when you are in a smoke

When I get her I plan on running a secondary build to test on her. I also recomend the unique comander for her it helps with range

We were running survivability on our two last night. That was the best build we could find. Since between the guns midrange seemed to be best

the citadel slopes are overmatched easily by any bb caliber guns, so just the main belt, cuz it is 25mm so maybe he forgot that?
You can't citadel it with a cruiser since it doesn't overmatch. Maybe moskva/alaska can cit it but stalingrad and petro will struggle since they have a shorter fuse

Use AP against Minnesota it's her greatest weakness. SAP won't deal damage to her. I'm pretty sure you know about her rediculous torpedo protection that acts like spaced armor.

Well, if you build in secs no, the Alsace has 100mm secondaries (smallest ones), so the basic pen is much better. Regarding main artillery, we all have to see how BB SAP finally works on angled ships
not with that reload and range, plus it loses HE and secondaries (and AA -- ITA navy gets screwed on this by WG for "national flavor"). What it loses, it gets the creeping smoke and that armor scheme so we'll see how it balances out in live combat.

The turtleback will not be useful at all against battleships, as all battleship guns that this ship will face will overmatch the 25mm slope.

Also, that "turtleback" is actually a joke as it's 25mm and gets overmatched by everything from 380mm and up. It being sloped does not matter as that's not how overmatch works in this game....

As far as the line goes, I’m getting the same vibe as I was with the Italian cruisers. The fun starts at T8 and the T10 is bonkers. The Lepanto itself is rather good, I have a 120K average in her right now.
