    Playing Skyrim is like having a conversation with an old friend you haven't seen in years. You pick up right where you left off without missing a beat.

    in a way you've nailed it, a 12 y.o. CoD player who thinks actual RPG games are boring is exactly the kind of person who'd think that skyrim was/is a masterpiece

    Oblivion holds many of those same honors for me that Skyrim does for you. I remember playing Skyrim for the first time while at University and it was so much fun, but so was Oblivion for me in high school. And I just last month, after trying Morrowind 4 or so times over the last 10 years finally got it to click for me and I finished the main quest.

    What a great thank you video for Skyrim.
    I'm still playing it today: a completionist playthrough in where my character will try to do everything that is possible in one save file.
    I saw that literal trailer too, all the way back after Skyrim came out on the date one one one one one one.

    Joined the Empire on your first play through? On my first I completely ignored the main story and joined the StormCloaks. I wanted revenge for trying to cut off my head
    Once I got to my third I realised how complicated the whole thing was. I spent several hours understanding the lore before I made a decision

      @@BeardedBeerMan I was really into Star Wars so the “empire” being an empire was enough at the time 😅

    • @AshenBuncakes
      @AshenBuncakes 6 дней назад +2

      I joined the Empire specifically because of Wes Johnsons Imperial guards in Oblivion. I grew up with those guys. Later on I felt validated after learning about the two factions in Skyrim - I hardly ever play Nord, so stormcloaks would've been a bad choice anyway. It doesn't really matter I guess. I also love that Tullius is voiced by the guy who does Doc Mitchell from New Vegas.

    • @ДмитрийБотух

      I joined Stormcloaks because I played Morrowind before, knew a bit of the lore and banning Talos worship was a HUGE red flag for me.

    The GOAT. The best. "The One they fear." There's enough information on Skyrim's lore and mechanics on "The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages" that details official vanilla ins and outs, that it's clear the base game alone is only continually receiving mods because it is so good and great (because mods can't save a bad game).
    Whether Bethesda is good or bad now is irrelevant. Skyrim alone is making them so much money it's unreal, and the people in-the-know about how the game, engine, and, extraneously, mods work, are all content to be a part of the experience. Imagine hating freedom. Imagine disliking the ability to add anything others have created, or create anything you want, for your own game experience, and for others. People really do hold that kind of flawed logic close, and put it on a pedestal.
    Indeed, there isn't any game better than Skyrim. There are many alternate flavors and styles, but they all keep us coming back "home": To Skyrim. Bethesda struck gold. It's the world's best selling role-playing game, and Planet Earth's 8th best selling game of all time, and a game people continually have to make tired, flat and dry excuses as to how and why it could even remotely be considered as being depthless and subpar overall. It was clear. Once Bethesda had achieved the highest success of any RPG maker on Earth, lovers of far more convoluted and highly pretentious efforts 'had' to scramble to try their best to knock it down several pegs, lol. It's funny and sad to see.
    Skyrim isn't going to be widely thought of as a bad purchase for the forseeable future, no matter how many naysayers think its copius sales are "Ruining gaming and the world," lol. We reached peak RPG potential in gaming already with Skyrim. We're done. It's nice to see newer titles, but we're never going to get another game that's on this level again. There are too many factors of life going against such ever coming about again. Welcome to the best gaming's got on offer. Welcome, to Skyrim. 👑

    Skyrim has everything except the very thing that makes RPGs special: depth.
    I don't make the rules, I'm just pointing out a fact. An rpg always has at the very least one mechanic that is very complex and makes it shine. Dark Souls has complex combat and boss fights, the Witcher has a complex storytelling, BG3 has a complex quest system with consequences to the player's actions, etc....
    Skyrim has no complexity whatsoever. Gameplay couldn't be more simplistic, quests and story are generic and bland, decisions have no impact on the world... Not to mention how glitchy it is. The stealth for example is so bad that it makes you wonder if Bethesda even tested it.
    So yeah. It can be fun for sure, but an rpg this shallow simply can't be a masterpiece, because it isn't masterly done. It's carelessly and lazily done.

    • @Axzle_YT
      @Axzle_YT  5 дней назад

      @@JuanDiegoCorreaQuintero-ss1pd I can see your points. Other RPGs definitely have more strength in some aspects compared to Skyrim. That being said the game does have depth in one major way that kept me interested over all these years. The part of Skyrim with the most depth is… Skyrim. The province itself, and its connection and lore shared with the larger Elder Scrolls universe. Skyrim is one piece of the Tamriel puzzle.

    • @JuanDiegoCorreaQuintero-ss1pd
      @JuanDiegoCorreaQuintero-ss1pd 5 дней назад

      @@Axzle_YT come on man be honest with yourself. You think the map is fun because it's filled with dungeons to clear out, not because of its connection with the lore. But even the map has some very questionable design decisions, like the cities. Have you ever played an open world rpg where the cities are as unrealistic and poorly designed as in Skyrim? I sure as hell haven't. You're always running into the same people and listening to the same conversations over and over because of how small the cities are.
