Make Friday the Preparation Day-On Friday let the preparation for the Sabbath be completed. See that all the clothing is in readiness, and that all the cooking is done. Let the boots be blacked, and the baths be taken. It is possible to do this. If you make it a rule, you can do it. The Sabbath is not to be given to the repairing of garments, to the cooking of food, to pleasure seeking, or to any other worldly employment. Before the setting of the sun, let all secular work be laid aside, and all secular papers be put out of sight. Parents, explain your work and its purpose to your children, and let them share in your preparation to keep the Sabbath according to the commandment.

I am not a SDA but have started to listen to this marvelous teacher of the word of God only a month or two ago...that he preached the Word I have no doubt but what worries me is that Past. Skeete continously tries to have the bible be explained by the writings of EG White instead of the word of God (Bible) explaining itself. Will he be able to produce a sermon without having to rely so heavily on EG White's teachings ever? Make no mistake what those writings seem to be excellent but can the bible please explain itself or are there other inspired writings outside of the bible?

Hello Martha biwa, I don't think he is using EG white's to explain the bible, rather he makes reference in her writing showing her view on the subject which is in line with the bible. Her writing is not a replacement of the bible rather I can say they are inspired to guide you in understanding the bible clearly.
She herself (Ellen g white) refers to her writings as a lesser light and the bible a greater light many times. If you read any of her books such as patriot and prophets, prophets and kings, desire of ages(about the story of Jesus), step to Christ, etc. It is unequivocal that you will be highly impressed and moved to study your bible, because the books will immediately leads you to your bible. I suggest you read "The desire of ages" and see for yourself. Don't depend on the criticism made by others who don't know much about her writings, just try one book for yourself.
Below is what she won't in one of her article/book.
"Little heed is given to the Bible, and the Lord has given a lesser light to lead men and women to the greater light.
As an educating power the Bible is of more value than the writings of all the philosophers of all ages. CSA 68.6 - CSA 69.1"
Most definitely there are other inspired writings. Her writings are mentioned in Revelation 19:10 as the Spirit of Prophecy.
