This is very motivating, thank you! In the past, I used to have a large basket with a long handle I could hang in my shoulder where. I could drop all my pending sewing homework(including uncut patterns) and I would take with me whenever I had "parent waiting time" that I could not afford to waste. The basket went to doctor"s offices, rehersals, family visits, school conferences, study groups, etc. It was so satisfying returning home with so many projects finished...or at least started! Most of it was thrifted pieces that needed hemming, a change of buttons or rescuing a beautiful lace. You have motivated me now to complete a project to hemming a bunch of thrifted jeans.

Aaaah I’m so glad to have motivated you! I hope you get the chance to work on some of those projects yourself as well move through the start of the year. Thanks for watching! ❤️

I think the reason the velvet bow had so many pins is that it was a 'added' decoration to the skirt at some time. I don't think it was original. Actually, the ribbon without the bow would attract me more than with.
Glad to see you mending these items for more use.
PS Next time, consider taking a skirt in at the side seams? the taper can be more easily hidden in many cases, though as you have that long torso a long dart is probably worthwhile.

Thank you for the advice! You are probably right with the velvet bow on the skirt, it’s lovely but it does seem like a far more hastily Handsewn on detail that doesn’t quite match the quality of the rest of the skirt’s make. And thank you for the tips with the miniskirt! I’ll definitely try taking it in at the side seams next time I (inevitably) buy something the wrong size for me. 😅 thanks for watching!

I ca't speak for other threads but the reason they didn't cut the threads at the bottom of the dart is because it's a tayloring standart thing. There is a reason for it if you (or anyone else) are curious lmk^^

Hey! That totally makes sense on the darts, since from what I’ve seen it’s relatively normal not to backstitch on darts. Would love to hear the reason you know of as well! There were definitely a lot more stray threads in the underneath of the skirt than I otherwise would have expected, but since it’s lined I suppose there was less need to go cutting every stray thread since they didn’t expect someone to go muddling through the guts of this specific skirt. 🥰 not their fault! Just a surprise for me, and quite validating, hahaha.

Aaaaah thank you so much! Hahaha my little kitty tries to be helpful but rarely manages to actually help - more of a project manager really 😅 and don’t worry, given my own love for corduroy you’ll be seeing a whole lot more of it on this channel, for sure!

Well done! Look out for hat pins in vintage shops as well. A fun accessory that can also secure a hat.
