I’m so happy Khanyisa has a loving family once again. I can’t imagine the agony her mother went through having to abandon her, and baby K seeing her mother leave and being left to die. They have such strong family bonds, feelings, they are truly remarkable creatures. My faith in humanity is restored. 🐘💕

I adore Kumbura. I think she’s beautiful, elephant perfection, and has the sweetest calmest personality. So incredibly protective and patient with Khenisyia. Just look at her and Tokwe just patiently standing there, doing nothing except watching their baby. Wonder if they are talking about her? Like a parent would, “Look how she’s clearing that branch by stripping it! Remember when she couldn’t figure out how to do that so she ate the leaves straight off the bush?”

Such loving creatures...I do think they enjoy Adine touching them, and they seem very relaxed in moving through the bush. Love watching their trunks move about. What a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.
There are ca 40,000 muscles in an elephants trunk. We have ca 600 muscles in our entire body. I would imagine that this means elephants can control pretty much every inch of their trunk. Which would explain how they are able to extend their trunks out horizontally. Amongst otger amazing feats.
Khanyisa continues to master her trunk skills. Ever tree limb is covered with long sharp thorns😳. Yet the tip of their trunks sniff, touch and pull individual leafs from between each thorn. Khanyisa has her eyes open a bit more today, the bright sun is behind clouds today. Her tusks are irresistibly 🥰 cute. If she continues to rub the ends flat … they may never get much longer😂. It is amazing to see how close this big blended family has become. The bulls and the big females all have their heirarchy and everyone knows their place and all keep an eye on the two little ones Timisa and Kahnysia. Those little tusks are so cute and you can see them growing every day

I've watched this video 3x's and counting. Can't get enough...lol I've noticed in several videos that Khanyisas' eyes take on a green hue when she's in the lush green areas grazing.
It’s amazing how her eyes were a bright soft blue when she was under one year of age but they have become greener looking as she has aged. It’s interesting to watch an albino calf growing and changing. Thank you for watching with us 👀

Khanysia growing confidence in on display today. She is independent within the parameters of her age that is. Kumbura is so beautiful, so caring and tender. I'd not realized that she is indeed a bit taller than Tokwe. Tokwe with her beautiful long slender tusks is always a joy to see. I wonder what would occur if the carers stayed ar the compound 1x, and let the Herd just do whatever. I bet they'd hang out at the compound for a bit, then in smaller groups go different directions, then all get back together by sunset.

I got good news this week. The elephants that have been in the circus here are no longer in the show. I am so hoping they have been taken to a sanctuary to live. Have been seeing them for 20 years. Saw the baby grow up. This circus took good care of them but they all need to be free. Have been told only 3 circuses in the USA has elephants now

I got good news this week. The elephants that have been in the circus here are no longer in the show. I am so hoping they have been taken to a sanctuary to live. Have been seeing them for 20 years. Saw the baby grow up. This circus took good care of them but they all need to be free. Have been told only 3 circuses in the USA has elephants now
