- I love talking about retro gaming and I love talking about arcade games...and you know full well I love my retro games rare and esoteric! So let's talk about Lucky and Wild from Taito...one of the rarer video games I own! It runs on the Namco System 2 derivative board with a powerful for it's time duak Motorola 68000 CPU and its one of Namco's most unique games as its a racing game ala Chase HQ from Taito as WELL as a lightgun arcade game!

If you know my channel you know I love obscure games...and it does NOT get much more obscure than Lucky and Wild by Namco. It's a classic arcade racing game with lightgun elements ala The House of the Dead or Time Crisis. It's one of only a handful of games released on theNamco System 2 derivative board...the most famous being NONE OF THEM!...and its exceedingly rare! Luckily this game does work via MAME emulation...and after a two year hunt I can finally show it to you as real retro gaming hardware! It's an absolute arcade hidden gem and a video game hidden gem...and a VERY RARE piece of rare gaming hardware.

This game always rocked! I remember the first time playing it, it was at a friends birthday party at an arcade, the game was a huge hit, the second player gun is just awesome

Oh wow, I have distinct memories of playing this as a kid in a resort hotel arcade room circa like, 2002-2003, on a family vacation. My brother and I played it multiple times but I don’t think we could ever past level 2 or something 😅Could never remember what the game was called until seeing this!

Awesome pickup! Lucky and Wild is a game that's stuck in my head ever since I saw it in arcades back in the day. I didn't get to play it much since my local arcade jacked up the price per play and it was super difficult. But what a cool game idea. I'd love to see someone make a game like this in VR with wheel and VR controller support.
Oh and +1 for wanting to see a follow up video when you get everything working.

I first played this at a Chuck E Cheese restaurant when I was a kid. They also had Wild Pilot, Jurassic Park, Cyber Sled, Outrunners there. Good times.

@@VideoGameEsoterica Maybe a little TOO many :D Currently want more than I should get. :D I mean, I can play them other ways, but I'm still on my arcade PCB acquisition kick. :P You warned me it would be a problem. hehehe... I actually dreamed that I found a Momoko 120% board on a trip to Japan, but it was $3000. I bought it anyway in my dream.

Wouldn’t be Sinden as it’s an analog controller for the gun but I get what you mean

Interesting, currently got Suzaki 48hr in front of me and v2. It has a chip in the Keycus, IC333 custom where you show it is empty. I am trying to get them to link, well v1 x2.. struggling, will get there as there is a fault somewhere. Great that L/W, I yet to play it and I know there is a cab in the UK
Networking is never fun. Even when it’s wired up correctly half the time it doesn’t work I swear

Seems pretty complicated to get playing, a game with a steering wheel and gun but I bet it’s fun as hell though. Never played that game
