I take offense to the first plaintiff. After the verdict he had the nerve to imply that autistic kids are somehow damaged. I am autistic and I have an autistic child. I wouldn’t trade my son for all the “healthy” kids in the world. What a pompous jerk.
The diagnosis is given out like candy anymore. Any kid that's a little oddball is considered " autistic" . Most " autistic" people aren't actually autistic.

I kind of feel for the daughter who owed her mother. It’s hard when you’re a child who does everything right, self-sufficient and your parents divert attention from you to other more “problemed” siblings. It hurts feeling neglected/ignored as the “easy kid”.

The guy was a prize, wasn't he? Probably married the affair partner, and sued to get that paltry amount returned because his current wife wouldn't let him in the house if he didn't. At the end he showed more emotion when he said he wanted to make amends with his older two. Sounds like an awful situation for everyone.
It's funny how hearsay is not allowed in civil cases, but is allowed in criminal cases yeah you got to remember Illinois still lives in the past they still don't allow cameras video cameras in their courtrooms I wonder why (sarcastic)
It's not allowed in criminal cases either unless it can be corroborated (ie a non hearsay testimony to verify the evidence) or certain specific circumstances (death bed confessions) or as testimony for state of mind (ie my neighbor who has since died told me x and based on x I did abc) so the hearsay statement cannot be taken as truthful evidence but can be used to understand state of mind testimony that potentially explains motive
