Still working hard for nothing and excited when somebody just makes it it's 2024 and we still stuck on being excited about who came next for some plastic and oh wow the racist want to accept you for being a good little puppet. This is not winning if times haven't changed we would still be in the fields picking cotton and house N*&*3* believe that don't get it twisted. She lost for 2 reasons:
1- Oscars have a Death To Marvel mentality (which i sort of agree with - those movies are collectively garbage)
2- Too many Asians won acting awards that year, so all Angela could've filled the category all by herself & they still would've written in a white woman.

A True Queen. Her receiving this honor, instead of a win from last year's Oscars ceremony, at least allowed her the opportunity to say these profound and necessary words. The speech hits harder now because of the recent conversation around the pay disparity and lack of opportunities between Black actresses and their white female and male counterparts. And actresses of color make even less money and receive even less opportunities. Hopefully, the entertainment industry will use this moment to meaningfully and significantly progress in its practices. It's been nearly one hundred years that the industry has existed, please get it together.

Angela Bassett is an influential figure and artist that deserves her flowers. She brings class, integrity, gravitas and pathos to every role she has played. There are many, many roles she could have played to perfection that she turned down because she is a lady and a thespian first; she refuses to do anything easy or to be a blemish in her industry because she knows what it means to be the only, to be the first, to be the barrier-breaker and knows that she would be looked differently as a black woman because of her choices. She took home this honorary achievement because the industry acknowledges she should have had one, two or even three competitive awards and they honored her because she remained gracious through it all, even when it was tough (and being an artist, especially today, is very tough!!). Thank you Mrs. Bassett, you did the thing. Now, get a competitive Oscar! It’s time to go EGOT!!
