Baby Boomer vs. Millennial: What Is the Eggplant Emoji?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 21 сен 2024
- Ellen hosted another round of Baby Boomer vs. Millennial, and each contestant learned a lot about the other's generation... including exactly what an eggplant emoji is used for and what "Be Kind, Rewind" means.
The poor Eggplant and Peach will never be the same.
Mike Cole I must be the only millennial that’s never used either of those emojis. How do you even use it?
@@doctronfour9060 Send the eggplant emoji with a smirk emoji to your significant other if you're a guy.
🍑🍑🍑
Jaslene Love u can sent it if ur a girl too... Equal representation 👏👏
Bro i thought this was the emoji 👉👌
Ellen should do Gen Z vs. Millennials
Wouldn't work, that's too close of a generation. Maybe Gen X vs Gen Z. Everyone seems to forget about Gen X
@@DirigiblePlum Agree. As a GenX, I felt like I knew almost all the boomers and millenials questions on these Ellen VS videos. I might be clueless on genz stuff though.
No gen Z vs gen X
THERE IS NO GEN Z
Topper Harley what do you mean?😐
I'm 60, and I knew the answers on both sides! I'm one hip granny! And yes I even knew the eggplant!
MY FAVORITE DOLLS AND MINITURES “im one hip granny” thats the funniest thing ive heard in a long time
XD XD XD My Grandma wouldn't know anything, although she is 84, so I guess it wouldn't count! She is really awesome though, and can manage her smartphone pretty well! You sound so cool, though! ^^
MY FAVORITE DOLLS AND MINITURES who’s grandma?
MY FAVORITE DOLLS AND MINITURES !WE DONT CARE!

The comments aren't disabled?! 😲
DCD4Ever only clips with kids have no comments. no bullying the kids is i guess the reaaon.
Now that your here they are
@@joshbrucks not really...
@@joshbrucks they did enable the other video about millenials vs boomers. probably too many insulting comments.
They disable them when the vid has anyone under 18 on the set. Protecting the innocence of the youth.
Boomers really need to research what a Millennial is. I’m one and I was alive and well for “be kind, rewind.” Millennial doesn’t just mean “kids these days.”
lartisteautravail I’m pretty sure it’s under 30
There's a micro generation called xennials. I could answer the questions on both sides. 1977-1983.
@@WaitingConfused Not everyone under 30.
Luka I'd was born on Jan 7 1997 what does that makes me ?.
@@RicardoPerez-rz8pu Gen Z.
i feel like people in gen z get thrown into the millennial generation like gen z and millennials are completely different.
I agree. And then the millenials forgot that after Gen Z, we already have Gen Alpha. Meanwhile...Gen X is forgotten lol
Exactly
Katie Harris super different. The eggplant is Gen Z
@@takewhataway We are fine with that. We do NOT want to show up in any history book. This idiocracy is to painful.
Yeah..
We're Stray Bullets and Z's are empty shells
"Come over for dinner" was the correct answer...

"And what does it mean if your phone is blowing up"
It's a Samsung lol
Ha ha...good one.
edit samsung note 7
nope , you clearly don't know samsung
Ooooohhhh! 🤣
Maciej Konarski funny you commented after they fixed the battery on the s8 XD
is so cute when she say "u na na " 😂
I died when she said ummm... they wanna spend time 😂😂 most politically correct answer ever lol trump could pick up some hints
This is a mindless TV show. Trump is draining our country of vile corrupt Satanists. Did you want him to read them a bedtime story?

"Meme: Picture with some words on it."
Apparently we've been meming since the first grade
The definition is incomplete but yes you have been "meming"
a meme can really be anything, I don’t think there’s a specific definition
@@derekmeade1741 Yes there is, Richard Dawkins invented the term to describe a viral lifeform that spreads and survives by infecting human brains with "Viral" ideas
ataarono yea but Dawkins wasn’t referring to internet memes, although the ideas can be linked
@@ataarono gifs can also be Meme
Well not to be pedantic, but a meme isn't necessarily a picture with words
mistercrociato91 thats the ideal meaning tho
Not sure what you mean by "ideal meaning".
meme = an idea, image, video, etc. that is spread very quickly on the internet:
Take a look at the top ten internet memes for this past year.
It’s a unit of culture
mistercrociato91 yes it is 😂
Very true.
When they said "Gif" instead of "Jif" my frustration kicked in 😂😂😂
Mzzie Productions thats not ocd but LOL cool
Wait its called jif?
I’m 29 and I knew most of the answers. Also I Love Lucy was one of my favorite shows as a kid.
I didn't know some of the Boomer questions because to my experience (real boomer), I was in my late teens and no way did I or my friends sit around and watch some of shows that Ellen mentioned--of course, Lucy, Andy Griffith--yes, and we did know Madonna. Music was different from TV. TV meant staying home. Music was on the go (and run).
I'm 24, i' not fan of Madonna but c'mon i knew it was Vogue... lol.. guuurl!!
They wanna spend "tiiime"... had me out😂😂😂😭💀💀
“They wanna spend tiiiiiiiimeeee”
😂😂😂
Omg ... I love Lucy ! How could you not know that!
Maurice Harriott IKR!!!
People were raised differently.
I'm younger then the girl who is 27 but I knew the answers now I understand why my family say I'm a old lady
Sheraia Mcmullin-hines no she’s just clueless
Sheraia Mcmullin-hines learn your grammar or appropriate words... you meant to say "than" not "then" look it up.
Same
How could they get Vogue wrong?!
Ikr? I facepalmed when the girl on the right was like "Barbie Girl comes to mind..." smh 🤦♂️🙄
Mblem Teybeck I’m 14 and I knew that
IKR! I’m 13 and knew that she made Vogueing famous 😂
My exact same thought!
Because its not from either of their generations. Madonna is from Generation X , not from the Baby Boomers or the Millennial s
"Come to dinner". Technically she wasn't that wrong. XD
I’m 15 and I know what I love Lucy is and it is without a doubt one of the best tv shows ever made
Ryanne VanGelder well you’re different. Being 30 and knowing I love Lucy is understandable. But 15? 👀 is your grandma your BFF or something?
@@doctronfour9060 people were raised differently
I almost lost it when she didnt automatically say I love lucy
They were both amazing. Hilarious especially when the egg plant emoji. The young girl was so sweet... they want to spend time lol
How dare them not know I love Lucy wth I'm 31 I still watch it on Ellen u and Lucy are the best cure for laughs and light hearted.. both make life a joy
“The washing machine” 😂😂 from the Selena movie
The fact that I’m 16 and I knew who Fred and Ethel were makes me sad that the baby boomer didn’t even know
How tf does she not know I love Lucy I’m 18 and I use to watch that 😂
amy B. Garcia I’m 13 and I do!! I love that show
amy B. Garcia when I was in the 7th grade I was lucy for Halloween I went all out with that costume I even got a petticoat to wear under the dress my mom even did my make just like Lucy’s was done.
same!!! i love "i love lucy"
It's funny cuz apparently i fit into the millennials category as i was born after 82 but i knew almost all the baby boomer questions😂😂😂
amy B. Garcia
Same and I’m 12 😂😂😂👌🏼
Is it just me, or are Ellens guests always the most attractive.
Josh Langston it’s just cause they’re women
they might have different interests and knowledge but what i love is that their scream and excitement at the end is just the same haha love you ellen 💗💗
I am a millennial and I knew all of the answers except the tinder one.
I’m 22 and even I have watched multiple seasons of I Love Lucy lol
I am 25, I Love Lucy is my FAVORITE SHOW EVER! Tsk tsk
Same
But I'm 17😂
You go girl! Mine too!
Now she's going to send her children eggplant emojis when she wanna hangout😂
😂😂😂
My fifth grade teacher would always play “I Love Lucy” in class lol
At work, a mix of ages of us realized these polarities. Asked my 20-something coworker what she thought "dungarees" were and she thought it was a kind of chocolate LOL!! Half of us burst out laughing but we all ended up laughing together when we told her.
What are those, I don't wanna google it
“Come for dinner”
“ummm they wanna spend time “
I had to laugh so hard -I was watching Judge Judy the other day and the woman was trying to talk about memes and she kept saying Mimi. 'She sent me these Mimis .... ' I suppose on one level it makes sense but it still cracked me up to pronounce it that way.
I was born in the 2000s and I even know vouge I mean come on people
Selina Chi Madonna and don't feel uneducated I learned it from qouir😂
Maybe someday everyone can be just as smart as you are
but were you on the Ellen show?
Kamanchuisdabomb i love the sarcasm bro. Btw this isn’t sarcastic
Gaga Banana I did
I just love how people are always so excited and positive on Ellen!
Before comment section disabled 😀
Love you Ellen 😍
“They want to send timmme...” 😂😂😂
Gen X would get all the answers right. Cuz we were raised by the Baby Boomers and we're living in a millennial world.
Chris I was just thinking this
@nope they are def not.
Faizan A No, Gen X just mind their own business and stay out of the Boomer/Millennial debate.
And we gave birth to millennials!
I am a Boomer and raised millenials. 25 and 27.
I got them all right and I’m 16😂 but I died when she said, “They wanna spend time...”😂😂
Omg, Fred and Ethel mertz !!! The all time best neighbors ❤️
I love how interactive Ellen is .
They should really rethink what a millenial is because i don’t use words like yolo, i’m not on tinder..i know the beatles, madonna, micheal jackson....
Shirinka Derky yeap exactly. I’m 33 all the above was still frequently mentioned in pop culture as I grew up.
If you watch the other "Baby Boomer vs. Millennial" clips from Ellen dating back to 2016 all the prizes are a "55 inch TCL Roku TV". Must have a stash of those sitting around 😂
Ellen said I Love Lucy should be watched in schools, in 6th grade my teacher had us watch about 2 episodes every week
An emoji! An emoji!? Is it ...an emoji ?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 The sweetest thing !
27... I thought she was 36. Dang.
Alyssa Ramirez lol. she looks olderrr
Nah wtf are u guys on! 36 my foot

Same lol
Alyssa Ramirez they be looking old
Alyssa Ramirez she doesnt look 36 where the f do you live?
They wanna spend time 😂🤣 she was so nice lol
I’m a Gen Z and I knew all of them. Especially the madonna one because of Full House
the right guest needs her own show.. she’s funny 😆
"come to dinner"
well, sort of
Yeah like when she ate the hotdog and the hotdog's oil came out.
For the Happy day, I would've guessed McDonalds.
I can’t be friends with anyone who doesn’t not just know but LOVE “I LOVE LUCY” 🤔😑😶🤨
OK BOOMER
The younger girls eggplant response was so cute....lol "idk if I can say it...um they wanna spend tiiimmmeee" lmao
I'm 22 and I knew these answers, good lord.
Also voguing came from the LGBTQ NYC ball scene. Madonna might have popularized it, but she didn't invent it.
I'm 29 and have watched almost every episode of I love Lucy. Even watched some reruns recently. Such an amazing show!!!
They're all reruns.😉
Oh its dinner alright. LoL
My daughter actually had to watch "I Love Lucy" in her tv production class. She watched it for weeks after.
Your daughters school then knows how to reach proper lessons. I'm my school I love Lucy was never even mentioned, luckily my parents took it upon themselves to show me 😂
Watching the Vogue video should be mandatory for all millennials.
I’ve been so lost watching your videos that I lose track of time. I didn’t realize it’s already 5am 🤦🏽♀️
i cant comment on the other one, so imma just leave a link and say "ok boomer". for the memes bois.
I love the boomers vs millennials!!
Wish Ellen would do more of them
ok this is hilarious but also lowkey unfair because the millennials weren’t even alive when the boomer slang was popular but the boomers are alive at the same time as the millennials...
“What does it mean if someone says “your phone is blowing up”
“It means that you have a Samsung”
Eric Cartman 😂
Memes are rapidly spreading socially shared thoughts, experiences, ideas etc. One type of meme is the "can haz cheezeburger" words on images, but memes have been video clips (e.g. the dancing baby [1], which is considered by many people as the very first meme), songs (e.g. Ylvis' "What Does the Fox Say?"[2]), pranks[3], sayings ("Honey badger don't care. Honey badger don't give a s..."[4]), etc.
And while many recent gifs are animated, they don't have to be. gif is simply a digital standard for images, which can include animated images.

boo yah THANK YOU
boo yah although i do contend with calling an internet video the first meme. richard dawkins coined the term in the 60s or 70s, to describe something that has always been happening. the first meme happened with the first people.
@Ictus - You are 100% correct, the dancing baby is considered by many as the very first *_internet_* meme, and Richard Dawkins coined the term long before that!
I had debated how "academic" to get with my comment, and decided to focus on internet memes, but failed to indicate that.
Thank you politely correcting me!
I hope someone told her cuz shes gonna be inviting all her kids and friends to dinner with eggplant emojis hahahaha
You should do all 3 generations. GenX would get both answers right. We r the forgotten generation though :(
Gen Xers are boomers in disguise
Ellen: What does it mean when your phone is blowing up
Me: you have a Samsung
this is too funny! the answers though
I’m a millennial and totally know Lucy! I have a Lucy license plate frame and the entire series. How do you not know that show?!?! Happy days, blah!!
I’m 21 but I LOVE I Love Lucy and it HURT ME the girl didn’t know who her neighbors were!! 😅
The Mertz's, I love "Lucy" so much.
what about gen x?
Greg Severance we get no love and yet we know all of this !
27 years and does not know I love Lucy.... I wasn’t even born here and I love that show!!!!
I literally know the vogue and I’m 12. Are you kidding me!?
Ellen is the reason I can't sleep at night
Hey Ellen Jamaica love you !
2:32 when she says the flinstones I am a millennial and I know that show I felt insulted 😂💀
0:56 how is it I am 13 and I guessed vogue before they even started guessing?!?!
- Wanna come to dinner?... Well, that's one way to put it LOL
Ellen says "gif"
Issy Ingenito that’s how it’s pronounced, I looked it up 😂
And then there are those of us in Generation X who know the answers to all these questions 😂😂😂
Tammy Tenison Yes!! 😂😂
ok boomer
I really, really, reallly want Ellen as my Granma 😂
I wanna see bebe rexha on the show
My heart hurt when they didn't know Fred and Ethel! I'm 31 and still watch I Love Lucy on the regular. The best comedy ever. I can still watch every episode and laugh like I've never seen it before, but still know most of the lines before they say them! If you're reading this and haven't seen I Love Lucy, please go watch an episode or 3, they're on Hulu and Prime Video!
Not all of us millennia’s are like that trust me
I know right!
Every video of this show makes me so envious of the audience 🙄🙄
The eggplant emoji represents the economy the boomers destroyed
3:20 i love the black womans reaction in the bottom left corner 😭😭
Ok Boomer
Im loving these baby boomers vs millennials videos! I cant believe most millennials cant read a clock🤣😂🤣
I love you Ellen! 💙
