  • In this video i smelted Tiny Cell phone BGA chips for gold and surprisingly i managed to recover a decent amount of gold. Join me in this journey.
    I'm processing gold through smelting followed by the cupellation process . This is an ancient method of gold recovery from gold ore.

    Nice, 7 g per kg, wow, that is a lot... I was way off guessing 4 g, probably because cell phone BGAs are small... Ancient method it is, first book about it TREATISE ON ORES AND ASSAYING is from 1573 written by Lazarus Ercker, mint master in Kutna Hora, near my hometown. Was main textbook about fire assay for 300 years... First book using scientific method in technology. Ofcourse, method is older than that, some sources say 4 500 years old...

      Thanks for watching mate. Of course these tiny toys should be old enough to yield this way.
      Wow such stunning info....like to read the first book...👍

      A fume hood supported by a bag filter system with a cyclone would solve the problem.

    The yellow fire released after adding naoh meqns that the reaction produce hydrogen gas... can you explane to le how naoh makes yiu get rid of carbone please?

    • @PickyPlans
      @PickyPlans  4 дня назад +1

      C + 2 NaOH + H2O = Na2CO3 + 2 H2
      And produced sodium carbonate used as the flux itself

    Can I use copper instead of lead?

    • @PickyPlans
      @PickyPlans  29 дней назад +1

      For cupellation no you can't. But You can use copper as the collector metal then dissolve it in nitric acid to get gold powder

    dissolved gold in aqua regia and during the presipitation there was a lot of non-neutralized nitric acid so I put a piece of copper in the solution and dissolved it a week later I obtained sediments which I boiled in HCL then rinse and boil again in 65% nitric cine and I obtained a cloud of black material floating according to your experience what is black cloud

    • @PickyPlans
      @PickyPlans  8 месяцев назад

      It could be gold or platinum according to the first material you dissolved.

    Can I precipitate the gold in aqua regia with aluminum?

    • @PickyPlans
      @PickyPlans  8 месяцев назад +1

      With too much nitric acid, passivation won't let gold percipitate out.
      Also if that happens you will get a mix of all metals.
