Great idea for a video Jamie. I haven't needed to do this yet but it's definitely something I've wondered about as I'm sure I will need to add extra storage at some point. Thank you!
Hey. No probs at all fella. Like I say. This has been requested too much not to make a video.
This tip (by using Link Shell Extension) is awesome (because from cmd, it's not user friendly). Thank you Jamie! 👍
Hey, no probs at all. Glad I could help :)
Shame RetroBat doesn't just simply allow you to point to specific folders in it's settings like most other frontend's!
Simply done in Retrobat too ;)
@@JustJamie1983 I can’t find the setting! Where is it? 🙈
I haven't done a setup guide for that as of yet.
@@JustJamie1983 ill just copy the games from my SD card onto my C: drive for now then!
@@UrbexWonderlandjust go in es-system and redéfine the path of your roms.
Great stuff mate!
@@AJDOLDCHANNELARCHIVE hey, thanks very much.
Great video, thanks for shared, it's very useful. I think this backgound music is loud, but, it is just I think.
Hey, thanks for the feedback.
This is a great way!
But it doesn't work when using NAS.
I store the ROM on a network device and it can't make such a link
Ideally, I would like to be able to store part of the ROMs on one disk, part on another, part on the network. That is, if we consider PS3 ROMS, I would store large and frequently used games on a local SSD disk, games that are smaller but often used on HDD, games from the collection on NAS.
After all, theoretically there is no difference how many directories to scan one or more.
Hey there. Sorry but I cannot say much about networking devices for games.
Thnaks my friend... I could do it.
Hey, no probs. Glad you sorted it.
Can you remove one system from the retrobat roms directory and use symbolic link to transfer that same console but from another drive in to the roms folder??
Can you please rephrase the question. It sounds like your question is what this video is about?
Here's a challenge for you Jamie. I can't figure out a way of doing this or if it's even possible. I want to create a portable retrobat/ wii and gamecube (actual consoles) hybrid drive. The challenge is the format for console must be fat32 and the link shell extensions must be ntfs. And portable. Headscratcher. If you or someone can figure this out, I shall bow down. 😅
Would it be possible to have a ps3 folder in the retrobat folder on the c drive and also have a link to another ps3 folder on the d drive? Does retrobat detects roms for a console in two paths (2 different drives)?
Unfortunately nope! 😪
@@dominiquecamus8488 I figured out what to do, I merged two 20tb drives into on and now have plenty of space for everything.
Im running windows 10 and sadly this method does not work. Any idea?? Once i paste my sybolic link, it causes error incorrect fuctions.
I am sorry but if you have copied what I did their isn't a reason it shouldn't work.
Thanks very useful 😁
My pleasure 😀
This is genius! Thank you Jamie. Ps - is animatics DX the name of your theme/
No probs at all. Thanks for watching. Not sure to be honest. This video was uploaded some time back.
Seems easy enough thanks for the video... I'm pretty sure there is a way to do this without that program u downloaded I remember having to do a similar thing with something I had a few years back but can't remember what I did... But either way thanks for the help
Hey, no probs at all. Thanks for watching.
Thank😍😍😍

Hey there, many thanks for watching 😀
Got update avalable ECO is off. Any idea how to solve this Problem?
Hey. I have replied to your question on the other video.
@@JustJamie1983 thanks
@jeanwelsch8798 my pleasure 😀
What if you want the source to be on different drives
Then you repeat the process.
Was wondering how this could be done is there a portable version of this that could run from an external drive that your retrobat on it or can this be done just by switching the install location for this program.
Just like in the video.
Link Shell Extension installation says explorer.exe needs to be restarted not the PC.
Love the channel & I have liked and Subscribed, hopefully I might learn something, Cheers mate
Hey, no probs at all my friend.
There's isn't an basic option in RetroBat to point your rom location to another drive? This is absolutely bonkers ;) I could follow these instructions, but most emulators has this option, even old ones... darn
Which emulators can point to various locations?
I keep getting a Link Shell Extenson (1) incorrect function. Any ideas?
I really have no idea right now, sorry.
@@JustJamie1983 I figured it out. The SD Card was formatted by default as exFAT. I formatted it to NTFS and now the links work perfect.
thanks for the video
@shaolin95 glad you sorted it. Nothing more annoying when you can work something out like this.
Thanks - Hare Krishna!
My pleasure. Enjoy 😉
