    I love Jicky. I have it in the parfum concentration. I think it is funny how Chanel totes No 5 as the oldest modern fragrance still being produced, but that distinction really goes to Jicky which pre-dated No 5 by 30 years. I guess Jicky is also the first uni-sex fragrance. I actually heard that it was marketed to women but both mostly men actually wore it and women started up wearing it also.

    I love the opening of Jicky. The civet scent absolutely adheres to my skin, as does cumin. I can't take the civet. But, will give it another go.

    So true about the civet note! It legit makes the fragrance smell like "country air". Once it calms down, it's very pleasant. I find it relaxing. Love the opening note and the full dry down though.

    I love Jicky! I didn't at first, I found it repelled me a little. I find it light and interesting and yes, once I got use to the "barnyard" note, I really relished it. It took me a few wks, and I will go through a month of
    Not been able to stand it, but other times I need to wear it for comfort. I find it suitable for bedtime, helps me sleep, to me it is not a "going out" fragrance. I am like that with Mitsouko too.
    I noticed that one of your subs asked if there was a comparison between Jicky and Mon Guerlain ( there are not enough words in the dictionary to explain my distaste for that one lol) - night and day!
    Thanks for your review. Exactly how I would describe it- angel, devil, angel...but it is quite unusual and wonderful :) :)

    Hiya, thanks for the mention and you're most welcome. That herbal bunch that you were referring to is called "bouquet garni". You are absolutely right about its duality. It is very much the DNA ancestor of later Guerlain fragrances. The floral reminds me of Shalimar, the skank is very like Habit Rouge with its horsey tang. Must not forget the enigmatic Mitsouko.

    Thank you for the review! I loooove Jicky EDP and plan on always having a bottle in my arsenal. Sometimes It feels like it’s got short-ish longevity but then I can often smell the dry-down on my skin in the morning after having sprayed it the night before. I can definitely still smell it on my clothes from the night before.

    I once read somewhere that Jicky was a favourite of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. I had a vintage, full bottle of the pure parfum that spilt before I had the chance to try it. The fragrance was extremely strong and overwhelming, but that was probably because the whole bottle's contents spilt out at once. I did not like the lavender note in it and never bothered to try another bottle. Jicky is probably the only fragrance from Guerlain's back catalog that did not win me over, unfortunately. It probably smelt divine on Jacqueline, though. :)

      @@ShannonLee1956 Shalimar is special. Sometimes I think I prefer the EdT to the EdP. Depends on the weather to a great extent, though. The EdT is an easer wear during the hot months. I also like Parfum Initial. It is the only fragrance in recent years that a total stranger complimented me on and asked the name. :)

  • @FabiWe91

    This is a very accurate review. I really like that you take the time to actually wear something a couple of times before talking about it. If you're into this hybrid thing of aromatic and amber, you need to try Hasu-no-Hana by Grossmith. It's about the same age and it also does this fascinating walk on the line between the genres. Guerlain's Vol de Nuit does it too, just that it's amber and chypre. I'm not that fond of many chypres, but Vol de Nuit, omg...

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  3 года назад +2

      I'm very familiar with Hasu No Hana, it's actually amazing and much better than Jicky (unpopular opinion haha). Thanks for your comment. :)

    Timeless, masterpeace, evergreen , they don't do scent this good anymore. Jicky goes from cold to warn....aromatic to animalic. Etc...( Jicky is classified, at least in France where i live as being a semi-oriental) i think jicky is better than Shalimar....as it is simplier, rawer....oh, and by the way....mouchoir de Monsieur is also made of jicky.!
