As someone who has not seen or heard anything from Hamilton, I couldn’t agree more 🫡 but seriously though, the style is very different to what we currently have in the released Sagas, I too am glad he has found his own style. It’s certainly unique and entertaining
i mean in fairness to athena they probably are just some guys to her shes the goddess of warfare so the crew are probably like beginners to her although with ody... yeah i dont got anything for that
While I think Open Arms is the better choice (as it moves the plot along), Ismarus/Your Light makes Polites seem more like a character rather than just a plot device. In Ismarus/Your Light, he seems more like a warrior who has more a positive outlook on life and still fought a 10 year long war. While he doesn’t want a raid, he still understands why it needs to happen, but still wants a more pacifist approach. Open Arms Polites seems more naive as he wants to avoid a raid altogether and is too trusting, and doesn’t really seem like a grizzled war veteran.

It fits with the line from Ruthlessness "The line between naivety and hopefulness is almost invisible" so I think Open Arms is better for the story because it makes that line make more sense.
BROOOOOO 'Your Light' made so much sense for polites' character I've always thought his death was wayyy too quick, 2 songs after his introduction in full speed ahead, he was already killed by poly TT

I actually have a theory, based on the fact that "never once has he cheated on his wife" but also the fact that he and Polites seem to be more than just friends (and, yk, ancient Greece) that there was a polaymory situation going on there. Penelope said goodbye to her husband knowing full well that he would potentially be at war for years and knowing that he would need someone to help get him through it and back to her, and gave her wholehearted blessing to him and Polites. I even have this mental clip of her calling Polites Ody's light, and bidding him guide her husband through war with light and love, and then to guide him home. Polites being important to Penelope would also explain why Telemachus grows up with a lot of his attitudes and themes, too, because Polites is a part of them. A friend of mine takes it a step further and theorises that if they were a throuple, Telemachus might actually be biologically Polites son, hence the similarities. I'm not sure I'm into that one, but it's a fun theory none the less.
So that's why so many animatic artists have Polites there when Odysseus killed the boar- 😭 Man thank goodness Jorge didn't like... give a nod to Your Light by having Polites sing it in Underworld or something my heart would have BROKEN-
What i really like about this is the "i keep thinking of the infant from that night" and how here polites is here to reassure odysseyus, while in the underworld saga we have a similar moment but instead of reassurance its the haunting memory of polites, and how much odysseyus' guilt weighs on him
So many bones of later songs in these. I love that the cut songs are all the good Planks of Jorge's personal Ship Of Theseus, used to rebuild it into the musical masterpiece Jorge has made.
Actually, it doesn’t have to be a prequel to open arms. In fact, I think it can take place directly after warrior of the mind since after Odysseus is been reminded that he’s supposed to be this warrior by Aida. I think he gets serious and Polites noticed and then Your Light starts playing

It’s crazy how much Epic improved over time. These songs are alright but rather amateurish and ripping off Hamilton in style. But Jorge was able to take the best parts of these songs and turn them into actual masterpieces in the final versions
HEAR ME OUT. if your light wasnt cut, what if: ody says “i only took the blow so u could live” in regards to jumping in the way of polites and the boar, right? so in survive, polyphemus walks in odysseus’ direction (not aiming to kill him but maybe someone beside him) but polites panics and jumps in front of ody. then polites ends up being pancake'd by polyphemus. so basically he only took the blow so odysseus could live.
Man it’s crazy how EPIC started off as geek Hamilton and became such a unique show. It really shows how Jorge improved and developed.
