In this video, Dave is going to show us how to do that Garage Door Quick Release Lock installation. This is needed for garages that the only entrance way is the garage door. In the event where electricity is out, this allows a manual way to open the garage door.
This is what is used in this video on Amazon:

Never knew this existed! I was researching battery backups and wound-up here. Thank you! 🤝👍
Thank you for your feedback! 🤝
I can see the relevance for these things where needed, but dang.. that's a huge security risk.
PS.. I adore your wife's dialog trying to keep you safe, priceless :-)
Yep no thief will ever get that lock open!
Using screws on the outside would allow anyone with a screwdriver to pull the whole plate off and tug the cable without the key. The kit comes with carriage bolts for this exact reason.
Thank you for your feedback. Yes it is true that using the included carriage bolts is more secure. The bolts were not long enough for our door, it they fit your door it is a better way.
@@DIYProjectsByDave make sure you buy longer flat head screws then.
So go to the orange store and buy longer carriage bolts ,I guess if you have an empty garage who cares, but even one of my tools is worth a little effort to buy longer bolts!@@DIYProjectsByDave
@@smedleybutler1969 Thank you for your feedback. Agreed. A more secure solution is always better!
como instalar un motor de garage
As you've fitted the release cable plate with simple screws, some scumbag has only got to unscrew those and give it a quick tug and they're in. The square hole at 4:02 is for a security type coach bolt which will stop this happening.
Thank you for watching. Yes you are correct that it The screws I used could be removed. Actually this kit came with carriage bolts instead of screws which are much more secure but they were too short for this door. In this case the garage door is the only entrance (no other window or door) so I was more concerned about getting the door open during a power failure than someone breaking in so I decided to use the screws instead.
I could remove that lock from the outside

Guess I’ll use security screws just for added security. Thnx
