Thank you for the advice!!
Hey @SonderingEmily, do you need a graduation, in game development, to get same skill sets, or can you learn this easily on your own, if yes, where do best begin, do you draw, do you learn coding first, it's overwhelming to get a starting posistion, a few weeks ago iv started with Blender but yea, where to go from that then? xD
Hi Emily! How do you manage to have time for your channel and vg studio? I already have my channel (and like 8 years of experience working in blogs, podcast and videos) but I want to start as a game dev and work as a freelance. Ask a guy who has a software engineer degree, got affected by recession and wants to change from corporate jobs to freelance and personal projects. Congrats on that Forbes thing and in your game dev process
Thank you! I'm able to balance things right now as the demo of my game is wrapping up, so I'm working more on the pitch rather than the game itself. I also just lost my job, which helps with time management (but not with paying my bills LOL). When working, I'm super hyper-focused and obsessed with finishing my to-do list. When production on my full game starts, I'll probably get way busier then work long hours every day, which isn't ideal.
My tips:
1) Find a tool to organize your life. I use Notion which is a huge help (not sponsored but I wish). Recently I switched to categorizing my to-do list (game studio to-do, content creation to-do, art to-do).
2) Mark everything in a Google Calendar. Even if I'm calling a friend, I'll schedule a time and put it in my Google Calendar
I myself am pretty bad at making time for everything and constantly feel overwhelmed.
@@sonderingemily Hi Emily! Thanks a lot for the advice. I'm currently trying to sort things out with Notion as well. Life is pretty busy so I couldn't sort everything still but I'm heading there. I just released a Baldur's Gate 3 video essay while also making some hours to study for game dev lol. If you happen to have some time to collab or make a podcast then I'll be grateful to helpful. I feel this might be a solitary journey but It shouldn't lol. Anyways. Thanks for the tips. It may sound crazy but I'm almost st a similar situatuon mentally. Wishing the best for the demo release!!!
Are you the voice actor of one from tpot 9
Curious what your game bible looks like - would love a video or tool for making a GDD :)
This was definitely needed; it makes me feel that everything Game dev is doable. :)
Great video!β€ The bible reference was great.
