I tried to open mine, got the screws off but mine would not open as easy as yours so I gave up. Screwed it back up turned it on. Got the white screen. Tapped the Cyber-shot logo on the front a couple times with the handle part of my needle nose pliers and now I got picture again.
Yeah! That's what helped me fix it! But why did you cut that tabs? I cut them too but was not sure why. ADVISE Maybe you will add SGH-S40 word in the name of video? I was just lucky to find it. I used to search it year ago using word SGH-S40
This camera is pretty hardcore. I only got rid of mine after the battery latch broke, white screen, 400+ drops, and other stuff because the lens servo broke :C

Thank you so much. I was able fix my Sony camera which I found in flea market with same white screen issue. Now screen display everything properly.

The tabs put pressure on the lcd ribbon which can make it move.

MAKE SURE THE FLASH IS TURNED ON IN THE SETTINGS. IF THAT DOESN`T WORK THEN YOU WILL NEED A NEW FLASH ASSEMBLY.
