Hey yall, I wanted to say something about water safety. My dad taught me how to swim before I was 4yo. I taught my kids to swim before they were 4yo. My 5yo. daughter moved a play table close to an above ground pool and fell in. She panicked and almost drown, if I had not been so attentive. If there is a will, there is a way. Kids will do things you don't expect, so expect the unexpected. Removable handrails, locking, alarmed cover and draining the hot tub, are ways to be sure your little ones are there tomorrow.
To alarm something outside where a normal window or door contact switch fails at below 32 degrees, replace one with a 2GIG-DW10-345 Thin Door Window Contact & wire it to a dry contact switch outside. The 2GIG will be inside and the dry contact will be outside where it can withstand the freezing temperatures if kept dry. I have one on my riding lawnmower below the seat. In your alarm panel, use the learn function in the installers toolbox, because the ID is different than the manufactured one, Then set it to "wired" to turn off the normal contact, and use the extended wire to the dry contact. IDK if Simply Safe even has a learn function, Vivint does. The 2GIG-DW10-345 Thin Door Window Contact comes with the little 2 wire with the clip that plugs into most wireless contact switches.

Pick your tomatoes when they are green. Bring them into the kitchen and put them on the counter and cover them with a piece of newspaper and they will turn red and ripen in the house. This way the bugs and the birds and deer will not get to them before you do.

Even though a newborn cannot see or does not smile or do much for the first 6 weeks they can taste food, feel your touch, hear you, and smell you and other things. They are learning their surroundings and it should be the most intimate bonding time for the child and it's family.
And I think most mothers are very aware of that. Definitely Allie does.

Trent, you should consider buying some 4” tile pipe in the area on the side of the house to allow the water to drain and keep the dirt dry. It’s not very difficult and will make a huge difference

Greetings from Northeast Ohio. I don’t know if you’ll ever see this comment, but it is an important one. There was a house fire in our area. The fire was started because burnable products were left on the stove such as your box of donuts and the family dog, which was a German Shepherd jumped up and its paw turned the burner on. They had a beautiful home that was destroyed because of this.
Same at my nephews home. It was a pizza box. Luckily, the family was home and caught it in time to prevent disaster.
That is why when we had to replace our kitchen appliances I refused to have one with the knobs on the front. I know they are in fashion but some things I have to choose by safety instead. Children and pets don't mix well with fire hazards.

We had a circuit board go bad on our stove and it turned on the oven cleaning function without the oven door being locked. It taught me not to leave anything on the stove. That was 20 years ago and I still turn the circuit off at the fuse box when we go on vacation.

I keep wondering why you aren't extending the deck roof around to cover the back doors to the addition? You had so much buildup last year that blocked those doors with snow.

I think your neighbor should hire a company to jack up the house and then put in a foundation under it.
that way they can grade the yard around it so water drains away from the house and they will have all their utilities in the foundation and they won't have to worry about things freezing in the winter or being about to access things in the snow. just a thought.
