- I wasn't expecting this. I wasn't prepared. Dangerous Defect, Major faults - I could not drive my campervan until repaired. Surprise expense is NOT good, especially just after Christmas.
A FAILED MOT, Broken Parts, Missing Parts and a Drink Driving problem that lead to a big bill.

I bought a VW Transporter T6 Kombi Highline van 140bhp diesel SWB with tailgate.
I have lots more to do though, I have a new electrical system, using Victron components and a Lithium LIFEPO4 battery, so I obviously need to install some power devices. I have a new sound system, with Focal speakers and ibus 2.1 amp, Playstation PS4, which will be removable, TV's on headrests.
Lots for me to look forward too and it would be nice to take you on the journey.
Vanlife for me is just beginning, it's a great adventure and I'm loving it. 😍

So glad to hear another person saying this about budgets. I've never had a vehicle under 10 years old, simply because it makes no sense to me to lease or purchase a new van, just crazy money and there is more to life than having the latest shiny stuff.
VW's vans are so expensive for what they are, and not particularly reliable either.
There are great budget alternatives to these from the land of the rising sun, its easy to get suckedin the VW whirlpool where some are looking at new vans in excess £100,000 is just ludicrous.
A 2010 Nissan Elgrand van/people carrier with 250bhp V6, 4 wheel drive with full luxury leather interior with swivel captain chairs throughout, drop down TV's in the roof, surrounded camera's etc etc with under 50k miles and full service history can be yours for between £8000 to £10000 imported and on the road here in the UK.
Much better quality than a VW oil burner and alot faster with the V6 sounding awsome at full throttle as you pass a £100k+ Transporter 😁

It’s true though, totally doesn’t matter what you drive, it’s still the same air we breathe, sites we see and places we visit.
@@StaycationLifestyle Yes still a somewhat cheaper than a comparable level T5 of similarage , but the import costs have risen substantially since Covid which makes the cost of importing one comparable to the purchase cost at the vehicle at the Jap auctions.
Having said that everything has increased in price over the last couple of years!
I really enjoyed your honest video on your transporters problems! It great that that you gave your time to help a charity 👍I think its important to highlight the transporter problems as most videos tell us how great they are 10:03 ! I Own a T 6 204 bhp combi with 85k miles and have spent around £6500 just this year 😱 Coil spring , power steering pump, oil leaks both sides of the engine, fly wheel and gearbox side, faulty Dpf ! And more . If I would have known how unreliable these vans are I would have never bought It 😡 However, I love how it looks and drives and how it makes me feel 🤘 I’ve spent to much money to let my van go now and will have to keep it for a while . I want to highlight that the T6 Is NOT A RELIABLE VAN !

Sounds like you’ve had a bad year, with everything happening at once. Have you had problems in previous years? Or just this year.
I once had an Alfa Giulietta, company car exactly the same as a friend who got one at same time. I did 65k miles over 3 years without a problem. His however, spent more time in the garage being fixed. Some are just problematic.
Some do say that the bi turbo engine is problematic, others state otherwise.
@@StaycationLifestyle thanks for your reply 👍the van has been ok up until this year ! My Vw specialist garage says these repairs are common place . I think the newer transporters are like range rovers , great to drive but very expensive to repair ! I would never buy another one which is a shame as I love what they drive like and look like ☹️ I interested where you’ll go with your channel as the new transit I mean transporter will be due out in a year or so . I can’t see there been the same love for future models. Great work , I enjoy your videos 👍👍

I honestly don’t know where the channel will go.
A lot of effort from converters seems to be going into the Crafter, which is a different market (it’s not really a daily vehicle)
I know others are going to be going down the Ford route, then the VW when released, but how buyers will respond I don’t know.
The Multivan is also another possibility.
However, a lot of people aren’t interested in “new” anyway, so I could stick with the current gen.
I have no idea 🤣 Nor do I have any idea what I fancy next.

With the van-as you know it and have done what you have so far you’re probably better off sticking with it!! The spec alone is one to have-twin slider is a game changer!!
Hate to say it but an MOT of service items isn’t the end of the world-if it wasn’t winter and you were feeling fitter I’m sure you could manage most jobs to keep costs down in the future?? Don’t forget the vehicle tax hike on post 2017 vehicles!! Worth doing a run through on the channel for future buyers and their budgets?

Feel your pain! Love my T5 but wow what a money pit. You did get mugged off for the roller guide. Mine broke, got an OEM one from VW dealer £120 and (I'm no mechanic) but had it installed in 15mins.
I will be asking questions when I see them 🤦🏼♂️
I feel your pain, one of my dogs became unwell just before Christmas, £4500 later we made the choice, more he made it for us to send him over the rainbow bridge 😔, he was insured but tbh 🙄, I got £1600 back. Life is too short. The best thing when these bumps happen is to talk about it, we juggle enough with life, sometimes we may drop a ball but can always pick it back up 👌🏻❤️

@@StaycationLifestyle 2 to 3 hours work at the most and as for the slide indoor the part is just about nine pounds and takes about five minutes I ordered one yesterday the middle guide roller for my sliding door cost me 15 pounds nearly 16 actually only three screws such a simple job
