I finally did it! I finally modeled our language arts like yours using books and a grammar resource(s) and I am absolutely thrilled!! I wish I hadn’t waited so long to rip off the bandaid and just try. I doubted myself this whole school year so I never went for it. I’m so glad that after talking it all out with my husband I felt encouraged to just give it a try. I used your free month at a glance printable to get it all out of my head and on paper. That’s when I realized how easy and doable it is. Today was day one of giving it a try and I love it!! I have complete confidence that I can make it our own and it totally suits my daughter. She learns best when everything is relatable and relevant anyways, so showing her how grammar and language is used in real life is 👌🏻. I needed simple and so did she. 🙌🏻

YAYYY!!! This is amazing! I'm so happy to hear this. I completely relate to being nervous about it. I was in the same boat just over a year ago, but I've never looked back! We have so much more fun reading great novels together and not being glued to random workbook pages. Thank you so much for giving me this update! I'd love to hear more about it and how it's going in the future! I'm so curious - Just because I'm a nerd about books - What are ya'll reading?? :)

@@simplylearningtogether651 currently my daughter is reading book four of Critter Club independently, which is miraculous!! This is the one we’re using as our reference to show comma usage, quotation marks, etc. She’s put in so much work over the last two years, and has come so far with her ability to read. I could cry. I’m reading aloud Secret Garden at night. We just watched the newer version of the movie. I think the one I watched in the 90’s is better though. I hope she wants to watch The Little Princess too! Oh yeah, and to my surprise my daughter decided she wants to read another book by herself at night! I’m shocked because up until this point she’s hated reading because it was so hard for her. She picked book one of Greetings from Somewhere. And another oh yeah, we’re listening to book one of Book Scavenger. 😂

@@simplylearningtogether651 we’re reading a lot right now lol, but the one I’m using to show grammar examples/discuss is book four of the Critter Club. This is a book she’s able to read independently and comprehends. It’s been a long journey to get to a point where this was possible. She’s worked really hard and has come so far with her reading fluency and comprehension. Phonics is hard for her, but she’s broken through that wall and is thriving!!

@@simplylearningtogether651 we are currently reading a lot lol. I am reading aloud the Secret Garden because we just watched the newest version of that movie. I personally think the one from the 90s is better. We are also listening to book one of Book Scavenger. My daughter is reading book four of Critter Club and that is what we are using for narration, dictation, and copy work. And last night she decided on a whim that she also wants to have her own book to read at night, so she’s reading book one of Greetings from Somewhere.

@@brittany.powell oh that’s so exciting!! We looovvveee The Secret Garden! I read it aloud a couple years ago and my oldest is re-reading it right now! I completely agree with you. The 90s movie is way better!! 😉

Thank you so much for sharing! My oldest is in Gr.2 this year so I'm hoping to start this diy language arts next year with her when she's reading better. Your videos make it seem so doable and easy and (hopefully) fun for the kids so I'm looking forward to trying it😊 I never would have thought of doing this on my own so I'm glad I found your videos!

I’m so glad to hear that! I’m hoping to do it with my second daughter as well when she’s reading better. It’s just so fun. And we’ve simplified it a lot. Just feels more like a book club then school work! ❤️ hope you guys enjoy it just as much!

This is so funny. I just switched to doing language arts without an all in one. And I wanted to search your channel this morning for some more ideas and then this video popped up. Perfect timing! Thank you.
