Here we present a match-up, between Brian Wroolie and Bob Mangels from the 8-Ball (Silver Division) of the BCA Pool League World Championship 2023, staged at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada
Let's goo Brian, just saw this while searching for BCA. It was the 5th video down lol
Hey Roy! Please like it and share it, let’s get it up to 4th!!!
Amazing quality - what camera do you use for this?
Hey Lee - thanks for the comment. This was shot with the DJI Osmo Pocket... a phenomenal little camera that packs a punch, capturing really clean 4K video in "D-log Cinelike" which allows for the application of LUT's to boost the highlights and shadows and saves the video in .mov format, with less compression than the more recent Osmo Pocket 2, which only writes .MP4 files and so isn't as clear. I've since invested in the Obsbot Tail Air camera which is superior in that it allows live-streaming and wireless set-up, which is a real bonus. Compare this video with some of my more recent Livestreams and let me know what you think. All the best, Mike
Like watching a flower grow!
R there both handicap 4
Thanks for the question. At the annual BCA World Pool League Championships in Las Vegas, players are split into one of 4 divisions; Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The Platinum Division in 2023, were players with a Fargo of 600 and over. Gold was 550-599, Silver was 500-549 and Bronze were players 499 and below.
Brian pulled it out...c u f'ers in Vegas soon enough!
Why do they take so long to ponder every ball on every shot ? If they assume any talent , it should be mapped out as soon as the rack is broke .
There's no shot clock at these events, except for the pros playing on the TV tables, so people can pretty much take as long as they like. Also there was really quite a lot of prize money at stake... I played in the 8-Ball Gold Division and first place prize was $10,000, so you can understand players taking their time and trying to think everything though and not make an error...
Just checked and the Silver Division was also ten grand to the winner... as it happens the winner of this match only needed 3 more wins to reach the final elimination bracket and guaranteed prize money, with a further 4 matches needed to take the first prize.
Do you play pool? I don’t think anyone is the world has the whole rack mapped out as soon as the rack is broke. Especially in bar box 8 ball.
This league is such BS. I started playing a couple months ago. went up against a few very low 400 rated players who did a break and run a few times. I later found out they only play low rated players to keep.there fargo down to play like a beast in vegas. Sand bagging axx people like that made me not play that league anymore. I quit that league.
I’m sorry you had that experience- guess they’ll always be some who want to try and play the system and try to sandbag and lower their Fargo scores. Once in Vegas and playing for big money if they suddenly improve and demonstrate a dramatically higher standard their Fargo rate can be adjusted or they can even be disqualified from the tournament.
