I saw this musical in Memphis for my birthday this year, it was by far the best gift i could have ever gotten from my mom. I highly recommend it to anyone interested. I loved it so much I’m traveling to New Orleans 2024 to see it again.
My Girl is my Nana (Maternal Grandmother)'s song for me! She used to rock me on her lap in a chair when I was a little girl and sing My Girl to me all the time! When Otis Williams said that song is his favorite Temptations song, it brought tears of joy to my eyes! What a beautiful perfect song for any girl!
I had the pleasure of attending this musical last week, and let me just say it was everything I knew it would be. The musical hands down exceeded my expectations. If you can, run, don't walk, and see this musical. You will not be disappointed 🎉❤🎉
These Guys are awesome! So thankful they are keeping the legacy of the greatness of the awesome Temptations going! Grew up during that time. Their voices and moves are great. Wish I could see them! Wishing them the best! 🙌🏼
Mr. Otis is from the same place my Father was from... Texarkana, Texas!! My Dad wasn't a Temptation but he was just as big a star in my family's eyes as Mr. Otis Williams and The Temptations were!! R.I.P Dad.
Saw it's initial run in San Francisco, pre-Broadway, and let me tell you ... if that was pre-Broadway, I'm going to have to see it again whether I have to get on a plane to see it in NYC on Broadway or see it in Detroit to then visit Motown's tine Hitsville USA studio.
BALL OF CONFUSION....That's What the world is today!!! Classic then.. A wake up call today in 2019!!! These men were way ahead of their time!!! I could relate to the Temptations back then and I. definatly relate to them now (2019)..Everybody should listen to what they were saying!!! The music was awsome...the message was timeless!!...That's what the world is today...and the band played on!!!.. Thanks Sunday Morning!! This is the Sunday Morning I remember and love and cherish!!! Keep on doing this!! And I'll keep watching..I like it!!! 💘
What a gorgeous tribute to one of our countries greatest groups. I LOVE the Temptations, wow it takes me back. I feel their music deep in my heart when I hear it. All I need is to hear the intro notes of any of their songs and off I go. Their style, grace, and class always impressed me and still does. Great Job!!
I saw it tonight in Atlanta at the Fabulous Fox Theater and the cast of the fellas who played the Temps were different but they were PHENOMENAL! Sensational! I laughed. Sang and danced! Bravo 👏🏾
I saw this on tour last year, it was amazing! I only ended up going because a family friend had to cancel on short notice, but it was so much better than I could have imagined. Definitely one of my favorite shows.
Saint Aubin??? I work with his dad! He arranged for us to meet him after the show. It was wonderful. Took a great picture with him. Loved the show so much!!! ❤
For those who need any further explanation, black people is this gorgeous for all of us, here's the prove how can we feel just fine together, no need to allow vicious prejudices ruin our lives, not at all, it's a lifetime we love these tracks
Thank you for this. It's nostalgia reborn and the show is so entertaining and really informative. When we were all enjoying the music, whoever thought about what their personal lives were like. The cast really did deserve that Tony Award they won tonight. The choreography was next level. The Temps bested them vocally, but the cast bested the Temps with their showmanship. These young men have a great deal to be proud of! They are taking the Temps into the future!
I absolutely love the Temptations. My parents taught me well 😂. I know it’s a show and they need to up the tempo and everything, but this isn’t really Temptations music. They change it up a little too much for me. I do absolutely love them. Now....everyone is going to see Otis, huh?
Jawan Jackson, James Hartness, and Jeremy Pope were some of the best choices for Blue, Paul (my favorite temp), and Eddie. Derrick Baskin as well had Otis’ softness.
We have seen the Tina Turner story musical in Birmingham (pronounced Birmingam by the way) UK and The Motown Story musical in London ( apologies, forgot the proper titles) and they were brilliant. Looking forward to the Temptations story coming over here. We had the Temptations story serialised for TV, on DVD where we learnt about the tragic / evil (?) David Ruffin, but lent it to a friend and never got it back. You can always tell which character was consulted for the story line! Rock on guys!
The choreography is awesome, but somehow it feels off. When they dance, they come across as black people imitating black people dancing. The Temps had a lot of swag when they danced, there were no corny moments. The Temps could lay steps out, and they did a lot without doing a lot. Some of these steps come across as a bit, yipee-yah-oish. A black choreographer should know better. We have to get back to passing our culture down properly including dance. We should never look like cheap imitations of ourselves.
I totally agree and I'm a 71 yr old white man, who loved the Temptations, but only the original 5, plus a little Dennis. I saw them perform live three times in Cleveland area, back in the late 60's. When I first saw the Tony award videos and this, I thought, it's too over the top, doesn't represent the Temps choreography and i wondered if i was alone, so i was glad to read this. Also, if i was doing a Temptations musical, or video, where is the most famous move of all, the Temptations walk? I hope its in the Broadway show, if not they missed their most iconic move. The movie Temptations captured the "dance moves" better, but even those were too perfect.
I agree, there's definitely something off. Things seem more robotic and speedy in choreography these days. The fellas are doing great, yes, but to say they are just as good as the original Tempts is a long shot. I wish it weren't true, but there will never be another group like the Temptations!!
The choreographer was a Hispanic guy that treated the movements like it was a menudo show, the only other thing that was just as bad was that thing they called singing.🤣🤣🤣😂😂
@@patsvideos4471 yesss! I wish people would stop saying that Paul took his life! Don’t disrespect the love of my life like that! And tell me about David. I don’t think I know too much about his death
This is not a tribute to the Temptations. You have to do more than sound like them. The Temptations appeared gentlemen-like--with class, impeccably dressed, and were never wild wearing head scarfs and doing slides and splits on stage. Didn't they watch the film?
They do perfectly when doing an actual performance. They were in practice and previews when this was released. Their Tony’s performance they were themselves more than they were the Temptations but go to a show, 8 a week and they do great for how demanding it is and often they do it.
Please tell me you took her? 🧐☺️ I’m upset my grandmother passed before she could see this. I’m going to have to take my grandpa just have to make sure he doesn’t try to outsing anybody 😅🙃
These guys are great but if you haven't seen the old VH1 movie about the Temps it's definitely worth a watch one of my favs.
Nothing beats the original tho 🙏
Yeah and at least in the movie they did the right dance moves

If you come to NYC, SEE THIS SHOW!!! So happy and proud of my friend's son, Saint Aubin who plays Dennis Edwards. He and the entire cast were amazing.
I saw it in New York and in Chicago 2 times in one week....SOOOO AMAZING

Saw the Temps twice in London in the early 1970s at the Hammersmith Odeon and the Royal Albert Hall. Superb on both occasions. Fantastic group.
These stories on Sunday Morning are simply outstanding. Great journalism!

They were truly a gift to the world. So sad a journey
My favorite group growing up. I still sing My Girl to my wife.
5:35 melted my heart.

I saw it last night. It's definitely worth the price! Everyone did amazing!
I'm so glad I got to see this a couple days before they shut down Broadway. When we get from under this pandemic, you must see if ypu haven't
Just saw it San Jose...Loved it...Glad they tossed the headbands from these previous shows. Loved the history, music and choreography!

So talented and handsome both the Broadway members and the original members!
I grew up with the Temps. Love them all. Best group of all times!!
Beautiful. Temptations forever.
It was the most amazing show just words cannot describe the talent!💎
This show has just come to London. Brilliant show.

We need a group like that now. Boys 2 Men was a homage.
What a legacy!

They ain't coming to see you Otis, lol. You are the king
One of the greatest show i have ever seen.
Memories of working in a record shop and playing Tamla when my supervisor was on break😂
I just wish they could put me in a time machine so I could hear the real Temptations!!!! Damn death sucks😪
I've always thought this
Just wonderful. Brings back such great memories of great times in my youth
"You could have tipped me over with a feather 🪶 before believing that we would be
on Broadway," said Otis Williams.

I mean, they dont sound as good as the real Temptations but, they dont sound bad either. No one could ever compare to David or Eddie

Nothen like the 🎥 timeless movie. The caste isn't the same.
I didn't know Otis was from Texarkana ..
Sign us up for some tics! Cant wait! When is this coming to Chi town?

There's only one David Ruffin. No one sounds like him. No one ever will.

It’s very hard to match David Ruffin‘s and Dennis Edwards voice
Nigh impossible
Possibly the best show I’ve ever seen
My God
Voices are a little rough here. See you on 12//7/19. S/B top notch by then.

Their clothes were worn during a rehearsal. Not from the actual show.
Motown made it in England first then went to the US Berry Gordy paid for My Guy to be played on Radio London
I'm from Detroit, I'm sorry, those guys don't have it. Now, the movie was good with the acting and moves. But, not this.

Wtf is he dancing like James brown this from the looks is a terrible rendition of the TEMPS
But it's Saturday morning, not Sunday?

No
No what?
Tamla Motown..when black music had class and style before the crass vulgarity and hate of Rap.
