Fun fact about this show! Every single uniform that each member is wearing in this show is different in some way than everyone elses. Whether it's different patterns on the uniform or slightly different shades of blue, every members uniform is unique!
This show was a “best of” compilation of the Beatles AND the Bluecoats. They put a lot of references, musical queues and song structure directly from previous years shows into this show.
There were 19 different Beatles songs in the show, and one of the caveats of using the Beatles music was that they couldn't mix a Lennon/McCartney tune with a Harrison tune simultaneously. This is my favorite Bluecoats show of all time. Glad you found it and were able to make a video about it!
Best DCI reactor on YT! 😊 Hey Jude wasn't the original ending for the show, but it was probably the worst kept secret in drum corps that summer that it would be by the end of the season. LOL I too am a huge Beatles fan and a few weeks before the end of the season, Bluecoats director Mike Scott filmed a video talking about a change coming to the ending. I knew what he was going to say well before he said it and I had the same reaction you did... instant emotion. Always been one of my very favorite tunes. A few days later, I was at a show and saw Hey Jude live for the first time and some people around me saw my Bluecoats alumni shirt and tried to talk to me about I must be a proud alum and I was physically unable to form words. Getting to play that tune 3 years later in the Bluecoats Alumni Corps was incredible! 😊 The movie "Something" came out that Summer as well, so between that and this, all I listened to was the Beatles for months and I wasn't a bit mad about it.
This show will always hold a special place in my heart because as a Freshman in high school, the Bluecoats stayed and rehearsed at our school, and we got to watch them. It is extraordinary to be able to see shows like this one get put together.
Watching you react to a Beatles themed show, is making me smile today! We are bracing for a hurricane right now, so marching band is postponed, so this is really hitting the spot! Love your channel Charlie!
God, this show was awesome. This show was a Beatles show! Self titled in honor of their self titled album. Their rendition of Elanor Rigby is incredible! Them compressing that "blob" of performers during the first big moment of that piece is so effective. If you're able to, use the Archive to watch their 2021 show "Lucy" as it was a continuation of their Beatles era. 2021 was a non-competitive season, but Lucy was a phenomenal show as well. SO happy you're watching this one! My mom has always loved the Beatles, and so I too grew up listening to their music. This show reminds me of my mom. Also, the Blue Stars 2018 show "The Once and Future Carpenter" reminds me of her because they use the music of The Carpenters, who my mom also loves.

Gotta hop in~~ I was on vis staff for Bloo this year and it was a lot of fun! Being on the field for finals and watching the crowd give the same energy back to the kids was unforgettable! Doug Thrower, the composer for Bloo, is a biiiiig Beatles Fan and can go into a dissertation on the Beatles at any given moment 😂. Someone said it below, but to reiterate, it’s self-titled to allude to the Beatles self-titled album. The show is a reflection of the Beatles timeline (the props and main costumes go from black and white to color like television did during the Beatles era) and also a reflection of the Bluecoats design team era (the trumpet loops and drill is 2015, they do subtle 2014 choreo in black bird, 2016/2017 choreo references in come together, there are some other 2015 choreo references sprinkled throughout, etc.) I love watching your reactions! This was a fun show! To your comment about the platforms moving under the performers, I’ve heard it’s actually kind of terrifying to be on top of one of them while they’re moving. I had a friend who marched Bluecoats 2017, and their main prop was one giant lightning bolt-shaped platform that at one point had the entire brass line playing and doing movements on it, and the entire thing would shake under their feet with every move they made. It really tripped the performers out at first. Also, WOW, that Hey, Jude prediction was CRAZY, dude lol. Has anyone recommended Cavaliers 2002 yet? I think the drill will blow your mind!

Featuring one-ish artist in a show is a lot more common than you think, but you'd definitely have to be in the know sometimes. Carolina Crown did this in a few shows you've already watched, 2012 featured a couple movements from Bertrand Moren's "Dreams" in-between the Copland features, 2015 started and ended on Beethoven's 9th. It's hard to string together a collection of pieces by a single artist without sounding like you're just playing an album/symphony/concerto/etc, but done effectively like the Bluecoats did here, magic can occur on the field.
Charlie, I’m sorry I’m commenting so much! Haha, but you HAVE to check out some of the High School Marching Bands, any of the Top 12 from any year! Did you know when you heard the Choir on Temple Square, that it's the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We have been members since 1977. It changed our lives.
First off. Your shirt is awesome, what brand is that? Second, you should start looking into the world of Indoor Percussion. It's this, on a smaller scale focusing on just the percussionist. Surprisingly, very good 👏👏👏 Your reactions are amazing.🥰 Please react to Gabriel Henrique's new duet with Chilean singer Kevin Vásquez singing Love In The Dark (Spanish version) by Adele posted on Kevin&Karla's official RUclips channel.
Charlie, Charlie, Charlie... The intro for Beatle concerts was simply, "Ladies and Gentlemen, The Beatles." Thus, the intro for this Bluecoats show was simply, "Ladies and Gentlemen, The Bluecoats." At the end of every Beatles show, the Fab Four bowed to the audience. Thus... There have been three all-Beatles show in DCI history... all by the Bluecoats. Charlie, you need to relax and let a drum corps show roll over you and take you into it before you start analyzing it.
I can't promise I can do that. My brain feeds me information at a million mph and in 40 years I haven't figured out how to slow or quieten it haha. It analyses whether I want it to or not 😂

How come no one has suggested a single Cadets show is beyond me...
w/r/t to the theme: Get there faster! 😂
thats cool they got a baritone player playing drums. as an alum of BD i love them ....buuuuuuut Bloo should have won that year
He is insane. Maxx killed it every time.
If you decide to react to something else from the Bluecoats, I’d highly suggest their 2016 show “Downside Up.” It was their first ever year that they won first place and is my personal favorite show they’ve done which says a lot given how amazing all their other shows are.
They named the show “The Bluecoats” as a self titled show similar to the Beatles self titled “The Beatles” album.
Fun fact about this show, the members were apparently asked to grow out their hair to resemble the Beatles
You should branch out to WGI too!!!! Indoor percussion!!! Music City Mystique, Rhythm X, etc.
You need to get onto Star of Indiana 1993, the birth of modern drum corps! And if you are brave enough 1991 as well!
Oh wait till you see the 2021 show
Did you know when you heard the Choir on Temple Square, that it's the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
We have been members since 1977.
It changed our lives.
watch PHANTOM REGIMENT 2010
🔥🔥
Wait until he finds out about Lucy lol
First off. Your shirt is awesome, what brand is that? Second, you should start looking into the world of Indoor Percussion. It's this, on a smaller scale focusing on just the percussionist. I highly recommend "Pulse Percussion 2017" it's a Haunted House/Possession style show. I think you would find it super interesting!
You kept saying how unusual it was for a show to be just one artist. Well…. There are MULTIPLE shows through the decades that are just one song haha.
Surprisingly, very good 👏👏👏
Your reactions are amazing.🥰 Please react to Gabriel Henrique's new duet with Chilean singer Kevin Vásquez singing Love In The Dark (Spanish version) by Adele posted on Kevin&Karla's official RUclips channel.
You should watch the US Marines Drum and Bugle Corps 2024 show
They could’ve done The Blue Album lol
Can you do 2017 blue devils
An excellent watch

Coats got ROBBED that year. So stupid.

Hey, you got to react to the 2017 Blue Devil’s show, Metamorph
react to blue devil 2017
It analyses whether I want it to or not 😂
To this day this shouldn’t have placed 2nd 😫
