The Old Fashioned is true to the cocktail definition; spirits, bitters, water & sugar. Usually recipes call for a Bourbon or Rye Whiskey but today we’ve used a Hybrid Whiskey - essentially a Bourbon & Scotch blend. Personally I like the sweet spiciness from using a rye whiskey yet this is a good tweak on the classic nonetheless.
INGREDIENTS
60mL Bourbon Whiskey
10mL Sugar Syrup (2:1)
2 dashes of Angostura Bitters
HOW TO
1. Fill a mixing glass with ice
2. Add ingredients to the mixing glass
3. Stir for 25 seconds or until adequately diluted
4. Strain over fresh ice into a double old fashioned glass
5. Garnish with a twist of orange peel
NOTES
The original recipe calls for a sugar cube, soaked in bitters and muddled before adding the ice and whiskey.
Being a bartender on wall street, i would put a chunk of sugar, 4 drops bitter, a dash of club soda, smash everything, add ice and put 2 oz of bourbon, stir the drink with a bar spoon... rub the orange peel around the rim of glass, and put the orange peel on toothpick on top of drink.
I like watching you, you remind me of the guy behind the counter at a an inn in Skyrim.
Bro I just had a flashhhhhback reading that!!!!
The Winking Skeever?
I used to be a bartender like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee.
I found the old fashioned video! I like to add a dash of orange bitters occasionally takes it up a notch. Nice video!

My favorite 🥃😋
Poor guy...in the morning!
Cheers!
Can I also include angostura orange bitter?
yes, of course
What’s the difference between an old fashioned and a manhattan? Genuinely curious
Old fashioned = whiskey, sugar, bitters served on ice
Manhattan = whiskey, sweet vermouth, bitters, stirred with ice and served up
@@StevetheBartender_ A Manhattan is also typically served with a cocktail cherry.
Correct 👍
Does it have to be strained? Seems unnecessary.
Just a dumb question, i don't really like the sound of "Bitter" we got the stuff, have not had the pleasure of needing it yet, we love to Make Whiskey Sours, but now want to try an Old Fashion, are bitters.....really BITTER ? there is this Whiskey made by a company called Screwball Whiskey... they've blended it with.... Peanut Butter...and a drink they suggest, An Old Fashion... gonna try it.
They are not, while bitters do taste a little bitter if you taste it on their own (which you typically don't), nearly no cocktails that use bitters actually taste bitter at all, only having the aromatics. That is also why only a few dashes is required
Hey Steve, what simple syrup do you use?
Just make it myself (1:1)..

Is that a siren I hear in the background Steve?
I film at my warehouse... the next door neighbour often reverses his truck in too so there’s all kinds of background noises 🤣
Wow you have come a long way from this! Lol

Was that a twist of lemon or a twist of orange?
Orange 🍊
The old fashioned has to be the most bastardized cocktail in history. If you watch 20 videos on how to make one, you’ll see 20 different people using 20 different recipes. I never order one when I go out because I have no idea what I’ll get.
lovely recipe you've earned a subscriber Steve
Thanks Donovan! Plenty more recipes to come ;)
Cheers :-)
I'm so glad you don't use this type of music anymore.
Wow you need a new old fashioned video 😂
Lol, this is one of my cringey vids from the early days!
@@StevetheBartender_ my Knob Creek Rye old fashioned was still delicious 😂
old my gosh! He used to be skinny... He's much cuter now, Steve the bear.
😔
Wrong!!!!! Get the ice correct first.....one large piece so it doesn't water down the flavor....i can tell a crappy old fashioned the second it has several ice cubes in it.
🤦♂️
