"Dont just throw it aimlessly" *hits the basket* hahaha great video
Brennan Kenny I know right! Lol I lost it when I saw that.
Brennan Kenny 👍🏼😂👍🏼
I was thinking the same thing! He hits the basket, with an aimlessly throw, then shows the correct way to throw, with correct mechanics and misses completely.
1:55 if you were looking for it like me :)
@@derekwhipps8406 It hit the protective net behind the basket
Approach shots are a really important part of the game and totally underrepresented on youtube. I keep coming back to this video as I improve different parts of my game. Thanks Uli, thanks Infinite.
uli is a very good teacher, he didn't just go on and on like some other pros.
Yeah.. Ricky is not a good teacher 😁
I am 66 years old and have been away from disc golf for about 15 years and I am now retired and back into it. In trying to correct the past years of many bad technics and habits and over the last 5 days watching dozens of You Tube videos to get back in the groove this approach video was the first video where I have found immediate improvements in following Paul Ulibarri’s guidance...thank you for your time Mr. Ulibarri!
If GTA had a discgolf minigame, 5:40 is what the character idling would look like
I watched this video and it has really helped me improve my game! I birdied a hole yesterday from 115 feet! I couldn't believe it! Thank you for taking time to help others improve and teaching in a way that's understandable!
love how the first shot where he was trying to show how not to do it, nearly went in :) I have watched this so many times as a reminder. Paul is one of the best natural teachers of disc golf
He's a great teacher. I'd love to take a full class by him.
I never knew about keeping the nose up in the approach but it makes total sense after seeing all the pro's upshorts and how beautifully they shape and float towards the basket without cruising past it.
This dude is a straight up teacher: "I do, we do, you do". There's a reason this is a classic- the best players do not always make the best teachers but the best player can sometimes be a great teacher.
100% the most professional, well spoken clinic I have watched. I know he may not be as "good" as some of the other players, but I would watch his videos over any others hands down. Great job Uli!
5 year old video, but the advice holds true.... “wrist above and follow through”. Thanks Uli ! 😎
Awesome advice Paul! You and Big Jerm keep me in stitches during your practice rounds!
Did he really tag the basket at 2:00 with that demonstration of a nasty shot?! hahahah
I was just going to comment on that. He's talking about throwing aimlessly, but he's so good that the just just hits the basket anyway.
literally an inch from going in.
"Just as good." More like better. Inches away instead of feet away.
I usually just throw a hyzer when approaching like the he did first
his best shot was the one to NOT do
This seriously transformed my upshots. Thank you! I was getting so tired of roasting discs past the basket, and this was such a quick and easy fix.
Excellent tips for good approach shots. Nose up, wrist above elbow, follow through
Thanks for this tutorial. I'm a newbie and I still haven't played my first round yet. I find this very helpful when I do field work. Yesterday I actually threw my Buzzz into the basket at approximately 46ft (Udisc measure throw). Today I did it again with a Roc3 in a bit closer range approximately 45 yo 46ft.
The points he made about follow through really helped me out
Just got into disc golf and I've watched a ton of RUclips about how to throw farther. Still cant throw any further. I should have watched this sooner to get better. This was so helpful
Excellent tips and demonstrations.
Paul is natural coach, good communicator
This video changed my approach game for the better.
I, too, love the idea of playing catch prior to play.
Really top notch tips, thanks Paul.
Square up and keep the disc above your elbow. I need to practice that. Thanks Uli!
I tried this connected position today and it really works for me.
a place with go-carts and disc golf.. legendary!
This is perfect. These shots just feel awkward but this seems solid.
ULI is the man. W2G Coach ULI.
Toad's! I wasn't expecting to come across my home town on a RUclips disc video.
I love the formula: nose up, wrist above elbow, and follow through. I also am curious, those of you who do warm-up playing catch, what are you playing with? Just your putters, or do you pack around an ultimate disc?
You could use your putters or an ultimate disc. But I use a Innova Condor to play catch with a friend. It's got the slow gliding flight you want out of a catch disc (so you're not going to hurt each other using it), and it feels like a disc you would throw on the course.
I use an Esp Flx Buzzz. I think the same plastic in a putter would maybe be better in general, but I use a Z plastic Buzzz for my mid-range drives and the Flx for longer approach shots because its a bit more understable and after a little wear seems to fly great at low speeds, so the Esp Flx has a nice place in my bag.
I wish I could look as sharp as Paul.
Fuck that basket hit from his “aimless throw” was so fucking funny 😂👍🏻
This is going to help me a lot. I can already tell. I seem to hyzer and make too much out of it.
2:33 wtf is wrong with that kid's gocart?
Nate1185 ahahahahhahahaha
goddam, i read this comment before i got that far into the vid, and became so excited to see what you were talking about, then when i saw it, i bout peed my pants from laughing so hard Lmfao
Nate1185 lmfao
lol, the ultimate distraction
Nate1185 LMAO👍🏼🤣👍🏼 didn’t notice! Check him out 1:53 behind cage
I'm going to have to work on keeping my wrist above the elbow. I feel like I'm either trying to drive it or putt if no matter what distance. Time to get out an practice.
Thank you.
1st shot says "I'm not going to just be going like this" then hits the pole 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Paul
@ 4:36 that's definitely Eagle McMahon
Hahahaha "undercover"
Thought the exact same thing lol
throwing it aimlessly... *clank*!!
Paul encouraged me to play catch. It may not seem like much, but I never play catch, and can really see the value in this context.
+Dave Bartel It helps a lot with accuracy, and you don't have to run around chasing discs. A good catch partner is great.
I agree completely here with Uli. I know that I can shoot bogey-free any day with my upshot game on point. I am interested in keeping my wrist above my elbow to force the nose up. I've missed out on some great opportunities because of my putter not getting enough glide when I'm within 100ft.
Hey keeping wrist above your elbow will result in anhyzer
Follow through!
Shaved a ton of strokes off my game. More than any other video.
Time to go out in the cold and practice.
So this is why my straight approach shots are not consistent and my “patent pending” stance approaches are on point. My patent pending naturally forces my elbow down
How can you know if you are trowing the disc good
Who else watched the wysocki sidearm clinic before this video and then realized that was the group to the right in this video haha!
+Syfiewow Check again, I think you will find that it was in fact the Schusterick backhand driving clinic.
I don’t think so, but that video is worth watching multiple times.
I just watched the other video and I think it is the same group as Wysocki’s but a different instructor. Wysocki’s class was close to the golf driving range cages and the group shown behind Ulibarri is much further out in the field. I suspect at that location several of the pros were set up to do classes with several groups and they rotated between classes.
I was taught by a little league coach that follow through is the most important thing whether it's anything in life if you don't follow through then you didn't do it right
He was right that's for sure
1:55 bangs the pole👍🏼😂👍🏼
Hits the net behind the basket
Says to square up your shoulders but has everyone throw with their shoulders in line to the pin? 🤨
where is this?
For a bushwacker outside of 30ft, Paul's pretty good.
4:23 Just turns the dudes shoulders for him and gives him the straightest shot lol
1:16 - 3:00
Great info, but I disagree on turning the nose up. The conditions, type of disc, and shot all affect how I tilt my disc. I do turn it up a tad on a calm day but not as a rule.
Only works for short putter shots. For drivers and mids they have to be flat/nose down.
3:50 He forgot to square up
Yep. His shoulders we're pointed to the right, and he threw it right!!!!
Wow
It's like he's some healer curing them with the shoulder squaring he does to some of the players xd "OH LAWD HEAL THESE PEOPLE"
Has nobody noticed that his demo “bad” approach shot freaking hits the base??
4:47 haha that's a funny guy
1:20 hottie walkin' across the field!!!
His first shot how not to do it , hits the basket lmao, second how to over shot the basket lol
Imagine he takes the discs and runs away 0:28
Farmer blow guy walking by in the beginning
Have you checked this epic Paul Ulibarri highlight reel?
ruclips.net/video/I1jUI5-D4GE/видео.html
3:31 rofl
Flatbrim
I spent years fighting nose up.
Did he even throw with a xstep back then? Lol
No hate, this video actually helped me a lot when I was younger
This guy recording is breathing awfully loud 😅
This is not 150 feet for sure, max 100 feet.
he said 100 ft...
