I remember a rom hack planned to have this item but was removed in development due to being way to over powered. Its a choice band and specs in 1 minus the move locking all for being uninvolved.
I like how Jynx got kicked out of the "elemental punch trio". She can no longer viably use ice punch, she didn't get an evolution like her brothers wich means she is locked out of using eviolite. Jynx life was ruined and a lot of doors closed for her just for being the way she is lmfao.
I'm pleased to see any gen1 mons able to participate in the meta. Even down in the RU etc tiers, they can struggle terribly because there's been multiple stages of egregious power creep. VGC (as I understand it) is enjoying a lower power level without the most monstrous of monsters ruling the roost, and it's nice to see the lesser used mons up there.
The likely reason why so few people experimented with Follow Me magmar in Gen IV and Gen V was that you had to play through the relatively rare Pokemon XD and get near the endgame to get it. Follow me Magmar and especially Eruption Heatran are likely responsible for only allowing native pokemon into Gen VI and VII VGC.
@@NOTSuspicousgatito fair, but my counter argument is that Magnortar could be Fire/Steel. They both need buffs and good secondary typings fit that bill.
@@NOTSuspicousgatitothat is NOT a rule. Escavalier and Accelgor and counterpart and Escavalier is dual type, heracross is dual type but pinsir isn't, Glalie is single type but frosslass isn't, and many many others. Electivire could be Electric/Fighting and Magmortar can be just Fire
I’m thankful Magmortar and Electrivire were supportive enough dads even if they are not as competitively viable. They have done great to raise the defensive goats of VGC
Thank you so much for attending my presentation about the Unevolved Pokemon that Took Over VGC, and first lets talk about their traits. (Also I hope people enjoy this thing I do lol)
I absolutely agree with the Electabuzz, it pairs extremely well with Kommo-o to form probably one of the strongest duos (in my opinion) in the entire format
A lot of gen4 old gen new evos uniquely had pros and cons compared to their former final forms, IE less speed or bulk (magnezone and porygon Z respectively). And then they threw that out the window and made the 2 Ursalunas
Sinnoh introduced many 3rd stage evos to previous gens pokemon. Its funny seeing how most of these evos result in the 2nd stage success thanks to the Eviolite. Dusclops, Electabuzz & Magmar, Porygon2,…
I feel like Electabuzz has more potential; Regulation H seems starved for Electric-types, & Archaludon's Electro Shot in rain only sort of counts. Magmar has to compete with Incineroar for supportive Fire-type slot. Regulation H is ending soon, & we've seen Electabuzz get useage in Restricted formats. Will it again?
If anything, this just goes yo show how strong redirection is. Even Clefairy proves to be usable thanks to Follow Me. I really dislike how Pokemon have to subvert their lore and design just to be usable. These guys are usually portrayed as being brutish and tough but here they are only reliable as counterplay support.
I kind of like how it shows they need to adapt and fight a bit smarter to handle the bigger bads in the format, considering they're just middle stage mons. I do wish their final stage evos were more viable as brutes played straight, though. Having more basic and defensive Abilities hinders those guys far more on account of lower Speed and no Eviolite.
I remember when I first saw Eviolite after I got Pokemon Black, I immediately Yipped like a damn lapdog...because I was just such a huge fan of the Porygon family at the time. And holy shit did eviolite turn Porygon 2 into a monster for a while.

Eviolite is a heck of a drug.
It'd be cool if we had an Eviolite equivalent for attacking stats tbh

Love how these mons are rivals in the lore AND rivals in VGC, covering similar roles as a redirector.
rip Dusknoir Eviolite killed their career before it even started
landorus claws wrote this post, stand still and face the ice punch
electabuzz is also the best at one particular thing: it destroys your ears with its cry before gen 6
Electabuzz did actually win a regional, in the hands of Federico Camporesi at the Gdańsk regional championships

Love the pattern of "middle evolutions in a monotype line that outclasses its evolution it got in a later gen because of eviolite"
Imagine being a NFE that outclasses its Fully Evolved from, Lookin at you Electivire and your yee yee ass viability
Game Freak has an aversion to Electric/Fighting types. Electivire, Zapdos-G, and Zeraora all could be Electric/Fighting and they aren’t.
@@piratebear3126electivire is a counterpart to magmortar so if magmorter iş single typed electivire is too

It makes me sad that Lucario didn't get Follow Me back. Riolu having access to it + prankster coaching would've been awesome.
Gotta love how some Gen 1 Pokémon can still hold up with some investment with the new gens

These stats, while not anything insane, are actually pretty nice
This is of course, because of the Eviolite item
I always love your clipart

The real nail in the coffin for electivire and magmortar is that they’re slower than their pre-evolved forms. Like what the hell game freak

Tbf that's my face when amoongus does stuff to me, too
Where do you get those puppet images?
Electivire and Magmortar need buffs or mega evos.
I know Electivire why sucks but why Magmortar does ?
Poor coverage & poor speed (especially by modern standards)
just generally better fire types to use.
