- How to create backing for a large patch using scrap wood. You can frame around the entire patch if you need the extra support. We used 2' x 4' wood but you can use any scrap wood. Make sure when you are patching you use the correct drywall board - either 1/2" or 5/8".

Thank you!
Just found ur videos and subscribed!!! :)
A lot of RUclipsrs do the regular square repair. It would be nice to see an inside corner repair! I had a plumber come through and cut out big patches in the corner of my bathroom and don’t know how to add the correct wood backing and how to fix the corner appropriately? Do I use a corner bead product for inside corners? Thanks!
Maybe you’ll touch on it in your next video, but I’m curious what the metal backing pieces are in the hole on the right? I have a tight ceiling to repair and not sure I’d have the depth for wood backing.
Thanks for the content, excited to try my hand at some more drywall work after learning all these tips.
Those metal backing pieces can be used if u can’t use wood backing. Looks like u might want to try this product.
Thank you! I was struggling to find what they’re called but I think I found them, “ Drywall Repair Clips”.
Yep! I have a video for next week about those clips. You can find them at Home Depot, etc... they are called drywall repair clips.
Can you go over how you handle the trowel and where you apply the pressure for each sweep?
The one and only Stud muffin. ❤
I thought that more screws would be needed for a stable patch. Are the screws just holding the patch in place and the strength comes from the tape and compound?
J'adore..j'aime se savoir faire et ces explications merci
Can you do a video on repair knock down texture on a ceiling? Also light orange peel on walls?
Awesome!! Thank you!
Thank you!
Gracias por compartir
👍thanks for the video ✌
Would you ever consider using a “California patch” on something this large?
I personally would not , something that big needs some kind of backing
Can you bevel the edges and sink in the patch for a perfectly flat finish?
Sure can!
Very informative
Thank you!
2x4? Why not 1x4 or plywood?
You can absolutely do that, it's just what we hand on hand
❤
Nobody patches like this. You need to cut the 2x4's longer than the opening.
It was more for a visual example so people could see what it looks like, how the wood goes on etc… you can absolutely picture frame the entire spot.
I agree. Also, I prefer using 1/2" OSB to back patches. Many times there isnt room for a 2x4. Appreciate you Shorty!
You lost me at mesh tape. That shit sucks unless youre doing actual plaster
❤
