  • The hills are alive with the sound of proud! Uh-huh, say it again: N-B-C! Here's a proud Thanksgiving treat not uploaded on Thanksgiving because I refuse to wait that long. From November 27, 1980 via KARK 4 in Little Rock, here are commercials and promos that aired during NBC's second broadcast of the 1965 classic musical "The Sound of Music!
Taken from right smack dab in the middle of NBC's dark ages, look out for promos from the likes of "Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters" and "Number 96"! And all in quality you have to SEE to believe, this might as well be the best-looking 1980 VHS recording online. I don't usually toot my horn like that, but I have stuff from 2014 that looks way worse than this so
    I own nothing

I love old commercials like this i don't care if they are not from my city. I just love escaping these troubled times. And go back in time for a short while.❤

Man, this is beautiful, and a rarer market to boot! Priceless early Walmart commercial too - from when the chain was still mainly concentrated in Arkansas and Missouri.

I arrived home from college for Thanksgiving break in the last ten minutes of the broadcast. To this day, the movie is inextricably linked to the holiday evening for me. The beautiful archways in the dark cemetery set merged with my memories of a nighttime arrival at home. Even though I'd seen the movie years earlier during its broadcast premiere, this sliver of the ending was even more memorable.

17:10 Bonnie Herman, one of the all-time great jingle singers.
21:40 The unmistakable voice of Casey Kasem.
22:46 This Zales jingle might also be Bonnie Herman.

That song, Edelweiss would gain infamy when it is sung in the intro of The Man In The High Castle.

Do you have any more Little Rock TV station commercial breaks from this time period?

the fact I even have this is a miracle in of itself. I think I might have some KTHV from 1985 but that's pretty much it in terms of Little Rock

    Not bad quality for 1980.
