They really should've handled it better. In Raging Blast we had something where the single player version of stages had obstacles, while the multiplayer stages removed those obstacles. They could've done something similar for Sparking Zero. For instance: The wasteland stage in multiplayer could've removed all the mountains and just have grass, or the city could've moved all the buildings to the background while you fight in the outskirts part of the city. Basically, design a separate version of each stage that suits local multiplayer so not every match would just be the boring Time Chamber stage each time.
It is a shame to get the most boring BT stage for offline multi-play, but at least we will still have the option for it over keeping it as online only.

I hope 5 vs 5 online is included as well. The way they stated "fight your way to become a various tournament modes and victory conditions" makes wonder if the Tournament of Power will be a battle royale up to 8 players going at it.
So I still couldn’t verify the French interview but it kind of lines up with the performance thing. Hyperbolic would be the only stage with minimum destruction and effects. Xenoverse was the same way if you wanted to play local you only had the tournament stage as an option last I recall.
i got mixed feelings. On one hand it's great to have local coop, but having it as a half assed addition like in Xenoverse 2 is a bitter pill. PS5 and Series X can handle split screen in games that are far more demanding than fighting games. For instance, Borderlands 3 with its massive maps, all the details and tons of enemies.

The “you have to render things twice” excuse is bs for fighting games. You don’t have to render things twice with an adaptive shared/split screen like many fighting games have been doing for YEARS. Essentially if the combatants are close enough to each other, you have a shared screen and don’t need split. If you get far enough away, then it splits, which at that point you are rendering different things. Only time this argument applies is first/third person shooters where each player has a dedicated pov. The truth is they put zero thought into this when it should have been a consideration from day 1. They added it as an afterthought because the priority was selling a copy of the game per person. They don’t give a crap about local play.
Using the term “co-op” makes a-lot of people think that you can play “cooperatively”. On the same team. Saying this game has “couch co-op” is miss leading.
I’m not trying to sound ungrateful but that whole it can’t run well on console excuse is bullshit. They are lazy and can definitely get it to work. Watch them try to sell a patch so ppl can play local together

or here is whats likely the truth. games have become more demaning and split screen requires more resources which becomes impossible unless you turn down the specs of the game. older games required less resources. note how easy it was to emulate ps1 and n64 games in the early 00s vs taking several years until around 2010s before ps2 emulation was possible and so on. people think more powerful system equals they can do it. yea if they were using the same graphical specs of old.

Studios have more money than ever, the consoles have more power than ever, games are bigger than ever, yet, somehow, NOBODY is making the effort to make their AAA offerings a satisfactory splitscreen experience. How is it that these 20 year old consoles with potato specs can run their biggest games competently in splitscreen, yet our current-gen, high-spec consoles "aren't powerful enough for a full experience in local mp"?
These companies need to get their priorities straight. I don't give a damn about the graphically intensive visuals if they're going to get in the way of quality multiplayer. I'm not saying the old consoles ran splitscreen all that great all the time, but, even when it was rough, they still made it work. The new consoles should have more than enough resources to accommodate splitscreen, provided they make some moderate visual concessions. If they can't do that, then they should stop maxing out the visuals across the board.

So you won't be able to fuse to Gogeta or Vegeto during a match fighting your friend like with the old Budokai Tenkaichi series. I hope they fix it where you can pick at least two fighters per match.

Budokai and Tankaichi already on Ps2 had a greeeat difference. Always prefered budokai for local play, sparking seems fun for a 2 monitor local, the whole 3d gameplay confined to half screen is not optimal, it is what it is....

my friends have online and Ill be playing with them via online. Since I got into online games in 2010, I prefer playing online vs split screen.
