I live in a small apprtment with two working line german shepherds. GSD‘s would happily live woth you in a cardboard box as long as they are with you. As long as they have enough excercise, they don‘t mind
i'm researching on the breed and live in an apartment how much exercice do a pet/show line need and how do german shepherds generally behave indoors when exerciced enough
@@kerobady5968 I've a small to medium side house with two roof or terrace 600 sqft each ( one 1st and another 2nd floor roof) but not having any fenced yard. And i go for daily exercise like 7-8km run and walk away from my house and also exercise, early morning, do you think a gsd can adapt well with my lifestyle?
Wow, your house is even tinier than our apartment :) You're lucky to have that little backyard. I just remembered that before we got Rancho, I read somewhere that Belgian Shepherds will prefer to live with you in a one-room apartment rather than being alone in a huge yard. I'm sure the same goes for GSDs :) Lucy looks very happy there!
Hey haha it's so little. Your so right. That's awesome how you guys live in a apartment . It's all about lifestyle hey. Rancho is very spoiled with all the adventures you guys go on 😊
Lucy is so obedient, I would love to meet her one day but this is impossible because I live so far away in Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. So, I just have to watch her on video. I send her million of kisses.
I live in an apt with my Standard Ausshole. He’s about 60 pounds and my husband and I do great. He goes out multiple times a day and when he’s inside he’s sleeping and goofing off. As long as you give them tons of stimulation mentally and or physically, your golden.
thank you so much for this, ive felt bad for my pup because we live in such a small home but now i feel better knowing its okay as long as you’re fulfilling their needs too
I live in an apartment next to the beach with my 15months German shepherd. And she is so happy :). We go for beach runs almost everyday. When I can I take her to work with me. We go for walks too. Aslong as you commit to giving your gsd the love, training, attention and exercise it needs. Your gsd will be happy even in a shed living with you. I find a house with a big yard is more convenient for the person than the actual dog. Because you need to put in the extra work in an apartment, but it’s 100% worth it ❤️.
GS are the best breed. I grew up with one and he was my dog when I was 4 years old. We were best friends for 17 years. He was so so smart. Saved me from me kidnapped with I was 6 years. He was very protective and loved me deeply. I still miss him..
woow that place is small but not with boundaries (in the sense you find a way for her to be active) I like when you said "we do everything with her" and I kinda resonate perfectly with that, since I got my puppy, I tried to do things and go to places together, to make her a real family member just like Lucy is for you guys. I also live in a small apartment and I can tell it's challenging but with patience, love and necessary mental and physical stimulation for doggy it is possible. I would like to know how do you stimulate her mentally? we do play some games with her to find the hidden treats/toys, we hide from her and shout to come and find us, what do you do?
Hey love your comment. So I do obedience training with Lucy everyday. This can be done in our lounge room, back yard or at the park. But it will be an intense session of all basic commands like heel, hip, side, down, spin, speak, middle (between my legs). I do really fast combinations of these commands and a few others. This give Lucy a sense of real work and she can unleash and do her job. Also at the park we play fetch but as she's running to get the ball I'll call drop and she will drop flat to the ground, then back to the heel while leaving her ball. Once she's done this then I let her fetch the ball. It's making her use her brain and listen to me. So we do loads of things like that as it gives her a sense of achievement. Hope this makes sense :) What type of dog do you have?
@@Lucythegermanshepherd Our doggy (1 year Cane Corso female) has every day a long free walk in the park. She loves playing with other dogs, in fact that is one of her best way to burn energy. I'm proud how she deals with different types of dogs, she is very careful to the small ones. We play tug of war, fetch sometimes but she looses interest quite fast, I see her often looking around for playing partners :D We will try and incorporate more of the basic command also when we are in the park. At home she is really calm and obedient, she sleeps a lot (on the couch obviously :D ) meaning she is quite challenged physically but I would like to engage her mentally as well. Thanks for the advice :) and wait for the next vid

Crates - interesting topic. Have you done a video expanding on the pros and cons for crate training? I have found it is recommended a lot for various reasons and prospective owners should understand the arguments for and against (if any).
Yeah hehe our house is ok and we have only tiny dogs we can only have 1 big dog and i think not 2 big dogs first we had 1 big dog but she dies 1 year back and now we have 4 tiny dogs...love your vids so much❤❤❤ i am watching this video while i'm eat❤❤❤ there is no better way to start your day
Hey we do both. If its raining she will stay inside and just chill out. She doesn't chew nor is she destructive. If its a nice day she will go out side. With leaving a dog inside by its self does take some training and patients to build that trust. Once you build that trust its awesome and takes away the stress
Okay Nayla doesn't realize what she has. Moderate house and large back yard. But I could live in a cardboard box under a bridge. After a month, this GSD no longer cares about where she is. It's all about who she is with.
Honestly this is the only negative thing about shelters I really want to adopt a dog to give it another chance at life but apparently my house is too small it's a three story House with a medium size yard ?? Perhaps it's just some European thing
We also have to consider the neighbours if you live in a flat. If you do not have the money of space do not have a dog. What happens when you are at work. What about the thoughts of the neighbours. Should you consider other people.
Or I guess I should have been more specific. "I think it would be better with either no music, or the music much much quieter." Just hoping to help out :)
Our dog behaviourist once told me the size of the house/flat doesn’t matter as long as they get enough walks and exercise outside.
