Hey, I appreciate you taking the time to comment even if it was a long time ago. I had to step away from RUclips for a bit and got a little frustrated by that, so I wasn't answering comments like I should have. Apologies for that! I'm afraid Evennight is probably not going to come back, it feels like a bit of a failure flunking out of #dungeon23 so early and I'm also a bit hazy on remembering where I was even going with this after this long of a time period not touching the topic. I did take away a lot of learnings from the building-and-playing process there though so the overall concept of worldbuilding something and then running it through a solo playtest immediately after to see where it goes narratively is very likely to come back in some shape or form.
Thank you for the time and creativity you put into these great series for us. I have really been enjoying catching up on them all ! Also I am not sure how much work might go into modifying a table top rpg system into one that is compatible with solo play but maybe with the right combination of rules you could do it ! I really want you to check out the RPG Mistborn by Crafty games, based off the Mist born series by Brandon Sanderson. This is a story driven RPG set in a dark fantasy world. I believe the system is pretty simple just using a D6 system. It would be really cool if you found some time to look into it 🙏 🙏 ⚔️
Thank you! Bit of a shame I got derailed after moving house and never managed to stick to the pace of dungeon23, would've liked to see where this one goes. Regarding Mistborn, I'm pretty sure that one's not for me. I've bounced off Brando Sando more times than I can count at this point trying a variety of series including Mistborn and I can pretty safely say it's not for me. Maybe I just need characters that swear a lot in my grimdark fantasy lol.
@killtenratsrpg hahaha . Well dang was worth a shot . I thought the magic system might make for some good content In a dark setting but don't blame you for having style preferences. Thanks for the reply 👍
What happens when you touch this chaos barrier? The executioner could be the buried hero under the statue who is now a raised zombie. Great random loot could be books which can be traded with the old lady. I really hoped there will be a puppetmaster animating/building those little porcelain horrors (with a bear trap as a mouth and extra limps)... maybe the old book lady? ;)
I'm not 100% on it yet but I feel like touching the barrier would create existential feelings of dread, discomfort and imminent doom, to the extent that willingly progressing it impossible. Throwing somebody in there from the outside of the dome probably just shatters them into atoms. Now, doing it on the inside, I think that's a different story! We'll have to see about that. As far as puppetmasters and old ladies go... I did get the vibe just off the placement and the overall weirdness of having the bookseller around that she might well be an agent of some kind. We still need the influence of the other universal forces (order, balance) to manifest, too. She might give us a decent leg-up to eventually meet someone who represents one of them and retcon it into "ya-ha-ha, I know all about you, you've met my agent!".
