- The Grizzlystik Momentum TDT arrows are tough. I used them for most of last year's hunting season. While they do have some downsides, they do have a lot of upsides as well.

Why didn't you go with day 6 arrows.small continuous diameter. I like your hunting video's.
One of the biggest challenges I've had with micro diameter arrows are that the lighted nock options are not great. Firenock is ok, but very expensive, and many of the other ones lack durability. And I'm a huge proponent of lighted nocks on hunting setups. To a lesser degree, I like how stepping up to a .204 allows you to use a HIT insert and collar so there's less chance of runout or component bending. That said, there are a couple component systems now with .166 that would allow you to do the same. Other than that though the Day6 shafts are very durable which is a big plus for them.
How do you get your broadheads orientated all the same when you glue the insert and then make the nock decide how it is rotated?
I dont worry about which direction the broadhead is oriented. All I am worried about is consistent flight, which I can achieve by turning nocks.
@@DIYSportsman Thank you for your fast reply! That's for 3-bladed I guess. Wouldn't the orientation matter more on a 2-blade? Shouldn't they be sqare to the bow?
@@antonditt1661 On a traditional bow I will orient them the same for a consistent sight picture. With a compound, I still dont pay it much mind. If you nock tune with the broadheads as a last step, you'll be factoring in any minor planing effects that could be compounding the reaction out of the bow. That said, if it builds confidence, you can orient them the same by rotating the inserts (if it's a hot melt glue). Just ensure they still spin true and hit where they're supposed to.
@@DIYSportsman I used to do quite a lot 3-D shooting over 20 years ago, except it was mostly 2-D that days. Now I resume it, because I will eventually embark on a very, very long journey and have to leave my hunting rifles behind. Luckily a take down recurce is very hard to beat for traveling, shooting it is still/again a pleasure and I have developed some decent stalking skills meanwhile. The only problem is that I have zero experience with broadheads and Germany where I live is about the worst palce on the planet to learn about them. So thank you very much for your input. :-)

I’m glad to see you had similar but perhaps slightly better results than myself and several of my friends did. We bought test kits, went through the process and each of us ordered a half a dozen shelves and had them cut and install all the hardware. Once the three of us all received our arrows we started spin testing and none of us had three arrows that we’re good either shaft wobble or insert wobbles that we couldn’t seem to fix and all three of us ended up throwing them to the side and returning to our original shafts
Old video but I just had this happen. Quality is poor and man it's dissapointing for the cost.
Where can I find the aluminum sleeves you’re using along with the HIT inserts? I’ve got brass HIT inserts, just can’t find the sleeve.

I haven't shot them, but would have to think that at that wall thickness with the steel reinforcement they have to be quite durable. They have come out with a VAP SS too in micro diameter. Pretty much any really thick walled shaft like the Vector HMR, Grizzlystik, or Daysix have been really durable for me. It takes quite a bit to damage one. Sometimes the components then become the weak point as opposed to the shaft. On the flip side though I've never broken one of the Mammoth arrows, which are on the super light GPI side of things, even shooting a shaft without a field point into a wooden target frame. But those shafts are also heavily reinforced with strong components and sleeves, which shows that there's more than one way to achieve high durability.
What maximum distance do you shoot
For practice or hunting?
@@DIYSportsman hunting I hunt public land and I have alot of shots that are over 50 which I've harvested them
@@bobbycampbell175 Most of my hunting is whitetail. I strongly prefer to keep shots under 30 if possible due to how much they can alter shot placement by moving, but regularly practice with broadheads to 70yds. On a western hunt I wouldn't hesitate to take a longer shot if conditions were right.
@@DIYSportsman I hunt whitetail also but it seems alot of my deer are 50yrds I cant bait because I hunt public land I usually have to take what I can get
@@bobbycampbell175 I'm in the same boat as far as public and no bait. Usually my shot opportunities are between 8-25 yards based on the setup, but it's also with thicker habitat and fairly well defined travel routes. If you see some of the whitetail hunts on my channel that will give a good idea of habitat type and setup to allow for shorter shots.
If y'all think about it, 254 dollars for 6 arrows with broadhead and lighted nocks is actually pretty cheap.

No I haven't. I have a test pack but not a full set, so I'd been hesitant to do a full review based on just 2 arrows. But they are very durable, and I have been pretty impressed with the component system for a micro diameter setup. 3 component systems I like for micros are Daysix, Ethics, and Valkerie. The only downside is that, depending on what you're going for, it could be harder to get FOC into the upper teens than a lighter GPI shaft. Very similar setup to the Vector HMR I just did a video on. But with that comes great durability also.
I just bought their test pack. Their 240 spine flew way better for me. I want to place an order and try em out and need to decide if I want to go with hot melt or epoxy. Which would you recommend? Also, do you know if they run the new components up front standard or do you have to request them? This review was a little disappointing (in regards to the product performance) to me since I have been literally “buying in” to their system. It just all makes sense. Thanks in advance for the feedback!
Hot melt is likely the better choice. Because of the bonded sleeve you don't really have to worry much about the insert shifting backwards much from impact, and the hot melt will easily allow you to remove or twist the inserts down the road if needed.
Also I'm not sure if the new components are standard. It would probably be best to send them a message first to ask before ordering.

With a 150 bishop scientific method
But I am thinking of trying the bishop FOC king arrow. But they are very expensive.
I know the Bisho is 2.6 GPI lighter than the victory. I would gain speed but lose momentum.
What are your thoughts on this.

Thx for review. do you think these would work well using the HIT insert without the aluminum sleeve. Ie like the axis. I have trouble pulling arrows out of bag targets that have the outsert sleeve.
I personally wouldnt use HITs without a sleeve. Even on the Axis. They're prone to tearing out the sides on hard, angled impacts unsupported.
🤔 how dow you think they spine test a tappered shaft?
I imagine they still measure via the standard test. And what it gives would be somewhat of an average. But if you were to measure bending stiffened at various points it should be stiffer up front and weaker as you go back.
What was your favorite arrow to shoot. I’m looking to build a higher foc arrow this offseason and have been leaning towards the grizzly stick, or day six. What is your take on this. I like the concept of GrizzlyStik and the taper and high foc full setup, but heard a lot of good things bout day 6.

@@DIYSportsman thank you and I just realized after watching your video again that you drilled and tapped the HIT inserts to accommodate extra weight? I was actually going to give the grizzlystiks a try using the HIT and the aluminum sleeve as you did but I have no way of drilling or tapping threads in the inserts. I'm only looking to build and arrow around the 550 to 575 grn weight. now that you've told me the sleeve you're using can you tell me which HIT inset to use? I know I'm asking a lot but anyway you could call me on my cell. the heavier arrow setup is something I'm just getting into and I'm getting frustrated. I need to talk to someone who doesn't sell anything and will tell me like it is. if you can't I understand. 337-258-9537

Way good video on these arrows wish I would of came across this before I just purchased a test kit, right out of the box crazy wobble on my knock end, on both arrows? ridiculous in my opinion?!? Day six way better as in spin testing etc. Brian is a stud to work with from day six as well! Please keep up good work and content.
Yea I have a test kit from daysix and they both spin test well. Most .001 shafts I've bought spin better across the batch. Victory has better tolerances on their VXT arrows, but they're micro diameter which I'm not a huge fan of and don't come in as stiff of a spine.
Have you created a quiver mounted to your stabilizer? If so I think that would be a great diy video. I enjoy all of your content

Probably know this by now but you can add on weights from black eagle rampage and with their tool and add weights from the nock end. Makes tuning great especially if you have a bunch of a particular weightbroadhead you need to use.
Get a heat gun or a long field tip and he a t it, the glue will burn off then cut 1 to 1/2 inch off try again.

I'm going to try Eastons titanoum half outs on their micro diameter Carbon injexion shafts.
Easily get to 480 grains with just a standard 100 gr head-you could get the 280 spines, cut them short, put a heavy duty head on it and get to 650 grains real easy

My test kit was amazing best arrows I’ve shot .
Placed it order. Received a dozen poorly put together arrows . Horrid customer service . Damaged inserts . List goes on .
Never again .

Why didn't you try out the grizzlystik broadheads with the grizzlystik arrows? Great video though. Very informative. I like how you added actual deer footage of you using the arrows to kill deer. Pretty cool.
I already had plenty of really good heads so I didn't feel the need to order the Grizzlystik ones at the time.
Been using hot melt for years on my compound arrows. I just buy aftermarket longer inserts. 40-100gn. Aluminum, steel, brass. Never had one come out.
On no! Look at all that marrow in the bone going to waste! (Being sarcastic) I do recommend trying it though, if you haven't! Pretty tasty stuff! Goes good on toast too!

I have this similar arrow build shooting it out of my 2019 Vertix @ 78lbs draw weight and 29" draw length. The only main difference is that I picked to achieve that 650gn weight with using a 200gn broadhead. I tried the 950gn build and it just didn't feel right to me so I went to the 650gn test pack (building for American Bison hunt). One thing I did when I ordered my actual arrows after the test pack was upgraded to the Ethics stainless steel outserts, I think that is a far more robust component for this system. Good informative video!
How much more penetration? Are they that much more accurate?
I think both accuracy and penetration have more to do with the overall setup than the shaft itself. I wouldn't say accuracy potential is any better or worse than many other shafts on the market, which is the say it will take a really, really good shooter to notice a difference. This same arrow at say, a 240 spine and 300 grains up front will certainly penetrate much better than the 320 spine with 175 grains up front, but there are tradeoffs with trajectory.
OK, they can cost more, but not double. And their components sucked I know three different people including myself that bought them and all of us had at least three wobbles out of six. Long story short all three of us threw them in the trash and went back to our old arrows
I like the HIT inserts and sleeves as a system. Didn't have any break or wobble all year. I guess they offer them with Ethics as an option now.
DIY Sportsman I love to hit system, I have used it for years and I use a footer/sleeve as well. I just tried the ethics insert out certain system on my new black eagle rampages and they seem to work nicely. I have yet to hunt with them
